It should also let you get a trick on the shortcut. Speed stat is useless when reversing, it's only useful when boosting for this category.

Maybe a tight reverse u-turn maneuver to back up onto the yellow boost panel while facing the finish line, then a tight K-turn after the boost to quickly get back in reverse orientation.
You know this would be much faster on the Wii Wheel because that A button is for looking backwards.
