    A quick note on the light meter: This was used only for these tests, and I don't recommend using it in the field. Instead, I recommend using the histogram approach I talk about in this video: czcams.com/video/OTGFG9uWUUI/video.html

      It's more involved than what I can answer in a short YT reply, but there are two things I can offer to help you out: One, I cover this in-depth, step-by-step in my online video course at ProInteriors.NathanCool.com Another option is to look through the first book in my REP series (on interiors), which covers those basics and more at amzn.to/3FA0x6g Between these you will have plenty enough information to get started using off-camera flash for REP.

    Glad to see a video on the comparison. Bravo. I personally use two Yongnuo speedlights mounted side by side on a homemade handheld bracket so I can fire both in the bigger rooms. I have a third ready to mount on a stand if needed. Pretty economical and in most cases plenty of light output.

    I use the 200 exclusively. I own a 600 but rarely use it. I’ve attached a speedlite pouch to one of my tripod legs and use it as a holster for my 200 with a pistol grip. The switch isn’t a problem because I only use it once per shoot. It remains on all the time and I control power from the camera mounted trigger.

    I have a Think Tank pouch secured to my website where I keep my AD200 while shooting. When I am finished shooting the Think Tank pouch acts as a cover for my ARCA Swiss D4 on my tripod. Total win! Noel

    I switched away from the Yongnuos myself, Nathan. Bought a Flashpoint Zoom Li-on to go with my Xplor 600, and the Evolv 200 is on its way. Got the Flashpoint R2 Pro Mk II transceiver and so far they work perfectly together. It's awesome being able to control the power from atop my camera and turn the lights on or off when I need to switch between them for different rooms. Lovin it. Can't wait to get the Evolv. I might not need my heavy Xplor anymore for most shoots.

    Thanks Nathan! This video was very informative! I bought the AD200Pro instead of the AD200 because it's supposed to have fixed the problems with the switch and the screen that you mentioned. Those two changes alone seemed like they should be worth the extra $50. I still haven't used it for a real estate shoot yet, but I expect I will soon. The AD600 is so big and heavy that I don't like carrying it around any more than necessary. The AD200Pro should fit very nicely in my sling bag along with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark II, Panasonic/Leica 8-18mm f/2.8-4 lens, a 25mm prime, and a few accessories. I might still use the AD600 for large rooms and dampening shadows for exteriors as you showed in another video, (possibly combining it with a pair of AD200Pros,) but I expect the AD200Pro will be a good workhorse for this type of thing, especially since I can open up my aperture two stops brighter than a full frame camera and get the same depth of field.

    I have the XPLR 600 and speedlights, and I agree you can do a lot with both. But that 600 is hard on the back due to its weight. I think I want to add the 200 to my kit and just pull out the 600 when really needed.

    Hi! I've been watching your videos for awhile. This past Friday, I put my house up for sale through a realtor. I did all the photography myself! Realtor indicated he couldn't do any better and several others realtors have commented positively to my pics (mostly around here they just either use flash alone or ambient alone.....even on high end homes! Hey, it's WV, what can I say). Still very much a newb at this but you have really helped me see how I can make my interior and exterior shots so much better.
    BTW, moving to FL so what out!......LOL

    Hi Nathan, I absolutely LOVE your videos. You’re practically my mentor at this point lol. I even just ordered 4/5 of your books and they were just delivered today. I haven’t had time to read them yet so I don’t know if it’s discussed in your exterior book, but could you maybe do a twilight exterior tutorial of a house soon? I’m such a visual learner and at this point, I have the most trust in your methods over other youtubers twilight exterior tutorials. Thanks and hope all is well! :)

    Your videos have been most informative, especially compositing images for amazing real estate images, which I've learned to apply to other genres. Next in line for your videos is to add the Flashpoint Zoom Li-on X R2 TTL On-Camera Round Flash Speedlight as part of your setup. This speedlight can be used either as a slave or as a command controller for other Flashpoint units.

