    I opened an early C86 cartridge to see if I could refill it, and discovered that it was rather complex inside. The main reservoir appeared to be sealed, and pressurized to force the ink through a pressure regulator to the ink head. Very strange. I later found re-inkable cartridges to replace them, along with the chip resetter.

  • @KeriRautenkranz
    @KeriRautenkranz Před 5 lety +4

    BRAVO! Love the "Rupture", the hundred dollar syringe and of course The Bridge.
    The clear window explanation was a lifesaver for extracting the 4 - 6ml (!!) of Epson ink from a new set of 288-I starter cartridges for filling and purging with sublimation ink.
    (had an impromptu sublimation job while my main CISS printer was down, so bought a cheap XP440 for interim work )
    The 288 appear to be physically identical to the 252, with just a different electronic ID on the chip and less ink.
    I found that chamber #2 will take about 5ml at a time. Applying then releasing a vacuum to the fill hole with the vent taped will quickly draw ink into chambers #1 and #3, allowing chamber #2 to take another 5ml, and so on.

Havent used it in about two months because of the cost of ink.Have an Epson WF-2650 that uses 220 ink cartridges I want to refill & reset. Do they use pigment ink? lord netsplits
      Here’s some information that may be useful :
      Most of the companies that offer printers have 2 different set of prices that are noted and acknowledged by them.
      1. Manufacturing price
      Which is the amount of money it took for the company to make that product. (In this case “printer”)
      2. Retail price
      The price, they ACTUALLY want to sell you the product for...
      Now, I’ve got no problem, them, making a bit of money on the side. But this gets dark when you consider the amount of money it takes to produce an ink cartridge :
      00.23$ cents
      Usually sold for the same price as the printer.
      So, if they’re selling the printer for 100 dollars which actually should’ve been sold for 75, they also make you buy cartridges that cost the same amount of a fully, working printer.

      Test my memory. I think it's 18.5 grams when it's empty and 25 g full. Be back in a few minutes.

    Are the BCH inks comparable in quality to the Epson inks that come in the OEM cartidges? I've used aftermarket inks in the past for my Photo R1800 and the color quality was exceedingly poor.

      It doesn't matter too much for those Piezo jets. You can use both pigment and dye ink.

    Great video! Have you found a way to get around Epson's ransomware firmware update that bricks the printer if it detects 3rd party ink cartridges?

    • @BCHTechnologies

      You can roll back the update

      @@BCHTechnologies Thank you for your response! I have read that Epson found a way to make some of the firmware update permanent so that a rollback won't work. Have you found otherwise?

    • @BCHTechnologies
      @BCHTechnologies  Před 3 lety +2

      @@compupsych3897 You have to do a hard update, which you put it into firmware update mode. For those ones that can't update, there is a theory of corrupting the EEPROM then update them. I haven't had time to try them. Basically, you unplug the printer when it's about 3/4 of the way finish update, then roll the update again.
