One of the best belt reviews I've ever seen. Properly detailed to where we can actually see the features. Great job and thank you.
Ordered mine today. Grabbed a black inner & Mech along with a new cummerbund for my MEPC. Been running the MEPC for a little over a year (school protection officer) at work and it's fantastic. DM definitely earned a repeat customer here.
wow didn't expect the inner belt to be made of Tegris too 😲 went ahead and ordered one
I ordered before this video was done along with a shit ton of pouches. Been rocking their placards and carrier for over a year. DM never disappoints
Nice belt! I bought a T Rex Orion a couple years ago to get me by just in case SHTF, but all this time I've waited for the "right" (true) two piece system to come to market. I do believe that day is here. Gentlemen..I can't thank you enough for what you provide, and all the work you guys put in each and every week. Solid stuff as always, and priceless information.
Orion belt with a Kore Essentials inner belt is the ultimate quick adjustable belt.
Trex just released their new belt and it has the same inner Molle features
Just ordered one today! Thanks for the code. Excited to put it to work
You told me to wait, and I'm glad I did! Thanks Walsh!
Just received mine, loving it so far.
Just ordered mine! Using your code, thanks!
Awesome review. Gonna get one to try it out myself.
I love the review it is so thoughtful and goes in depth in everyway! Also I agree an offhand melee weapon is gonna become a thing sooner or later.
I would love to see your take on the Trex Speed Belt because both the Defense Mech and Trex Speed Belt are quite similar
I think I just found my next duty belt. Thanks for the video. It helped quite a bit.
Awesome video!
You make me drool over this belt. Just bought it.
Ordering now! 👌🏽
I’m convinced! I’ll get one to use at our Regional Academy here in Colorado 👍🏽
Really like how they also have an inner pad belt option too! That way you could have a belt that can be thrown over your everyday clothes OR setup as a two piece comp belt
Bought one before seeing this review. Have worn it for 2 months and everything in this review is spot on! This will be my duty belt until (if possible) it gets so worn it’s useless. Definitely would purchase for the rest of my career.
If you like inner MOLLE, give Trex arms speed belt a look. it's actually the only belt I could run with my 25 inch waist size. Also, I'm sure some other viewers have pointed this out, but the purpose of load rating is for the usage of D-ring. mounting cables to helo have quick disconnect, so they don't rely on the cobra buckle to be able to break away.
Woot woot.. great review.
🔥🔥🔥
The inner belt alone looks worth the buy. You really can’t go wrong with DM.
Bro You stole my thought.
Great timing. My old one inner belt is getting front sag
This video helped me pull out the wallet and make the decision. Thanks for the review!
Yup buying it when I get home!
Awesome review man. Gonna have to get one. Not sure what color yet though
Ordering one now
Super awesome belt. I'm buying one in MC. Love the look
I dig it, good video.
appreciate it man, thanks for dropping over
That looks like a seriously sick belt. The only reason I’m not ordering one right now is because I’m waiting for the review on the HRT belt. However, it looks like this is the belt and I’m going to get. I’m a little concerned about the sleeve system on the HRT. I’m also not wild about the lack of rear hook and loop. I am really excited about this belt though. That kind of makes me glad that AXL pissed me off with all their delays last year and I canceled my order.

That inner belt is pretty badass and might be worth it just by itself. I'm surprised you havent reviewed the ferro bison belt.
I don't feel like making Ferro mad lol
@@ThinLineDefenseCo 😂
Prison labor tac gear from ferro
@@jesselund5435 😂
Still love the GBRS belt, but I 100% get why you knocked it for flipping the velcro.
Man.... I started using "one wrap" to build my belts .. my god... I can't believe I didn't go to it sooner... I can build a belt in like 10 min vs. 60 min... way more sturdier absolutely no play what so ever ... Walsh I appreciate that advice only pissed I didn't go to it sooner ...
OTW, thanks for the greta recommendation.
Greta....mmmmMMmm
what are your opinions on the Kore Essentials battle belt?
Jason did a video on it, but I was curious on your thought.
Currently using an AWS LAB belt but it's too big (I lost weight) and have been thinking of trying to sell it and get a new belt for a while now...looks like I know what I'll be looking to get
Condor had a bad rap from the past, but I guarentee you'd be impressed with their LCS Cobra belt, especially at only 75 bucks.
