    References (spoilers)
    1. The patch note: the main character pretends to be constantly harrassed by the "organization" which actually does end up happening as CERN learns of his time machine
    2. The scroll numbers: they are a reference to the world line locator, the main cast attemps to get above 1.0 to stop a tragic future, the numbers use the same light fixures the indicator does.
3: The message: first it ascertains the world line which is basicly which parralell reality you are in. El psy congroo is a pass phrase the main character has another repeat while he jokingly pretends to be a mad scientist. She always gets the pass phrase wrong.
4: The banana: a banana was the first thing they sent back in time though coming out as green and gelatinous.
5: the premise: the show revolves aroundsending text messages back in Tome and eventually (like outer wilds) sending your own memories back through time to overwrite your previous self.

Good, also, it's SERN (Société Européenne de Recherche Nucléaire) not CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche sur le Nucléaire), It's based on it but the fact is that the fictional is a private society while the true one is an European collaboration, wich make the "secret part" much less plausible in the real one than in the fictional counterpart.

the realization that the light fixtures are the same shape as the scrolls and the implication that they could have hidden scrolls like this anywhere in the game has me absolutely reeling tbh. i wonder if they had that in mind when they came up with the designs.

  • @argo6043
    @argo6043 Před měsícem +24

The numbers on the scroll are a reference to the Divergence Meter from Steins:Gate. Each "world line" has its own value displayed by the meter, allowing the MC to know if he is moving towards his original divergence line.
Throughout the story of steins, the MC Okabe is altering the events and "diverging" from his original timeline. After accidentally creating a machine that can send emails to the past (d-mail), a snowballing effect of events leads Sern to ruling the distant future. They have a monopoly on Time Machines and as the original world line divergence point, Okabe has to try and prevent these events from taking place. "El Psy Congroo" is something like a catchphrase or callsign in the story.
Its a really good watch or read if the plot sounds interesting. Lots of time loop shenanigans, and quite the compelling story.
Sorry if there are any errors, its quite the convoluted story and its been a while since I've read/watched it.

The reference is doubly funny when you consider that in Steins;Gate they ALSO use a black hole as means to transfer memories-turned-quantifiable-digital-data into the past

  • @ThatOneTowel

That's so cool! I know from a few streams Jeffery has commented in that he really wanted to add a Steins;Gate reference in the original scroll text up there, since it already was about sending memories back in time, but I didn't think he'd actually put one in nearby. Cheers to the dev team, such an amazing game and I'm excited to see what they come out with next!

The numbers on the scroll are a reference to a device in the show called the divergence meter. In Steins;Gate, the number on the meter is known as the divergence value, an indicator for which timeline (or in the show's lingo, "world line") you're in. In the game, it's most likely an indicator for which loop you're in, relative to the start of your save file.
In Steins;Gate, the characters have a goal of preventing the dark futures that wait for them by reaching a certain world line that's independent of any pre-determined outcomes. They refer to the hypothetical world line as "Steins Gate." In a way, the loop in which you finish the game on its true ending is your Steins Gate; the one timeline in your entire playthrough where you determine the future ahead.

firstly, the time machine that you shown is a time machine, but not the one that send message to the past, it's one that trully travel throught time and send matter. the one that only send message is the Phonewave (Name subject to change), it's litteraly a microwave equipped with a phone to make it usable with only a call.
Secondly, the "world line" is the main subject of steins;gate, it is kind of "quantified timelin" aroound wich timeline are, in them some event are unevitable and the main quest of steins;gate is to get to a precise world line, will not spoil more about it.
Lastly, the "El Psy Congroo" is a reference to the chuny of the main character, he is a college student called Okabe Rintarou, but he play as if he was a mad scientist called Hooin Kyouma, researched by an organisation and in comunication with someone with it's telephone, at the end of each "call" he say "El Psy Congroo", and he also talk about destiny using the words "Steins Gate".
