He hears music in his heart and sees it in his brain. His response was so genuine and respectful - when one loves something as he does music, practice is not drudgery. I hope we hear more of Wilson in years to come. Bravo!
I felt this too! That he actually feels the music - you can see it on his face when he is playing and hear it in the music. There are a lot of very talented kids his age and younger, but their virtuosity is simply in playing the notes; virtuosity without feeling means nothing in music. I saw and heard that feeling in Wilson's playing.

Young, talented, nice personality. Great hope for mankind.
DITTO!
The tone he's pulling out of that instrument is genius.
When he said “makes sense” I was blown, I did not understand patient until my 30s. Holy moly. Seems like a smart kid.
What a kind and loving soul this kid has.
His phrasing and musicality are out of this world! 🎹 🎵 🤯
I love the way his teacher was listening to his student’s answers!!
Someone needs to tell them both that the top prizes and fellowships at Juilliard will be given out based on race, not talent or hard work.
@@fareshajjar1208seriously? If that is true, that is very very disappointing.
@@fareshajjar1208 sad world
@@quiet92it is not true.
I sent this to my mom, and she recognized the man in the glasses (who is a professor at Julliard) as her middle school classmate!
Beautiful performance! And I love his personality as well. ❤️
Self deceive that you can tell sth. The truth is that you know nothing
@@FrancisAsin-Gioro Beauty is subjective. You should know that being such a "talented pianist" as you like to proclaim. Let's see your playing at 9 years old then.
Wilson is pure joy. Interviews serve someone's dimension when some questions posed are outside the box.
God bless this boy.... may he have a happy and healthy life
Talent + Persistence = Brilliance
Plus a great teacher and suppprt from parent/s!
+ the environment you are born into that allows for mainstream success
@@crosbycofod5052 there is that salty comment from a victimizer i was looking for
@@ebeyslough lmao if you believe your environment holds no weight as to what you can achieve, we need some education. What your parents do and have you do and others around you determines much of your life for most of the population. Whether they have the finances to provide an outlet for intelligence, whether you have a car and can take them to lessons, whether they have the knowledge to even know about what to do with you. Take Bill Gates for instance or Kanye West or Steve Jobs none of them would have been who they are without their resources. If your dad is an abuser and mom has left the house statistics say you're not going to be viewed as brilliant ever in your life. The poverty cycle is a hell of a thing. I'm happy for this amazing child, but we cannot say it's only talent + persistence.
Beautiful child , lovely little pianist.
Wow, talented and yet so humble.
Still shocking to me! Such beautiful articulation for a young soul!❤
Wow.... Absolutely incredible. Well spoken, humble, kind. His parents are surely also incredible.
Yes!!! Slow practice taking care of ALL the details IS the key. I’ve told my students this for 55 years
TERE IS LOVE, BEAUTY, AND HOPE .......IN THIS WORLD.....BLESS YOU WILSON.
Remarkable. Best wishes Wilson. Thank you PBS, one and all for this gift.
This is a very talented young boy; That's for sure!🎹🙏
This kid is a gift! Look forward to seeing more of him in the future
So wonderful! This should give people hope for the future.
He's everything that's good in the world.
The universe gives brilliance the magic of its rising stars - Wilson ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a fabulous person Wilson is
I fell into tears of joy watching this young pianist play. Absolutely incredible performer. I couldn’t be more proud. 🥲 😊
Wilson you are the sunshine of my day, thank you so much young beautiful mind 🫰
A talented kid! and I love Prof. Chen's face :D
What's the professor name?
What a talented and nice kid! 🥰
It's beautiful to see so many young talented musicians out there.
I hope I'll have a chance to see some of them live in some nice music hall.
Wow! What a wonderfully talented, beautiful kid!
Fantastic ability. Nice touch & voicing.
‘Slow is fast.’ I love that! And the prodigy’s retorts are as enlightening as is comforting.
Omg!!! And so cute too!! Sorry!! Just an average person watching this kid play beautifully!! I can definitely appreciate his god given talent that’s for sure!!!
What a beautiful child, his must be very proud.
WOW such a smart, talented, articulate young man!
Gosh I just love music too! He plays so lovely!
Heart-stoppingly good, Wilson. Bravo.