Ordered
ordered ranger green. thanks for the info. now to choose pouches.
Ohhhh whatcha leaning towards?
-Walsh
@ThinLineDefenseCo considering DM pouches, Esstac KIWI, and those Grim Hunter ( IIRC) but the wait on those is more than I am willing to do.
would love to see this compared to the Blue Force Lite battle belt
Love the design. I just really wish they made one wrapped in synthetic basketweave leather, given employer policy.
Interested in what you don't like about the chalk belt. I've had the grid for the last year and it is substantially more comfortable than anything else I've tried and I've tried most
My mech belt came in the mail yesterday, did some hardcore larping today, it is the lightest, most rigid, most comfortable belt I have ever run, doesn’t just look great but feels great, blew me away and surpassed all my expectations for a great belt. I have nothing but good things to say about defense mechanisms, great team, great products, (I own an mepc as well, also blew me away) I intend to replace most of my belt pouches with dm pouches.
If your looking for a gun belt, the mech belt is in my opinion the best on the market
If your looking for a slim lightweight carrier, mepc is awesome (for carrying a shit tone of gear, side plates and more shit than most of us larpers will ever need I can’t say anything about it’s load bearing capacity, for that I’d do the velocity systems scarab or crye spc, Agilite k19 also has an a cult following but I’ve never used one so I can’t recommend it)
Thank you defense mechanism for being great people and making great gear!
I am wondering though, do the DM pouches come with the Molle plus strips or do I have to buy those separately?
I always forget...I think they come with. Email em!
I've been using the core Essentials belt I like how the outer belt can adjust easily will this one do the same I wonder cuz I am getting a bit bigger and I may have cut that one a bit too small LOL
How many molle webbings in the belt? I bought one and it’s still shipping, I just not sure if a 2*2 molle panel can be attached on this belt
Are you guys going to review the new blue alpha gear battle belt lite?
A buddy of mine just bought a Kore belt and the buckle system was pretty neat. Think you’d find it interesting as well.
I’ve been wondering how the kore stacks up against the DM belt.
Wonder how well the hook/loop holds up after taking it on on and off every day... Looking at a new duty belt, and I work 70 hours a week in uniform.
How can you get a standard holster like a safari land to weave on there?
Can't wait for you to get a Shaw Usurper.
Multicam like my DM plate carrier👍
@Thin Line would you recommend the 1.5 or 2” inner? I sprung for the 1.5 just for general belt loop compatibility
I'd do 1.5 for the same reason. 2 for comps
Hey it looks like you got the 3" pistol mag holders. Would you recommend that if primarily running 20 rounder staccato mags or do you think the 4" would be better?
hmmm probably the 4inch for staccato mags only.
I don't think those were originally available when I got mine
-Walsh
What are you using for your EDC holster?
Just bought one. Lets see how it goes.
After about 2 months of research, Kore, GBRS, AXL, Blue Alpha, G Code, T Rex, HRT ARC, I FINALLY pulled the trigger on the Mech Defense Belt in Black multi cam. Every other belt fell short in one area or another. The Tegris fully wrapped inner, the 2 layer Tegris fully wrapped and full Velcro hook outer belt beat the other belts for design, weight, and strength. Your discount code on top of everything else was an extra added bonus. I did order the med pouch, and several other pouches but I love the look of the G Code pistol/rifle mags so I hope they fit the Mech belt. I'll do a follow up review once I receive my belt and set everything up. Thank you again for the detailed review and the discount.
Whats that kind of leg strap attachment for the modular holster adapter you have at 9:31?
shoot...I forgot the name of it...I'll find it
Will the wilder tactical UAB clips work with this belt?
Where do you get the Velcro strips to mount those mag carriers onto belt and what are they called?
From Defense Mechanisms. Search "Replacement Belt Loops"
- Jason
@@ThinLineDefenseCo Thanks!
Seems like a solid belt but how do you attach a Safariland UBL to it if possible?
You'd attach the UBL same as normal. One of the side buckles comes off and you slide it on. Same Same.
-Walsh
did you order the 1.5 or 2 inch inner belt?
Can you explain how you are mounting your holster to the belt? Is that a True North Concepts attachment?
It is... Or probably is. I'm swapping to the wilder tactical one though
-Walsh
Damn. I just bought a bison belt last week. Wish I would have saw this before I ordered it.
