  • With the air leak fixed we are still fighting a garbage idle. At this point I think the issue is my reeds, but just to be sure I decided to try out the PZ22 carburetor.
    It pulls slightly stronger than the pz19 and has much better throttle response.

    Yea bud oil is super important with these minis cause the cylinder is steel and the rings are steel but the piston is aluminum and they both expanded at much different rates so it’s extremely important on these hybrid motors to have them at proper operating temps and to get the tune right before really ripping it. Either way it’s great the cylinder is steel cause worst case you may ruin a piston and the cylinder will probably be fine, and the pistons are much cheaper to replace. Plus with like 220 grit sandpaper you can get rid of any aluminum transfer to the cylinder walls and what not. Anyway glad it’s not busted and you got it goin better. Just takes time to get it lined out. But remember always run it atleast 5ish minutes easy before sending it so both types of metals expand the same maybe even a lil longer then 5ish minute cause it’s winter and all. Thanks for posting.

    I didn't see yoy mention anything about the pilot jet or air fuel screw. Although the reed can be an issue you still need to tune the pilot and air fuel for a good idle. As far as the clutch goes the HD spring will easily hold thst power. You need a good plate and better pads. Stock pads and plate are garbage.

    • @JMB676
      @JMB676 Před 2 lety

      Yea I agree, in most builds that he does or me, or really anyone that’s not building monsters for the track and just daily fun riders a better pressure plate and some semi metallic pads will hold more then enough. Honestly I think just tightening the spring one or two threads and using the better pads will hold most people s “performance builds”

    • @kjsmolik
      @kjsmolik Před 2 lety +1

      @@JMB676 stock clutch is good for about 8hp. Most stock engines are 1.5-2hp. A basic minarelli is 8hp. Upgrading the spring, plate and better pads is more then enough . There are engines that were dynoed at 12+hp with the upgrades spring, plate and pads which held just fine. Overkill isn't necessarily bad but most times not needed.

When I ordered my kit I tried to save a buck and get it rolling faster so I ordered the MZ65 works but not best fit. That’s a tough cylinder for sure I have has quite a few moments where I felt it was a wrap ( and always was on the China Doll) but that cast iron makes a big difference!

      @@LAHover I'm not sure if it is the reed valve that is leaking. Maybe the case is leaking? The reed valve should stay closed when there is positive pressure and open when there is a vacuum in the cylinder. You can examine the reed valve to see if it is sealing against the reed block. If there is no gap it should seal. You can experiment by stiffening up the reed by adding a thin piece of metal to shorten the portion of the reed that flexes. This will help it seal better, but also open less when it is supposed to open.
