When I-540 opens in the Fall of 2024 the growth will explode in Johnston County.

Clayton is way behind in quality retail and restaurants. Been here 12 years and they have been promising retail... it's never happened (except for good grocery stores). I'm sure someone will say "yeah, but did you try that place downtown" There are ZERO good restaurants downtown. And I'm not sure what is preventing good ones from coming here but they don't. And The Waterfront area is nothing but homes, condos, and apartments. No retail. Wendell Falls seems to have their act together with great retail and restaurants. So bizarre Clayton can't/won't.

Moved to Clayton from Southern CA. It's exceeded my expectations by a mile; wonderful community.
The few compromises (lack of convenience and fewer retail options) are well worth the trade off for lower cost of living, less crime, open space, and friendly neighbors.

Thank you for contributing that! I realized I called the video pros and cons, but I never mentioned any cons. I agree that the biggest con would be that Clayton is a little isolated and doesn’t have the wealth of shopping options that you’d find closer to Raleigh. But I think a lot more will come in the next few years as the city keeps growing.
