Originally *written and recorded* by Prince in 1984, it never really took off. When Sinead recorded and released it in 1990 she blew it up the charts! Many conflicting stories about their unfortunate dealings afterward. Prince wrote a powerful song....Sinead delivered a powerful version.....for me, it will always be her song no matter who else sings it.
Her mom died right before she recorded the studio version of this. She actually cried during the song for her mom.
She was a badass. Had many many albums worth checking out. Live Last Day of Our Acquaintance. Red Football, Troy, This is a Rebel Song, Mandinka, Black Boys on Mopeds. I could go on and on. She was raw power. Thanks!
