It was the car we all came to see, although you'd rarely see it for long, just a brief red blur and a sting of gravel. You could hear it about three minutes before you saw it, absolutely thunderous. Andy Burton is an absolute legend.
The reality is it was a beast of a car and this Herefordshire farmer scared the shit out of all the big competitors because he was so quick and most likely would have got even quicker as time went on. Exciting to watch, what is there now in Rally that comes even close?!
I remember seeing this car in the forests, absolutely mental, the site and sound was something to behold, trouble was, after Andy had gone past everything else seemed slow. Good memories.
It reminded me of the Stratos , it was the sound you were listening for ,and you knew what was coming, and Andy could certainly drive that car ,did he ever use the brake pedal !!!!.All the wimps who joined in to ban it from the championships should be ashamed.

I'm so glad I got to see this thing in action whilst it was still going. My favourite thing about it was that it was really apt - it was almost like what could have been for Peugeot if Group B had continued into the 90s. I can't believe the MSA banned specials like this, they really had to ruin it.
@@maxwellhatkow6209 The MSA, under pressure from alot of top drivers and teams with a vested interest in promoting traditional, four-wheel drive rally cars, decided that non-production rally cars would be illegal from 2012 onwards. so yeah he was too good and the big teams got it banned with force.
Its hard to imagine that the MSA forced this car out of Rallying because it was to FAST and was he was basically winning everything and showing up Manufactures cars as being slow MSA = Backward Wankers
GM Europe should have engaged with Andy to develop a WRC Team with the Opel Corsa as the base car. He would have been a very good replacement for the late Tony Fall.

The only reason i kept going to watch national events. This car was awesome, and they should have designed a class for this type of vehicle.