Use the bison for the gram and the DM for real work....
I’ve heard that COBRA buckles are no longer load rated but can’t find any info on it? MATBOCK and Misty Mountain still uses them in their belts and climbing harness so thats weird.
That is weird and I'm not sure on exactly why. Some say it's because you can't release under load and some mention some other safety flaws that make them not actually able to pass load or safety checks.
All the approved buckles are like double D loop or something totally different. I know astra alpine has a buckle that releases under load and I'd be Zero percent surprised to see that buckle show up soon
@@ThinLineDefenseCo Yeah they never really seemed up to that task. COBRAS are just tacticool buckles. It was pretty obvious when the rock climbing world wouldn’t touch them with a 10ft pole. Thanks!
Can you review the Haley Strategic D3 belt?
I would love this belt if it had more traditional molle. While this type of molle works for certain pouches, it doesn't work for all my pouches and therefore really isn't for me. On the flip side I just ordered the inner belt to be my new EDC belt.
ehh I'll disagree. It works even better for legacy MOLLE pouches that the "hang it off the side" type
the weight is offset by the tegris system. It's hard to explain but it does either type better than old generation belts.
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo a lot of my kydex pouches that use molle and then the eleven 10 malice clip system don’t work in this sort of belt. I had a ciguera gear belt with a similar system to this and a lot of my pouches were just to floppy when I couldn’t use one wrap. It’s not a bad design it just doesn’t work for me. I much prefer something like the Attack Pack reaper where the molle weaves through the tegris but gives me traditional molle compatibility
hmmm I can see now that you're explaining it. And much love to the Attack Pak belt. That thing is absolutely boss. I owe them a review.
Is it worth the the inner belt and dump pouch?
Hey there Walsh!!! I know this is an old video but what is that hanging from the clip on the right of the buckle on the belt? It’s like a shotgun shell holder but with very small loops. I run pyro for airsoft and locally, we use little firecrackers that would fit perfect in that thing!!!
It's a mini chemlight holder. I believe Defense Mechanisms sells it. Don't forget that TLDCO discount code!
- Jason
@@ThinLineDefenseCo Thanks so much, Jason!!!
Sorry, he beat me to it! Let me know if it works out
-Walsh
@@ThinLineDefenseCo All good! Thanks to both of you for making such great content! 😊
Does Tek Lok work well on this belt?
Nice! How's the sizing? What did you order for a 34 waist?
They have a chart on their site that explains the sizing in great detail. Large adjustment range.
I was going for the blue alpha battle belt lite, and then came across this review.. oh my..
It's a fantastic belt!
I think I finally found the belt I’m going with!
…what chest rig are you wearing in this video?
That's also defense mechanisms!
-Walsh
👍👍
This looks interesting. Is the Mech belt rigid enough to support 2-25rd 7.62 pmags side by side?
it's rigid enough to carry a grenade launcher lol
What chest rig is that
Really down to this belt or the agilite magnetix belt. Such a difficult choice.
Which did u choose
@thatguyjohnny8235 I chose the agilite. Simply for the quick donn and doff with the magnets. Wondering how much of an upgrade it will be coming from a basic kore battle belt. With that said I'm still waiting for it to come in. That and my k19 should he here the 9th.
I may just be nit picking, which is what the internet is for I guess. But with the way the molle is set up how ridged are the pouches? Can you pull on a mag and it comes out easy or does it have slack?
super rigid MOLLE+ but if you're using old school connections I think it would depend. I would do the older pouches with the new connection method
Do the HRT 30° pistol pouch adapters or the Tek-Loks from the HRT review fit this belt?
The 30° adapters work great and lock up real well. Not sure about Tek-Loks
- Not Jason
What is the actual weight of the outer belt and inner belt separately? Have you tested the axl advanced belt?
Uhhh very very little. Like you're talking stupidly low weight. Quarter pound maybe?
And yes, we did a full review on the Axl and we really enjoy that belt but felt the DM was just a step upward in terms of design.
Here's that Axl video:
czcams.com/video/gVsMs8miNG4/video.html
-Walsh
Have you tried the H.A.A.L.O. Belt by MATBOCK? I want a review or comparison with the BFG CHLK gen 2 belt
What sort of clip would you use with this belt if you were mounting your g code mags to it?
guardian warrior solutions. Those things are maaaaagical
I thought you did not like the GBRS belt due to it being made out of Tegris? I personally have the Blue Alpha. Love it! Thank you for your reviews.
