  • If you see the printer displays "carriage linear scale failure," or the printer produces blurry images, even after alignment and cleaning the timing encoder strip, you may want to change to a new CR encoder strip. The CR stands for printhead carriage assembly. We showed detailed steps to accomplish the task. The same procedure also works for Epson I3110, Epson I805, and other Epson EcoTank.

    What do you look for if you buy a new encoder strip and your printhead goes close to the left side, stops, then keeps going and you hear a shrill noise? 0XEA error shows, restarting the printer does the same thing, over and over. Then what? Thanks Keven, the encoder strip did stop the print head from slamming into the left side of the printer, but it's like it doesn't know where it is on the rail. I cleaned the strip with iso alcohol when I got it.

      The belt has tiny marks on it. Printer reads the marks and decide the printhead position.

      @@tarrisalcedo Did either of you figure this out? Keven At BCH says it is usually the encoder strip being bent and/or dirty. I cleaned mine twice, put it through the reader slot (which nobody else has mentioned but Kevin), replaced and cleaned a new strip and I am still getting that screeeching/grinding noise with a 0XEA error. Turning the printer on and off does not solve it. I will link to this video, let me know if you find an answer besides the encoder strip.

    I replaced my belt now my printer throws the head all the way to the left and makes a terrible grinding noise. What do I do now?

    • @BCHTechnologies
      @BCHTechnologies  Před 2 lety

      Your belt is installed incorrectly on the left. Check the tension

    • @supergrendel
      @supergrendel Před 2 lety

      @@BCHTechnologies I figured it out. I actually missed the slot in the back of the head where the encoder strip is supposed to pass through. So it was actually behind the carriage as opposed to against the sensor. Thanks for the reply though! Now if someone can post a video on how to replace the carriage belt that would be SWEET!

    What does it matter how to turn the tape!? When it is identical on both sides. The microfilm is the same everywhere, no matter how it is turned. You just have to pay attention to which end of the tape goes to which side and that's all. And how to turn has nothing to do with it.
    I mean completely ridiculous......