A lot of real musical feeling
Unbelievable. Bravo. Hope he doesn’t burn out and they handle him with care. Gorgeous piece
Wow, Wilson, You sure are good - make great use of your gifted talent; I look forward to seeing you one day in your own concert!
Chills up and down my spine!!!❤❤❤❤
Wunderbar !!! You are exceptionally great , young pianist.❤
Magical performance.❤ No drudgery detected at all which is the over-practised prodigy's curse.
Yup, he's having fun and is invigorated by a good challenge.
True hope for the future of good music, God bless this Dear Child!
The fact that he still needs a pedal extension. What a cutie.
how is he musically mature in this age???!!!
He is mimicking what has been drilled into him for hours each day for years.
@@fareshajjar1208 That sounds rather dismissive if you don't mind my saying. Facility comes from drill, certainly, but i can hear true expression which only comes from understanding. That's maturity at a young age and promises fluency and possibly mastery.
@@sanseijedi yeah, some adult people tend to dismiss and underestimate children's awareness and capabilities. They forget how they had preferences and tendencies themselves when they were children, and they ignore the fact that children are much less brainwashed than we are as adults after decades of conditioning. Hence they manifest their talent and skills out of their sheer nature.
Otherwise, what about Prokofiev, who was as young as this boy when he composed this piece that already carries all his personal style, which he manifested throughout his entire life? Who was Prokofiev mimicking then?
@@RogerioLupoArteCientifica Exactly. With young musicians, there is less to unlearn as bad habits or crutches. Plus sometimes they experience a freedom of not knowing how difficult others find some things that they themselves do easily. Anyway, I'm quite grateful and impressed for beautiful music however it is found.
You don't want to know how much pressure was exerted to create this diamond
Gifted child !!!! Wow 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Великолепное исполнение известного произведения! Буду с интересом следить за судьбой этого юного, талантливого пианиста.
I fully agree with you.
Wow. Amazing expression and maturity of playing. A fine career awaits.
How wonderful
Wishing you the best!❤❤❤❤❤❤
What a sweet kid, inspired by all he’s accomplished and can’t wait to see him keep doing what he loves.
Excellent, they focused on the music and not the show. Too often these prodigies are treated like circus acts, and their humanity is ignored. The opposite is true here. Bravi to all.
Wonderful. Just wonderful.
Amazingly cool young man!
He has great musicality.
what a cool, sweet and kind kid! he reassured me with taking things slow in practice :)
An amazing gift for all of us,he is destined for greatness ❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😅😅😅
Born a musical genius
Adorable! I love your performance!
Remarkably consistent tempo
Impressive in every way. 😎🎹
It's really good! I enjoy listening this.😀 We all love Chopin! You will be a star when you grow up. Keep it up with the practising.
May he be granted all that he needs to live a life which praises God and blesses others!
Amazing
This left a big smile on my face 😊
What as delightful kid! God bless him!
Wow this incredible
I have seen many amazing prodigies but this is mind boggling.
He plays like someone decades older….what a legend in the making 🥹
Wonderful
Wow
So inspiring
It seems the strength and beauty of his playing comes the passion he has for music. I think he was about to say, when asked about how long he practices on weekends, "It isn't hard because I like it.." or something similar...
Beautiful boy 🥹
Very excited to hear him play Chopin when he gets older
bravo, Wilson!!!
Great kid
I'm officially awed...
YES sir, a lot better than I was in that age category.
So bright 💙✨
The nuance in his expression!!!! 💜
My son is 5 been doing piano for a month and he can play mary had a little lamb :)
the future is bright
Cute kid. Very talented indeed. He will go far with the right guidance.
Even their dropouts are phenomenal musicians.
Gifted and lucky to have parents who know how to nurture.
My parents didn't. All I got was constant criticism so I gave up.
Wow, brilliant ❤
Slow is smooth; smooth is fast.
That PERFECT decrescendo for the first 4 Bs on his thumb 😭❤️❤️
Guys, his parents let him do things besides piano. They even let him eat a few times last week, between study sessions, of course.
Wow, this really sounds like an harp.
damn, he is so well-spoken at 9.
His teacher looked like my mentor …. Oh how I miss good people like him
stunning old soul musicianship and poetry. hope he can have a balanced normal childhood
Incroyable
He very mature for his age n very articulate
Beautiful 😍
❤
Go to Russia young man, they have the best teachers and the best pianists.
The slower you learn, the slower it is to forget.
