Still a toy shop, it just lost the open spaces, the focused areas... boring. Then it was burned down by some child arsonists in 2012

She would always bring us to Toys “R” Us and then bring us to the YMCA to swim but then once it closed down, he didn’t go. She stopped babysitting us in 2020 because it was Covid and really couldn’t sleep that much because my mom already got Covid and my grandpa had it too.

The Toys R Us in Hagerstown sat empty for a few years, but then Ollie’s moved from their cramped space in the old Kmart shopping center up the boulevard and into the Toys R Us store where they have twice the space to spread out in. It’s MUCH nicer in there now, and a lot easier to bargain hunt!

@@veronicas_showno it closed because the company went private in 2005, apparently it was involved in a leverage buyout so it was bought by 3 different companies, so since that toys r us had to pay but they couldn't bc of amazon and walmart dominating the toy market, plus toys r us was in billions in debt so they couldn't pay, kids also want video games now (that's probably not a big deal tho cuz tru also sold them), so TRU filed for bankruptcy in late 2017, their last stores closed in 2021. although they are working with macys to come back, plus airports and malls are bringing them back, as in the American Dream Mall.
