The Mandalorian & Grogu will be Disney Star Wars first attempt to move from Disney+ into the cinemas. But by getting Californian Tax credits The Mandalorian & Grogu movie will tie itself into various regulations that will inevitably harm the movie, and it's ability to sell a story to the world, rather than just California. It's a story that the more you dig into it, the worse it gets, and Disney can't afford this kind of mistake. With a stockholder vote for the Disney Board members on the way, Walt Disney's grandchildren turning against the best wishes of the company and a general shrinkage for Hollywood movies as a whole. The thing is Bob Iger never cared for Walt and his legacy. The acquisitions only began in earnest when he first became the ECO in 2005. So I say if Disney were to split up then take every divison/ studio that was actually foundd by Walt back to the Disney family and possibly Disney branded content that was started in the EISNER era, and then spin off everything acquired by Iger or Chapek into its own company.

The issue is the movie is 4 years too late when its finished.. Its already 2 years too late. They used the Storyline that would have been the movie for the strange Boba fett/mando show. There as a Teamster and Back of house Union Strike coming. Like the audience for Ashoka if all 100% of them when to see the Mando movie is only 250m box office

I was wondering myself if they did or not, since Disney's wording in their reply wasn't particularly clear. In response to PD's remarks, they issued a statement that they wanted to avoid the "stereotypes" of the previous film , so they were taking a different approach; and they said they'd been already consulting with people in the "dwarfism community". They didn't say directly if they had already been planning on not having dwarf actors. Considering how politically correct they are, I can see it happening either way.

@alberto5770 this state tax credit overrides any federal asset tax write offs. So they can still claim a net negative, even if they got a few ten mil back from the state. This shit is straight up money laundering, and they aren't even trying to hide it now. Because nobody is paying attention.

There are interior parts of California (with plenty of what their types consider diversity) that they have no interest in. Indeed, I live in one of those ignored areas, the Mojave Desert. As you say, there's plenty of "diversity"; but it's actually a conservative area. I've seen just one dude in a skirt one time in the entire 20+ years my family's lived here, lol. And the people I know are very unimpressed with current movies. I've sort of given up when it comes to Star Wars & Disney. My aunt & uncle are huge fans of Babylon 5 and are showing it to me. I'm an instant fan & love it. So much better than what's being made (I'm showing Disparu's reviews to my aunt & uncle who are loving them - this week is Rings of Power episode 7 review). I'm surprised you haven't made a video or mentioned about the show 'Curfew' on Paramount which seems like it'll be She-Hulk levels of misandrist.
Also, did you know that they cast an Indian man for the original form of Sauron in seaon 2 of Rings of Power? A good takte here. I gave up on star wars on the rise of skywalker. That wasnt even a movie, it was an outline. I get Andor was great but frankly Im over the prequel nonsense. I want to see what happens beyond the return of the Jedi. Im not counting the sequel triology as anything but digital garbage.

Babylon 5 and Stargate are just the lowest hanging fruit of sci fi shows. Watch Farscape, or Battlestar Galactica next. Maybe Firefly. The Expanse is also great of course.
I have zero interest in the Mandalorian now because of what they did to him in season 3 & Boba Fett. It would’ve been better if Mando became Mandalore(with the dark saber in hand) & Grogu keeps training with Luke.

Well season 1&2 was solid and obviously 3 isn't as good but it's still better than any of the other Star Wars shows.

Its "corprate welfare". ALL big businesses including the movie making business takes it from states as a bribe to move directly there. It is fraudulent to misuese tax funds to bribe corporations regardless of what it is. Disney does not need tax dollars and that's just one corprate entity from many of hundred that gets billions of unearned funds that benefit only the corprate entity while the rest of that state goes wanting. It is a usa wide issue and it needs to be adddressed as the fruad that it is.

People need to understand California’s state senate has more power than the governor, and voters. It’s almost impossible for the governor to veto, or voters to vote down the state senate. It’s why it became law that signatures can be collected to add laws, and initiatives to the ballot. People needed a way to sidestep the state senate.
It's worth pointing out that despite the recent, failed attempt to strike equal protection from California's constitution, the state senate is currently working to pass a bill that will allow them to override that in 'extreme circumstances.' And like the Canadian Charter, that mostly means they have to acknowledge that they're breaking the 'normal' rules to do so; unlike the Canadian Charter, I don't think the California bill includes an automatic sunset clause for such bypasses.

The goal of most subsidies is usually to aid or support what are deemed to be key parts of the economy or national infrastructure...this however is leftwing extremist propaganda being forced into an industry by the government when it is de facto illegal according to the most fundamental laws to the detriment of the industry, the people, our society, the country, the government itself, AND the economy. Our supreme court has ruled that the government can't quid pro quo private entities to do their bidding that circumvents the constitution or state laws on the books. So tax breaks that encourage discrimination should be illegal but I doubt anyone will challenge it. Sadly because the victims are unlikely to rock the boat in fear of being cancelled.

Forcing the puppet to stay in after FINALLY writing him out (via 3 episodes jammed into another show of all things) was it for me.
The show went from “bounty Hunter? Neat” to “escort quest? please make this quick”, to “we’re not going to keep the helmet in or have Pedro do anything interesting ever again are we?”
IMO Luke boarded, battled, bagged the baby frog then the show ended.
Everything since was the Disney verse asserting itself via the deletion or dismissal of all the things I liked about the show to being in things that made me about or dislike all the other Disney wars streaming slurry.
On the positive side, this probably will end up opening up movie making to other places then California, which will undercut the rotting tree, and might usurp Hollywood entirely.
