    Could you please tell me what is best loop to install defrost switch and why?

    • @AirConAcademy
      @AirConAcademy  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for the question. I'm not sure if I understand but I think you were asking where to install the defrost thermostat? Typically that would be installed at the outlet of the coil as the refrigerant is leaving the coil in the defrost mode/cooling mode. You want to monitor the temperature of the refrigerant leaving the coil, because when the temperature goes up you know that the ice is gone, and that is when you want the unit to come out of defrost. In other words you install it at the outlet of the coil and you do that to make sure that the temperature is high enough so that the ice is gone or melted. I hope this helps!

      @@AirConAcademy Thank you for your reply, I understand this point. But for more clarification I saw different locations for the defrost switch, some models used it on the first loop from the bottom and other from second or third loop from the bottom.
      My question is there any big different between those locations or we can install it on any loop?

    • @AirConAcademy
      @AirConAcademy  Před 3 lety +1

      @@mohamedazzam1352 OHHHHH ok I understand!!! Yes, on some of these units the manufacture will tell you exactly where it should go. No matter what any instructor or teacher tells you in a classroom, it is always best to go with what the manufacturer suggests. The manufacturer designed the unit and some engineer knows exactly where the desired temperature is going to be. I wish I could give you a better explanation but as a structures we don't know all of the requirements for every single unit out in the field. I hope this helped and I wish I could've given you a better answer.

    what happens when the defrost cycle never kicks in and the outside unit turns into a block of ice? Does the emergency heat stay on all the time?

    • @AirConAcademy
      @AirConAcademy  Před 3 lety

      The temperature in the house would drop and when it drops the emergency heat would come on to heat the house, or the space. If the unit is not going into defrost then the ice will just keep building up. Check the defrost circuit and see if it is the timer, the circuitboard or the defrost thermostat that has failed.
