WHAT IS THE BEST SLEEPING POSITION?
If you Google “Best Sleeping Position” you get some pretty interesting (and conflicting) results.
Sleeping on your back is best for your spine, but contributes to blocked airways, snoring, and sleep apnea.
Sleeping on your stomach may be comfortable to some, but your spine is in a horrible alignment and you’re going to wake up with excruciating neck pain
Sleeping on your side is the “healthiest” position, but it’s going to compress your internal organs and slow down body functions.
So what do we do? How do we define the “best” sleeping position and how can you know what it is?
    THE BEST SLEEPING POSITION
For me, to qualify as the “best” there are two conditions that must be met…
The position that you find to be the most comfortable and allows you the most restful and restorative night’s sleep
A position that allows you to wake up with the fewest body aches and joint pains
Now the first condition is entirely up to you, but the second one is where I can come in and help.
In this video I’ll be discussing each of the different sleep positions, the common problems encountered in each one, and some tips/tricks you can do to alleviate pain and get a more peaceful, complete, and restorative night’s sleep.
    Hope it helps you!

I have been applying some methods I learned from your channel regarding some posture fixures for the past two years and a half for 5 days a week. My neckache gone, my headache gone, my bad posture shape gone and my back and shoulders look amazing. It looks like as if I was just born in perfect shape! Can’t thank you enough❤I appreciate all of your help and valuable videos. I keep doing those methods and practices as my job involes sitting at computer for hours. I wish you a very healthy, happy , long , wealthy life. That’s my prayer for you as long as I live in this world. Thank you thank you❤

Getting a thin, breathable pillow and an extra firm hdf mattress were lifesavers for me in my early twenties (I'm a back/side sleeper). I was getting a lot of neck and back pain which was at its worst right when I woke up in the morning; the exclusively thick pillows I was using, combined with the soft pillow-top mattress I had, were throwing my spine all out of whack! You might think that softer + fluffier = comfier but it turns out that that's just not the case. (It did take several nights to adjust to the new mattress, but after adjustment, it was like heaven!)

    • @toneandtighten

Dr Jared, for some reason, my neck feels much better without a pillow when I'm sleeping on my back. Is that OK to do or does it strain the neck?? Or is it pillow essential? Thank you!

On another channel the therapist showed how to stretch the glutes which I found difficult to do.
I found a way. Go into a deep squat with your back against the wall and your heels as close to the wall as possible. Wrap your arms around your knees and pull toward your chest.
I had some sciatic and it helped. Sciatica wasn't bad but it went away.

What about stomach sleeping with no pillow? I find it sometimes more comfortable to sleep with no pillow

    • @toneandtighten
      @toneandtighten  Před 5 měsíci +2

My primary concern would be with the amount of rotation at your neck with no pillow. But if you find it comfortable (for now, anyway) and you get a great night's sleep then I say go with it!

There is no "best" position for me. I can't stay in any one position for more than around 30-45 minutes without feeling pain and having to shift. If i sleep on my back it hurts my lumbar area but if i sleep on my side my hips, shower and knees hurt. If i sleep on my left side my left shoulder hurts but ion my right side my pelvis hurts and i get wicked calf cramps. Sleeping in my stomach is a complete no go. Basically I spend the night rotating through various postings trying to mitigate the pain as best as possible. Doesn't matter if i have pillows under my knees when I'm on my back or if i have a pillow between my knees when I'm on my side. Frankly I hate going to bed because I know it's just going to hurt.
