I'm still curious to see how this compares to the XRAY X4. Based on price, alone, they should be similar. Of course, I'm guessing that XRAY has been product high-quality competitive TCs longer than Ruddog. Regarding the 'holes' in the chassis, that's common for carpet (aluminum) RC chassis'. The asphalt (carbon fiber) chassis' tend to have far fewer...and, in many cases, NO...'holes' in the chassis plate. As for the tension bearings, that's common...they should be free-spinning with little, but some, residence. What REALLY gets me about this kit...and, why I'm SOOOOOOO interested in knowing how it compares to the XRAY X4...is the use of that triple belt design. The great majority of other TCs use a dual belt design...but, here's where it gets "interesting". Older competitive TCs (ie. those from more than 2-3 years ago) used an 'offset' design, where the front belt was longer than the rear belt. Looking at this design, the spur would have been in approximately the same location as this kit's spur, except that there's no gear between the spur & front diff. More recent TCs have, essentially, "reversed" the entire spur mount, placing the spur in the center of the front & rear diffs, so that the front & rear belts are identical (in length & width...ie. the same part number). In doing this, it not only allowed the same belt to be used front/rear, but it also changed the front-to-rear weight bias. This triple belt design looks like it might change the front-to-rear weight bias back to how things used to be...or, possibly, somewhere in-between other manufacturers 'old' (offset) & 'new' (centered) designs. What's this all mean? It means, I'm STILL hoping someone...anyone (typed and/or CZcams)...does a comparison (especially, an in-use comparison) between the Ruddog Iris One & XRAY X4.
@@WTFRCCars Strange, as I know several of those racing at my former track run XRAY (mostly the outgoing T4, but since have already upgraded to the X4), and they've had few, if any, problems with parts breaking. Only two had a 'serious' problem with the X4, related to the front bullhead (as others did at other tracks around the world)...but, that was before XRAY released the "beefed up" replacement (although, it has the same part number). They've had (again, as far as I'm aware...since moving away, I haven't kept track) no problems since.
@@WTFRCCars Exactly. Personally, I've never had problems with XRAY kits. I had a T4 '19 (or was it '18...I forget), and I currently have an X4 & XB2C (both '22). Admittedly, the X4 hasn't been run, and I'm actually thinking of selling it (where I moved, there's no one running anything using RC chassis (ie. no TC, USGT, VTA, etc). So, I might as well sell it.
You can get Loctite in stick form, if you dont want to deal with the mess the liquid stuff can create.
Might have to track some down :)
Just finished build up mine, controlled by a noble nb4 pro of course!
Has to be the noble pro ;) I absolutely love the flysky radios :)
There is a break in for the belts and gears as well.

I think there are a few guys at my local track that did have xray but they now run awesomatix as they had issues with the xray breaking a lot

Maybe just unlucky then or had old parts? I got a few xray rc's and all have been great so far :)

Great video as always. But just a piece of advice. Get a white Matt to build on. It’s very had to see on the black background.
Problem with white mats they get dirty really easy and it's hard to get graphite grease out lol but may try one :)
@@WTFRCCars check out Cowrc. They make a great mat that doesn’t stain.
Cool I'll have a look I do have the ruddog put mat too :)
@@WTFRCCars the cowrc one is also magnetic. Helps keep screws from rolling away.
