The run this man has gone on is insane..... Looks damn near untouchable at FW. I think he has a good 2 years of his prime left and he go down as the top 3 MMA GOAT.
For him to become the goat I think he needs to break the FW title defense record and then defend the LW title at least once

The scary thing is that Volk never seems to take much damage at all. He really does make it look too easy.

Volk is amazing. Took some time for him to be recognized, but now he is a true star. Incredibly well-rounded, super active, a mindset like no other...a great champion. He is right, Topuria hasn't tested real elite fighters, Max and Vol will most probably school him.
Volk will beat him but ilia will wrestle and beat max
Max has issues with Volk because he faints alot and intercepts Max everytime he lets his hands go, one in the middle. Topuria can do that to max, I think now he's faster than Max, noticeably stronger than him, better on the ground... Yea as much as I want Topuria to become a champion, I feel confident in him fighting against Max and cracking him good.
Ilia is very young still and has lots of growing to do. If Volk underestimates that he can be in for a rougher night than he expects. When you're like 26 and fighting you level up a lot between fights usually.
Topuria is relatively small for 145, he went against one of the biggest 155 pounder in the UFC and KO'd him. Confidence is off the roof, no way he underestimates Volk, but I can see it the other way around. Yair was dangerous on his feet so Volk took him down, good luck doing it with Topuria.
Topuria has serious hands and if people followed his career he’s a black bet in BJJ him and his brother were the first black belts from Georgia so they say but he can grapple as well but volk will be his real test cuz he’s definitely a tank of a man 😅
Went from not liking him at all after he beat max in first fight to him being my one of my favourite fighters ever what a guy
It's refreshing. A lot of champions slow their roll when they get the belt, choose their fights with caution but Volk wants to take all challenges on

That just goes to show how good Emmett chin really is. You can't say ilia don't got heavy hands when he's not only rocking people but shutting their lights off sometimes with 1 punch

Alex Goatanovski clearly the current P4P #1 right now. No one at his weight class can beat him, and I’d be willing to bet he beats Islam in a rematch due to his ability to adjust and find a way to win - he did it in the second half of the first fight.

I agree, but I think their first fight (Islam) should’ve just been a draw, that was way too close. Too close to call it because of such a. Significant difference on the two of them .I think that if Volk would’ve not been a bit hesitant on the first round or so he would’ve definitely won that first fight.

This kid has become a global treasure. Should easily be the face of the UFC instead of Adesanya and anyone else. When I watched him fight Mendez and he got dropped, I thought he was going to lose but he got back up again and won by a finish. And now he is arguably the featherweight goat.

MMA athletes are just getting better and they care about their bodies a lot more than past generations, nutrition is cleaned up, no IV and TRT to avoid losing actual body fat instead of just cutting 700lbs and using an IV to rehydrate.
Everybody is lasting longer in this generation of sports in pretty much every discipline.
Look at Ronaldo and Messi. Being that elite past 32-33 was very rare even 10-15 years ago.
If you don't drink, don't smoke, take care of your mind and body like Volk does your prime can last into your 40s. Some people are just built different

great and important take on the 'shield' he has to put up. i think we got some real and honest, real-time introspective reflection there. i know i can relate to what he said about feeling that way, and i think many of us probably can to some degree. none of us are world champs, meeting dignitaries or whatever, but we all engange in hightened social situations... some of us may have experienced some level of spotlight. and i can relate to his take on missing out on what is out around me due to my focus on conducting myself. it is a tough line to walk. but what i loved more was that he went on to say something like, yeah i may have to work on that a bit... and unless i am fooled, everything about him seems sincere to one degree or another....
i can relate to that as well... that being, the ability to look at yourself in abstract and pick and choose things to change or work on. focusing on maintain that level of awareness so that i can see those things as they come up to me, and see them when i miss them but am shown by a friend or other way. i have watched and respected volk's ability always seem take the best from his situation and improve. i feel like he is on some MJ level dedication and commitment, and i think everybody is starting to see it that hasn't already noticed. its inspiring to see this man dial things in with a level of confidence that border's on knowing.

I'm Aussie so I was an early supporter of Volk but yeah people hated him after those first two Max fights and it took a while before they finally came around. MMA fans usually switch up as quickly as you can snap your fingers but sometimes it takes them a while to realise how good somebody is

I tend to agree here as well, Ilia is skilled and definitely has good power, but Max just doesn't get knocked out. Definitely can see it going that way if it happens, Max beats him then he never fights Volk and we never see it. Falls apart, division remains stagnant.
