Bought it used a few days ago for an amazing price. And I love this thing so far. Perfect for older pc games.
I totally agree with you. I probably finished 10 old games that I would never play on my desktop 😅
WTF lol PS4 pro jet engine m only concern is will that fan will blow and come out of device??
Have you not patched your ally? Or have you messed around too much with the settings or installed some weird software perhaps ? My model suspends as expected when I press the power button and I haven't experienced the crashes you are referring to. Also, pushing a microphone right up its backend is not going to give a realistic idea of how it sounds.
I keeping my Ally updated and trying not to install apps which might reduce the performance. I will need to place microphone above the screen somehow:D thank you for the advise
I think yours has something with the fans i never hear my fans only of i push it when im playing 30 whats and its not even that loud
I am using it for 3 months and it was like this from day one. Most likely ASUS has poor quality control:)
@@TrueEasyTechYea my fan never did this
Too late just bought, fortunately all reason I can bear with them, but what those reason is worth refering suggestion, appreciated.
It is steal an amazing handheld!:)
I heard steam deck fan, but was not a like jet engine what i am hearing from that when pushing it.
The test was done with the mic right next to the unit. Not sure how many people pay with their ear 5mm away from the unit. I don't.
@@1nv1d alot people can hear it if the handle is push, bigger reason ones gets the Ally when there at home alot push it to hit higher frame rate.
I adjusted volume so it would be similar to what it sounds when you holding it in your hands:)
The new models the SD cards fixed as well man. Sometimes sleep works but i usually turn it off anyway it does noty take long to boot up into my 2 terabyte fast drive. But yeah steam deck sleep functions way better. It's why i bought both. Anker 20'000 mah battery pack gives you loads more battery also. I have 2 battery packs lol.
i purchased mine during last black friday, probably one of the old batch :( thank you! i am thinking to get one big power bank too for my ally :)
yeah they fixed it at revision 8. I bought mine 3 months ago and it did kill the SD card but did research and saw revision 8 so when i took it back i made sure it had a 8 at the start of the serieal number or a 9 actually it was more than 3 months as the 8 meant it was manufactured in aughust 2023 and bought it in december or late november. and haven't had an issue and cane the SD Card ( british word for hammer the SD card) in triple AAA games all the time. @@TrueEasyTech
I went with the legion go strictly because i mostly play call of duty and the bigger screen seemed necessary
It is perfect for COD games :) Rog Ally also good choice
If you have long fingers the fans will burn your fingers while you hold them on the triggers
That was the dealbreaker for me. Got a Steam Deck OLED instead and it doesn't want to kill me
And yeah, my fingers would numb and my hands cramp after 30 minutes of use. Reminds me of a Switch, maybe slightly more comfortable. The Deck OLED feels like I'm holding a cloud though, you don't even feel it
The OG Deck I thought was too heavy and it made it uncomfortable for me but the OLED somehow mitigates that
Also the Ally screen gets very hot and could burn your skin
The back "paddles" feel like shitty tumors and the device generally is not ergonomic
Fan noise also has that whiney frequency that bothered me way too much alongside being burned
Since you have to use the Ally around 15w for the fans to not whine, it made more sense for me to get a Deck. The OLED gives me 4 hours of battery life on games that gave me an hour and a half on the Ally.
Ally thumbsticks are dogass too
I felt like I just read my thoughts 😄 Steam Deck Oled is a true king:)
With the fan, you won't hear the jet taking off when you take it with you on a trip.
I've had the rog ally for about 6 months now, I used it a few times, but when I used it I was very satisfied, probably your fan has a problem, mine only bothers me when I have a customized profile at 43w and the 2 fans at 100% And I'm very sensitive to noise. It's really the only thing that ruins it is the battery but that's something common among these 1gen handhelds
I am also very sensitive to sound, but at 43w it is not bothering me like when it is at 20w doing swings between 60 and 70 degrees 😄
sleep is set wrong on your device. Power Options enable hibernate
no game ever crashec for me. Games from 2018-now
I just finished shadow of the tomb raider and every time it use to crash after waking up. Also Ratchet and Clank rift apart and control :)
Your device is unreasonable loud. if i play at 30w full load my temps are rarely over 70 celsius. I suggest investing in a custom fan profile.
btw, turn off CPU boost immediately. that might be the culprit. with it on mine reaches 87-90 sometimes foo
Thank you! I will try it today:)
The only real disadvantage of rog is the poor battery, SD card slot and screen bezels. Your joystick can be adjusted on armory crate to be more sensitive so you don't need large motion to get things done. You should learn how to utilize this device. It is amazing & highly customizable because of armory crate.
I tried to increase sensitivity for thumb sticks and noticed that I was still pushing left thumb stick all the way up when I was walking or running in any game:) thanks for great advice!
Bezels looks worse than sd lcd even
Ergonomics is purely subjective. I find the Ally very comfortable in my limited use with it
By far best.
Too late I already bought it and I have no issues with it. I don't hear that noise btw. Like a jet engine.
it start happening after few months and now it is something i got use to :D
Perhaps take it apart clean the fans? @@TrueEasyTech
I just got one 2 days ago to play hell divers 2 . I had a steam deck and this th8ng is wayyyy better than the steam deck imo. It was between this or the legion go I ended up getting this because I found a good deal on a open box at best buy .
To bad bought it
If you learn how to use it, you are going to love it:)
A lot of people who buy the system is because they want a mobile solution to play triple-a games which you get. Your noob, and you just got yours and it might be your first true handheld for triple-a.
There's more positive reason and systems. Take quite a while to update.
Bruh I dropped it and the Bumper Button almost came off I just pushed it back in 😂😅
:D
Okay let's make this clear I have not once had a SD card issue Hope I never do Don't really care cuz I have four terabytes 2280 Western digital black in here. Temps are not that bad your temps are only high as they are because clearly you have the games graphics pretty much maxed out any true PC player knows that that's a no-no on this type of system. Everything that you're bringing up as a complaint is not to be rude negligence. Now the SD card thing yeah but at the same time you knew about it you should have ramped up your fans. Only true bad thing about this system is the battery.. also they make cases for the wrong ally to make it feel better in your hand. Sorry I'm only upset cuz people knocking these systems when we should be happy they exist. Things people say and do just to get some reviews and a review you're putting out is the same review as 100 other really wish people would learn to talk about something else. The only advice I can give to anybody is Don't look at it as a dedicated handheld look at as a gaming miniature laptop. Well people please stop comparing a laptop to steams handheld steam system is a dedicated gaming handheld we're all guy and legion go or not they are a laptop with gaming stuff implemented. And the sleep issues are all software issues meaning with the right settings you can fix. And why not just turn the device off when you're done with it do you won't have an issue with the fans at all. This is the first of its kind there are going to be trial and error Just enjoy it support it and it will be better later the rog 2
I think his unit is a PS4 disguised as a ROG Ally...😊
:)
i see why valve need an os for their console
Windows doesn’t see handheld as profitable part of their business yet, until some company will sell their handhelds like Nintendo Switch
windows is simply a bad choice of OS for a handheld, heck its not even very good for a PC
I agree! We need special optimised version of windows for hendhelds
lol you be buggin bro
To late
Oxymoron. All your 7 reasons are invalid even you say so.
Your fan has a problem
Will need to open it and check, thank you
