CRIME IN BALTIMORE | Some residents concerned about safety, feel forgotten after Preakness

  • The continued gun violence that's happening across the city was up close to one man's home Monday. The violence has him frustrated over police presence that he says seems to come and go--here for big events like the Preakness, then diminishes, he says.
It was an alarming afternoon for Jimmy Harper. He shared his concerns while sitting on his porch with a friend on Oakley Avenue, with a crime scene in front of his home.
"Somebody need to do something about these guns...too many guns out here," said Harper.

    For instance:
Fleeing from police in a car should no less than 5 years in prison, straight time and no early release.
Fleeing police in a car where there are injuries should be no less than 10 years in prison. Kill someone while fleeing police should be life in prison with parole.
If a felon is caught with a gun it should be at least 10 years in prison. Anyone using a gun to commit crimes like car jackings and robberies should be at least 20 years. Some criminals are only getting probation for this !!!!!

The only problem I have with it is that the system is so corrupt that it tends to be difficult for a person without the ability to not use a public defender to actually get a fair trial. I'm in no way saying that every public defender is trash. I am however saying that money makes the world go 'round and there are a ton of cases where innocent people have and continue to go to jail. Then we have the issue of when they are released......I mean it's not like most are rehabilitated while they're in there. I meannnnnnnn I agree that prison and jail shouldn't be a vacation that being said can't we at least attempt to get to the root of the problem while they're in there? Locking a dog up in a cage for running out of the yard doesn't make them less likely to run out of the yard when you release them. If parents would put their kids in check, none of this gun violent would be happening. The police and lawyers are not the problem, it's these children out here at random acting a damn fool. Parents only show up when their children are caught by law enforcement. Some parents have a nerve to condone their child's behavior and when they get deleted, want people to protest or get justice. Living in Baltimore city or county is off the hook now, with these hard-headed children.
Start giving out a money fine to the parents for their child's behavior and see how they like it.

Damn right the police abandoned these neighborhoods. The bad element are animals and need to be put down permanently. Sadly, many of the residents in these communities KNOW who the bad elements are and refuse to speak up. Oftentimes, the residents protect these degenerates by adhering to this stop snitching code. Imagine knowing the person who killed your loved ones but you refuse to speak up. You see the person walking freely everyday and you do nothing. Yet, they hold police responsible for not solving the crimes. And if the police finds a culprit, the neighborhoods vilify them and stand with the criminals. Talk about damaged! Let THAT SHIT BURN!
