@@ShadomanG It's not surprising though, all the media attention went to the girl carrying her teams offense game after game. Then that iowa team ran into a brick wall in LSU. Past duke teams with Christian Laettner, JJ Redick, Grayson Allen, the fab 5 Michigan team, that gross dude with the long hair on Gonzaga in the 2000s, these were all college basketball "Villains". It's usually the overall best team that plays into the antics to antagonize other teams/crowds gets the villain label. It's nothing new, people usually root against the powerhouse teams.

      1) It's not defamatory. Do people believe the LSU girls are literally "evil" and literally "dirty debutantes" because of the article this guy wrote? (and thus they are going to suffer actual damages because of it; people won't hire them, they'll get disqualified, they'll suffer so much emotionally they won't be able to step onto the court because they know people believe that they are literally "evil" and "dirty debutantes" because of what this dude wrote) lol Besides in the US you have the First Amendment which protects a lot of speech and this was clearly a free comment opinion column by a writer (i.e. his not reporting facts, he's giving his opinion on a sporting event).
      2) This dude is a homer writer (LA Times) writing for the home team (UCLA). If it was (like Don Imus) a neutral party writing for the Denver Post (or as SAS rightfully says, USA Today) than there's more of a case that there was ill intent. The "good versus evil" was clearly hyperbolic, over the top, tongue and cheek. The ONLY real issue here is the "dirty debutante" line (given what comes up on the Google Search). It's actually pathetic to portray a women's college game as "good vs. evil". It's asinine. Not to mention, LSU is the underdog team. It's a 1 vs. a 3. This is why people are going to side with LSU over Iowa. There's a narrative being created surrounding Caitlin Clark in broad daylight. 😂😂😂

The "good versus evil" comment was obviously hyperbolic and is typical in male sports commentary (especially since this dude was a homer writing for his hometown team). The "dirty debutants" line is where the issue is.

I agree with Kim stance on the LGBTQ players. Kim recruited players to play basketball, not start a movement. Nobody cares what you do in the bedroom, you’re there to play ball. Also, there might be issues with other players undressing around a LGBTQ player that is attracted to women. It’s ironic the guys congratulated Kim for winning 20 games a year, every year in her career, but chastised her for HOW she did it, which includes establishing team unity and the winning atmosphere….and that includes unity in the locker room.