GBRS has tegris exposed unnecessarily, it's reflective
@@ikemouser2580 I don't understand these companies making belts with exposed tegris. It seems like an obvious problem.
Got it. Thank you for the response.
And as Ike said, the tegris serves no point. With the cuts all over the integrity is shot and doesn't actually do anything.
it's just for show instead of function but the tegris belts are far far superior to the other styles.... if they're done right
The GBRS and Ferro Bison are like these weird gen 1.5 with Axl being Gen 2 and the Mech belt 2.5/3
I have one Blue alpha few weeks ago. The whole belt system is very storge. However, their inner belt is little stiff. If you're a bigger guy maybe your stomach is pressing up your waist caused a "ring" overlap. That is only thing bother me for now.
The video we deserved not the one we needed!!!
How does that "Inner Molle" work? Is it just an open segment where malice clips fit through?
Yeah, it's not really MOLLE that you have to weave. Just can have the attachments slide through.
- Not Jason
@@ThinLineDefenseCo awesome, I might have to check it out avs finally try the velcro method of attaching things
I wonder if it will work with the wilder tactical mounting system???
OooOo!!! possibly. Good thinking
I have ordered mine so I’ll let y’all know once it gets in
You need to do some reviews on kore battle belt and ferro concepts bison
ehh I dunno if I want Ferro to hate me too lol
we did a few on the Kore though!
-Walsh
How does this compare to the trex arms speed belt? They seem extremely similar with some small thing that completely change them.
yea the small difference is this one is good. Lol I haven't tried the T-rex one but the DM is 30 bucks cheaper. That's a good enough reason for me (and we have a discount code!!)
@@ThinLineDefenseCo yeah it seems like this belt is better made with the Velcro then clip vs other belts like the trex arms just have a flip in the front. I think you helped me chose my new belt! Thanks! And I’ll use your discount code!
hey guys, do you know if the defense mechanism inner belt will interact well with the lead devil outer belt? thanks
I think that's a great combo. It's what I use
- Jason
Hey Walsh thanks again for another awesome video. I don’t know if it’s appropriate to submit an informal request here buuuuut; I’ve been eyeballing the Belt-M from S&S Precision (it IS a load rated), wondering if you could get your hands on one and add it to the review list?
OOOooOOooo I'll take a look. NOt gonna lie....my desk is like overflowing with projects I owe...but hey, what's one more!
@@ThinLineDefenseCo yeah, it’s just a belt, 🤷♂️ right? Right? Jk…I understand the challenges that come with being loved and desired by everyone, can be overwhelming 😂
hah i'm just a goober with a camera
@@ThinLineDefenseCo clearly a lovable goober with a sickass camera!
Anyone have any experience with using a Safariland UBL on these?
Do the mag pouches have kydex inserts like the esstac?
No they don't
- Not Jason
I still rock the l.b.e pistol belt. Can't beat it.
I like how you hid your name so you didn't have to say this in public
T. rex arms just released a belt with very similar features. It would be a good one to compare
saw that! Looks twice the price for only one layer... definitely feel a comparison though!
-Walsh
Shouldnt blue alpha belt and war poet belt be the same since theyre the same belt?
They are, sorry if that's confusing but I use them interchangeably
It kinda looks like an upgrade to the g code belt. Same attachment system.
TEEE-GRIS!
You should check out RDR gears belt
Looks like a nice belt, but I’ll never replace my Subsecond belt. It’s the perfect belt for me.
keep hearing good things about those!
-Walsh
The belt overlaps on one side of the buckle, wouldnt this mean that you couldnt run any gear in that spot?
Nope, good question though. It still has the molle underneath and that area performs the same as the opposing side. I should have shown it but I did test that. The gloves are actually hooked in the same way molle would be.
It would be easier to show you....but yes, gear can go there as it goes on the outside portion.
-Walsh
What brand are those Velcro malice strips?
I believe those are the MOLLE plus from DM
- Not Jason
Do you prefer the 2" or 1.5" inner?
I like the 1.5 for normal pants but 2 is more adhesion. I'd say most folks want the 1.5 though
