- Hiking the Skyline Loop Trail at Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington State. (5.5 Mi.). BEST HIKE IN MT. RAINIER NATIONAL PARK.
Skyline Loop trail was our favorite hike at Mt. Rainier! This is a tough hike, but worth the effort! It had a little bit of everything, mountain views, meadows, snow fields, glaciers, lava rock, and so much more. This is a popular hike, so get there early. We were at the trailhead at 6:30am and the parking lot had already started filling up.
After 12 months of planning, lugging 350 lbs. of gear 2,800 mi. across country, grocery shopping and searching endlessly for propane in Seattle, we finally made it to a place of solitude, known as Mt Rainier National Park.
Mount Rainier National Park is located in southeast Washington State and is part of the Cascade Mountain Range of the Pacific Northwest. It ascends to 14,411 feet above sea level and is comprised of 236,381 acres.
Mt Rainer encompasses pristine glacier carved valleys, with abundant waterfalls, subalpine wildflower meadows and a thriving old-growth forest. Its iconic 20+ named glaciers offer mesmerizing views that are sure to capture your inner peace as they did ours.
It's hard not to indulge into your passion at Mt Rainier, as it offers mountain climbing, hiking, backpacking, skiing, sight-seeing, and some of the most beautiful scenic drives in America.

Awesome video. That place is gorgeous!
Hi Todd, Thanks! Mt. Rainier National Park surpassed our expectations. The hiking trails around Mt. Rainier are some of the best in the country.
Love love love this video! Cant wait for more!
Thanks Tiffany, We are glad you enjoyed watching it. Our first camping video will be published in a few days and it is going to feature a whole tasty chicken cooked in the Dutch Oven for Thanksgiving. YUMMY, YUMMY...
Spectacular!!
Thanks Tracy! Of the 20+ National Parks we have visited, Mt. Rainier is at the top of our list.
Great video Jay and Tina. Made me feel like I was there with you guys. Keep them coming!
Glad you enjoyed it Gary. Our goal is to post one hiking video and one camping video each week for the next few months.
This place look so magic ❤
Yes it is! This is one of our favorite National Park trails.
This was such a helpful video thank you for posting- can I ask, the little scramble TIna didn't like- how steep was that drop?
Your welcome Chloe! Maybe a gradual 10 feet, it was slippery though. Tina is badly afraid of heights and she said it wasn't that bad, but she went slow and was careful. The drop offs on the side of the trail are steep in spots but the trail is wide enough and we'll maintained.
Thank you for your videos. I also watched your video on the Mount Fremont Trail. Did you like Skyline better than Mount Fremont? I am curious to learn about the differences. Thank you again for your videos.
Tina and I both liked the Skyline trail better, however Mt. Feemont is our second favorite in Mt. Rainier. Skyline trail you feel a lot closer to Rainier and there are more beautiful meadows to see. Mt. Freemont is a bit more rocky.
Great video. I'm heading there in Sept. What date do you hike the Skyline Trail?
Hi Dave Weaver! We hiked the Skyline Trail the last week in July last year. If you have the ability, save this trail Hike for the clearest day possible that you are in Mt Rainier. Cloud cover can drastically change the views on this trail. This was our favorite hike in Rainier! Safe travels!
@@HikengoSeekers thanks! I'm watching your Fremont video right now too. Great job
what entrance is this trail closest too? trying to make sure park in the right area!
Hi Michelle, Skyline Trail is located on the south side of the park, features subalpine meadows, the Jackson Visitor Center, the historic Paradise Inn, with epic mountain views. Beautiful road trip to the Paradise section! Go on a clear day if possible, makes a big difference with your views.
Isn't it illegal to film this national park now without a permit?
Hi @VeeTravels - Here is a link to the National Park Service filming requirements. www.nps.gov/aboutus/news/commercial-film-and-photo-permits.htm#:~:text=Under%20federal%20law%2C%20all%20commercial,Park%20System%20requires%20a%20permit.
@@HikengoSeekers Ah thank you for this information. It is interesting because I am sure there are thousands of videos out there that currently break this law.
What do you think of my channel and my recent videos by the way?
What month did you go. Just went lat weekend and it did not look like this 😂
Our Washington State NP adventure last last year was in July. We watched the weather closely and chose the best days to do Rainier. It is rare to see Mt Rainier with the views we had. We were thankful!
Which month of the year did you guy hike?
We did this hike at the end of July. However, the key is to go on a clear day.
Nice video. But don't write your name in the snow. You are supposed to leave things the way nature intended it. It ruins it for everyone else. Just like people aren't supposed to stack rocks.
