I don't think any Publisher will be stupid enough to give another contract to Rothfuss for publishing a second trilogy. Daw Books is waiting for 7 years and 8 month's to publish the conclusion to the trilogy. While Rothfuss claimed that all 3 books were already written back in 2007.

Amazes me how he presses the point that his mental health isn't in the best of shape right now; which makes it difficult for him to be creative, and everyone overlooks it completely and still scratches and grasps at him for his third book.
The problem with society nowadays is that people don't see other people any more. They just see a product and are only interested in consuming.
    Generalising. Obviously.
Throughout the talk he dropped hints that he wanted people to reflect on their mental health and be empathetic to other people's mental health.
It was a conversation he wanted to get into but very few bothered to listen. Just waiting to launch their own, fruitless, questions at him.
A nice snide remark at the end though.
'It's because you're all such lovely conversational partners'.
I imagine he meant it to some degree.
    But, meh.
    I'm probably completely wrong.

In order to translate it and keep the feeling, the mood it expresses in english in portuguese is extremely difficult if not just impossible! @@Thefinalcountdown650 so everything with magic relating to school is now a "harry potter ripoff"? If the novels were as shitty as you described them as in the first place, then I suppose there was nothing to "fall for" to begin with?
Well, that aside, I appreciate all and any recommendations. Just from what I can tell from amazon's description of the book though, it's as much a ripoff as The Name of the Wind. The whole "transported into a video game" or "transported to another world" thing has been done to death (and not just recently). Though, I suppose it's the take on it that really matters and I haven't read enough to give fair judgement. But The Name of the wind's take on the fantasy genre is unique and nothing like harry potter's. I do think Rothfuss is a genius. I've never experienced writing as fluid and beautiful as his, and his story captivated me like no other. And while I do feel the second book wasn't as strong as the first, it was still pretty damn good. I won't deny that he may be a bit of a salesmen, but the lack of a third book could also be due to the publishers who sell as a profession. Not saying it is, but it could quite possibly be.
well, anyways, I understand your pain. I've been waiting for a third book for five years (which for a kid who's now in sophomore year, that's a damn long time), and I do get upset that there's no book three, or even a rumor of it, but what can you do. I'm still gonna read it when it comes out, but that's not cause I fell for some salesman's one hit wonder, it's because I legitimately enjoyed the series. If you did too, I suggest you do the same. Authors don't work for us, but we don't have to buy from them either. If you're genuinely angry with him and feel like the series robbed something from you, I suggest you reread it when book three is announced (the second read is also very fun). Because you'd only feel that way if you invested a part of you in this series. I mean, otherwise, why are you even here?
Woah... that was longer than intended. Again, thanks for the recommendation. I'll probably pass though. I watch a bit of anime so i'm a bit sick of the surge of "transported to another world" titles in recent years.

He is a world class procrastinator. He live streams himself playing video games, does charities (I'm not saying charities are bad), designs board games, writes redundant books about side characters, sells merchandise themed after his book series, tries to make deals with people to turn his incomplete book series into a show or movie or video game, goes on vacations, and goes to interviews and book signings where he talks about the same things over and over all the while steadfastly avoiding the one question everyone is interested in. He literally does everything and anything he can to avoid working on book 3, it's like he's afraid everyone will forget about him or something if he finishes the series. Also, there are lots and lots of really awesome book authors who have familys, side hobbys, and deal with all of the same problems that he does and they still manage to write more than 3 books a decade!!!

A *proper* spectrum would actually involve individual contributions you can be all at the same time and to different extents. A continuous spectrum such as light power spectra would involve different wavelengths each of which you could be partially attributed to. That seems pretty darn general to me. You could be a little of everything at once. You could be a clearly defined color (a single sharp peak) or you could be all over the map pretty evenly (white light) or you could be somewhere in between.
That's for some reason not how "spectrum" tends to be used colloquially though.

Sometimes artists will wait until after they've died to release their works of art because it causes it to go up in value. I think we will have to wait until he keels over from heart disease or old age and THEN we will finally get book three! Also, yes, yes you could write 10 pages on the day your dog died maybe, possibly you could channel that emotion into the book you're writing and possibly make it just that much more spectacular when you're finished.

What a fraud, man. I've been waiting for that damn book for years and he's not even gonna give us a "progressing on it".

Good to know he can release rick and morty vs dungeons and dragons and not release book 3. You've lost yet another fan pat

Hey look, it's that guy that used to be a writer, now he is just a blogger and gamer guy. It's been about a decade ago since he published a full length novel.
I get it, he is doing a lot of fun stuff, and instead of the hard work of writing. I wish he'd confess that he is not going to write book 3.
But whatever, he sold the story off to lionsgate and has the gravy train. He is just b going to cons, running more Kickstarters, gaming, playing, and made his money and now he is resting on that old stuff he did. Pretty soon nobody will care.
At least JK Rowling had the courtesy to finish. Hell, her books and movies were almost all done in less time than it's taken to get book 3.
Butcher released 12 full novels in the same time.
Rothfuss isn't writing book 3, he's a convention cardboard cutout.

I feel like there is a lot of anger tied up in how you feel about him, i wont go weirdo psych 101 but are you angry or sad? The man will do his thing, frankly as someone that found him though that gameing stuff im glad he did them. Sure hell be ok if he never makes another book, but hes talked before about his constant urge to write different things. I dont claim to know his method but maybe the reason he hasnt finished that book was a lack of inspiration, would you rather a shit 3rd book today or his proper work sometime in the future?
This is the full qualification segment - i haven't read any of his books. I only read technical stuff to learn, i dont like the "for fun" books much. But as an auditory learner Pat is the best teacher there has ever been for me on how to express my own thoughts. Had to add that there for context sorry.
But this is a perfect growth point, you dont need to feel that (insert non-happy emotion), ether good things will happen or they will stay the same. Ether way you remain unchanged or happier, the fact that can exist is in itself a positive.
TLDR:Pat will be Pat, and that's a good thing.

Thefinalcountdown650 - I have. I just like tweaking the fangirls. They have taken on defending him like a religion. It's sad really. Rothfuss has pretty much ruined enjoyment of the series by still hanging out in the spotlight flaunting to everyone awake that he is not going to be working on the book.

"Do yourselves a favor and forget Rothfuss" - I could never do this. This series is the best thing I have read, and ill wait 20 years if it takes that long for a conclusion.

A bunch of fools here spending time attacking an author because he doesn't finish his work when they want him to. If you actually respect him you wouldn't act like idiots. If you don't respect him then why do you claim you want to read his books? If you are so sick then get therapy instead of worrying about this.

Do you even understand the creative process? It's not like building a house where you just work hard... there is a lot more at play and you can't always control everything.
