Not sure about Tommy Bolin. An average guitarist thrust into the limelight by being selected for Deep Purple. It fell apart fairly quickly - as did he.

I saw Black Sabbath in 74. UFO in 75, Blackmore in 82. Uli Roth in 85 in Chicago was mind blowing. i got into Jimi in 71 and still am. Schenker is still great. Uli has his moments but went beyond everyone. Lots of them if you don't mention Frank Marino you missed a lot. One of the best for sure. People just couldn't admit it. He was that damn good. Fast, soulful. Try Rockin' Me baby off of What's Next. I saw Van Halen. Still, when he did his solo I thought, I wish it was Frank. Yes, EV expanded some things. But you missed what Frank did you'd go. What? And he did play stadiums.
