She learned the harp by kinda just knowledge of the piano. The switches on top are what raises or lowers the pitch of a string. So, if she wants to change the key she'll flip the appropriate switches. Some harps have pedals that do something similar, but more quickly. And yes! You could play by feel. If you put the harp in a good key, you could strum it from top to bottom and it'll still sound pretty, kind of like how a harmonica is.