    Great flash review. Between the Xplor and the Zoom I think I have all the power and supplemental power I need. For content ideas, I'd love to see a real time shoot of a property or atleast a downstairs and then real time editing. Just to see what you actually shoot and then how fast you process it. Thanks for all the videos and books!

      Thanks Roxanne. I'm curious how you like the GD400, in particular do you leave it on a stand mostly? Was curious about handholding it...didn't look like it had a handle? Would love to hear any other input you have on that light...it's one that's definitely piqued my interest.

    • @roxanneashe4902
      @roxanneashe4902 Před 5 lety +1

      Hi Nathan,
      I actually sold my 600 to purchase the 400 because the 600 was too heavy to lug around and be very quick in real estate shoots. I handhold the 400 all the time for larger rooms and just love how I have great light that doesn’t require any set up. I use my 200 for smaller homes but when I need that extra light I just whip the 400 out. I consider it one of the best buys I have made in equipment! As for the handle I just grab the light stand attachment...I do wish the grip was more comfortable. Have not put it on a stand yet...but it’s so light it will be easy to use in most situations. For light output I will admit sometimes I do flash more than once but not often.

    Well Nathan, the 600 just came in today. I don't need to reinvent the wheel and am studying under both you and Rich. I am making my shoots look and act as close you what you do as possible. I am not shaving my head and I do shoot Canon but I hope to continue my steep learning curve and your vids and books are making it happen, albeit seeming slowly. On a side note I am interested in the amount of RAM memory you use on the editing PC?

    • @NathanCoolPhoto
      @NathanCoolPhoto  Před 4 lety +2

      32 GB RAM, but that's only part of it...also using 6 Intel i7 cores 3.7 GHz (12 logical processors) , and an SSD drive for my apps, which makes the biggest difference.

    Hi Nathan, I'm a big fan and you've really helped my real estate photography game!! I have recently obtained a Godox XPro trigger and receiver as I have an old SB-700 Speedlight. I had one of the Yongnuo RF-603C II triggers but found the lack of high speed sync affected my window pulls (would get black bars across bottom of shot). Long story short, want some advice please if I can! Some rooms (larger windows or if it's quite bright outside) I find if I lower the SS to down around or under 1/1000 to get that window pull (the view being too bright at a higher SS), the flash isn't very bright and often ruins the window pull. Can you advise if the AD200 would be a lot brighter than the SB-700 and thus create better pulls?

    • @NathanCoolPhoto
      @NathanCoolPhoto  Před 3 lety

      Thanks! Glad to hear! I never increase SS past 1/200. If you are then you're doing something wrong. I'd recommend downloading my lighting guide, which also has tables to compare power on various lights and also various setups. Here's a link if you'd like to check that out: amzn.to/3jMjYgn

    Good stuff! Do you have any comments on the Neewer Vision 4? It seems very competitively priced and might be a good choice for those on a budget. I am looking at getting one myself.

    • @NathanCoolPhoto
      @NathanCoolPhoto  Před 5 lety

      The Neewer V4 is only 300Ws (not much stronger than the AD200), built out of mostly plastic, looks bulky, and would require dumb triggers unless you move entirely to the Neewer line. Not something I'd recommend for REP, for just a tad more you can get the AD200.

  • @TheCaboChannelMexico
    @TheCaboChannelMexico Před 3 lety

    Hi Nathan, what about a situation where you have two speedlights side by side on a bracket? How would their combined output compare say to an AD200 model. The reason I ask is that I had a few speedlights knocking around, different models (Nikon + RX) and Godox with integrated RX and I found a bracket where the speedlights were approx 3 inches apart. Do you think 2 speedlights would be equal to or indeed surpass the output of the AD200 model? I am sure that many RE guys have a ton of cheap speedlights knocking around and with a $10 dollar bracket it might be an alternative. Obviously, it's not as portable as a single Ad200 but in these tighter times, I wondered if it is a credible alternative?. Thanks for your great videos, they are much appreciated
