  • after experimenting with versa and sentra transmissions from swapping valve bodies to TCMs to programming etc.. big mess was not really necessary I found the optimal solution that
proves there was not real need to reprogram the TCM after swapping the transmission or after rebuild.
    testing-public...
all what you have to do is according to my case using Maxisys ms906 around $1000 scanner from amazon was able to do exactly what Nissan consult does where snap-on failed. it
is all about doing the Auxiliary gearbox clutch point learning MANUALLY.
with Maxisys scanner or Nissan consult you need perform the following functions under the special function feature in Transmission section of Maxisys.
    1- G senor calibration
2- Air Volume Learning " this done within the engine computer funtion not TCM"
    3- ERASE CALIBRATION DATA
    4- ERASE LEARNING VALUE
    5- CONFORM CVTF DETERIORATION
well when you do the above 3 functions I assure you your transmission will lose forward gears and only harsh reverse so in my case I end up swapping 2 transmissions till I figured how to restore the calibration data from the valvebody ROM , without any scanner , star the engine then
move the shifter to R then turn the ignition off leave it approximately to 15 seconds then try to start it in R it wont start, then move it back to P and start the engine 5 then ignition off finally start the engine again and you will have all the gears working fine. I need to mention here
even swapped used TCM and i was able to restore the ROM calibration to the TCM without a scanner.
now as most suffer of flaring and shocks after swapping transmission or valvebody or used TCM
this is the most important procedure to fix all shifting concerns , should be done every 20K miles to keep perfecting optimal shifting quality and longer life to your transmission.
4- Auxiliary gearbox clutch point learning using the following procedures
1- Start engine. 2. Shift the CVT into P or N and allow the engine to idle for 1 min.
    3. Shift the CVT into D and accelerate the vehicle from a stop to 45 mph at low throttle .
    4. Release the throttle and coast down to 20 or less and then brake to a stop.
    5. When at a complete stop turn the engine OFF.
    6. Repeat steps 7-10 more times and here we go your transmission will shift as new.
you can also just do the Auxiliary gearbox clutch point learning procedures even if no work has been done on the vehicle when the shift quality got degraded, unfortunately form what I have seen that Nissan actually it is Jatco TCM software can not perform this by itself and many thought they had bad transmissions around 65K miles but all what they needed just to do Auxiliary gearbox clutch point learning procedure.

Hi brother, thanks for sharing all these infos. I have a 2012 nissan versa and after replacing the valve body i erqaed the calibration data and now i exactly have the same issue you mentioned. It have hard reverse shift and no forward. I tried you way start the car, turn off and start on R, turn off and start again but it doesn't work. Could you please describe a bit more elaborately how to do that? I would really appreciate your help. Thank you

2012 vesa has 2 types of VB , one closed solenoid canisters like the ones u see in sentra and one open side solenoid canister like versa 2013 and up, even the dealer may sell the wrong one, you need to match the original 1st , let me know as I believe you installed the wrong one to have that problem you described, when the TCM can not pickup the calibration from the ROM module. do not force it may jump forward and break the cvt belt. Switch with the right VB.

@@Transmission4less Thanks a lot sir and you were absolutely right. It had the wrong valve body which were closed type solenoid but the original have the open style solenoid. I replaced it with right one and its moving forward and backward but look like its stuck on lower gear and doesn’t go into higher ones. After a restart it goes to hight gear very slowly and after running a while it shows P0965 pressure control solenoid b code and went into limp mode. When i restart again it runs again in the low gear with high Rpm .Is this an issue with the new valve body or I have to erase the code and do manual auxiliary clutch point relearning using the procedure you described? I also did control valve change procedure successfully with my autel scanner and it was completed but clutch point relearning using scanner doesn’t work

@@sakian2 air test the back pulley under the vb , remove the vb 1st if good then also clean the vb n dip the solenoids in ultrasonic cleaner , do not mix them mark them up 1st, let me know. But before that delete the calibration from the tcm with a scanner then will pickup by itself the newer vb.

@@Transmission4less Thanks a lot Sir. I have cleaned the old valve body and put it back again and it started working. Car is driving good and gears are changing. Thank you very very much for all of your support. Now i only have one issue that it have the humming noise when changing to gears look like oil pressure pump noise. Are there any way to solve this?
Thanks again for your help. May Allah bless you

I have a JF015e with 58k miles that will flare when accelerating/decelerating. I tried the auxiliary gearbox clutch point learning you described here but don't see a change. Do I need the Maxisys ms906 so I can complete all the procedures before I can do the manual auxiliary gearbox clutch point learning procedure or do you think this transmission is already too far gone?

on the valve body small plastic black box , called ROM module that keeps the calibration data for it's valve body , maxisys needed only when replacing the valve body so u can rest the calibration data in the TCM to the new ROM of the new installed valvebody. flaring with jf015e associated with partially clogged air filter, also accumulated fine shaving inside the solenoids, in order for this trans to double it's life u need to dip the valvebody as a unit in ultrasonic cleaner for 4 hours every 50K miles , also replace the paper filter inside housing in a cup at the back of the trans, the only way to tell if it is too late is to remove the trans oil pan and look for shavings then yes too late even if it is very minimal. if yours from Nissan u still under warranty.

@@Transmission4less I appreciate the help! The vehicle is a 2012 Versa with 58k miles so unfortunately, it is out of warranty. Here are photos of the air filter, it does not look clogged but part of the lining is torn: imgur.com/a/O57oqBo do you think that could be causing it? I've already pulled the pan, cleaned the magnets, replaced the aux paper filter that is inside the cup housing held on by 1 bolt, and added new fluid. The flare/slip was present before and after I completed that service. Most valve body shops say replacing the JF015E valve body will fix slipping/flare but I don't have the maxisys ms906 to program/calibrate the replacement so I would want to be sure that replacing the valve body would fix the problem before purchasing the tool and replacement valve body. What do you think?

@@ryanwolf8441 air filter is really a nightmare for jf015e when the MAF fails to perform within the correct performance, most people can not tell when slipping and when flaring till it is really too late . , causing the belt to slip and causing flaring, eventually the belt can not sustain constant grip on the pulleys. if found any very very minimal shavings in the oil pan then yes nothing u can do to fix, usually i open the solenoids and clean them also ream the primary pressure valve inside the valve body but in your case no need for all that, if u need to rebuild it just send me your valve body and cover the shipping and will rebuild it for you for $200 , but for the sake of testing in your case dipping the valve body as a unit in ultrasonic cleaner for 4 hours shall clean the solenoids and make a difference if non then the belt is already damaged. if u keep the same ROM module no need for any scanner. btw that amount of dust on the filter affects the trans and yes your filter must be replaced, that is how sensitive this filter to the performance of the engine and transmission.

any maxisys can do it even the basic one for $500 or less on amazon or ebay , if you wana play with the TCM calibration " uploading the new ROM data to the TCM" and angle reset and idle volume adaptation.

@@Transmission4less When I pulled the pan off the 2012 Versa there were shavings on the magnets..... But I just did a fluid and filter change on my brothers 2018 Mirage G4 28k miles with the same JF015E transmission, it had the same amount of shavings on the magnets and before/after the service, there are no issues with shifting. On the Versa first I'll replace the air filter, just in case. Then I think I'll pull the valve body and soak it in ultrasonic cleaner as you recommended. Which ultrasonic cleaner do you use? And if those things don't work do you think a valve body rebuild will help or will it need a whole transmission? If I wasn't hundreds of miles away in VA I'd bring the vehicle to you. Thank you Salim!!
