Anyone who rates Alien Isolation only 23rd on a list of horror games clearly doesn't know what good games are.
This game was way more complex than I imagined, I'm impressed
So, a little bit of an explanation on the monster in the ending where you don't stop your mom.
The Filth, which had spread through out the base, is the same entity that you unleash at the end. This game (as well as The Park) take place in the universe of The Secret World/Secret World Legends and The Filth is the cosmic antagonist that you're trying to slow throughout TSW. Mild spoilers, but The Filth is literally the next universe trying to come into being, but before it can have its place it has to strangle out the current one. It promises power and well ... continued existence ... to those that will serve it, hence what happened to your mom in the game.
Spoilers: It's not exactly the next universe, that's more of result of tricking it in the last moments of eating the universe into creating something new from its dreams using the Gaia Engines seen in the game. Otherwise, it all just turns to chaos. It's said that they might not have enough power left to reboot the universe again if this current universe is devoured in some of the lore.
@@Dr.Fluffles Thanks for the clarification, it's been a quite a bit since I played TSW and the lore can get away from me.
@@Kingsly9802 Np, it can get a bit confusing sometimes, too lol
I had not heard of TSW before reading this and the tie-in does seem to explain a lot of the... brevity? in the ending. Thank you for sharing, much appreciated! Imma be reading up on lore now hah.
That ending is karma for dumping the toy astronauts out of their spaceship and onto the floor in the beginning of the game. Don’t think anyone will be picking up Shane either...
I gotta say, not a bad game, but it didn't stick the landing. Like you said, it really needed to delve deeper into certain mysteries they brought up without exploring (clones), and the endings weren't different enough to make them worth it.
It’s cute as a biologist hearing gab try to say eukaryotic and prokaryotic lol
I think you missed a console in the room with the clones that explains their purpose.
Should any member of the crew commit one (of a list) of violations, that crew member will be replaced. Literally. The crew’s memories are scanned and implanted into the clones nightly, like an auto-backup.
(The list of violations is very “Weyland-Yutani”)
Also, your character is not a clone. You still have the mark of the book on your hand, from when you peeked in the book in the basement as a child. A clone wouldn’t have that.
It is possible, likely even, that your fellow crew members have been replaced at least once. (Remember being chased into the rover, turning back and seeing *three* spacesuits chasing you?)
A clone of the son of an enlightened-worshiper, who's employed specifically as her son, would...
The clone part totally gives me Doctor Who vibes and some Venom vibes as well.
In switzerland rockstacking is also a thing, usually in creeks and riverbeds high up in the mountains. And of course, trailmarkers.
Wait a minute..... A handy man. In space. That fixes stuff. Employed by a shady company. Against an alien creature. That infects people. With tentacle like apendages. And strange symbols. That makes you mad. And tells you things. And makes you see things.......
Welp... MAKE US WHOOOOLE!!!
Remember no headshots
5:10 - stonestacking thing, pretty common in Norway as well.
I did really enjoy the character writing in this. Shane actually had some real human reactions, lol. The writing department behind TSW games is generally pretty good; I just wish they put more work like this into the main game.
If you do want to try out some of the broader story in the MMO behind this, it's free and has a lot of fun stories, and generally can be done solo just for the story. It's Secret World Legends.
The song's name is 7 Element
By a Russian singer, Vitas.
Thank you for anticipating all the questions :))
And it definitely sounded Vitas hahaha
by vitas
THANK YOU!!
Thank youuuuu
The rock stacking thing happens where I live too! Its kinda creepy cause you find them like all over the forest and especially near rivers? Why we do this? lol
If you tune out of any conversation with a mathematician, when you tune back in they will be talking about the dreaming ones.
I can only catch these on youtubez for the most part but I love your playthrough of this game. Space AND Lovecraft? Hellz yeah.
The stacking rocks thing happens everywhere. It can be kind of disrespectful or even dangerous in some places, though, as they either represent funeral spots or markers for various things like safe trails
I hate that I can barely watch streams anymore, but I'm happy you played this one! I'm so intrigued by it, but can't buy it, so yay!
Josephine’s voice actor is Izzy from Digimon. Lol
49:30 That feelin when you gotta do some bullshit, but you're gonna go HAM doin it. Love it! "Out, right, airlock, button, LETS FUCKING GO"
I know I'm late to the comments but I find it interesting how people react to this game/story that have no exposure to the other game in the universe that came before this. Moons of Madness is a good game but I feel like it doesn't "land" mostly for people who didn't get the backstory and all the connections to the previous game. There are so many head nods in this game to The Secret World and Secret World Legends. Including the fact that the things happening in this lab were not just missed or unknown but that Orochi Group and Manticore actually sanctioned and put things into motion to ALLOW the things to happen for nefarious means. Throughout Secret World we slowly find out about how the companies are using their workers as lab rats and keeping the truth from them. Highly recommend you play it Gab. It's super lovecraftian and think you would like it!
Wait... So before Moon of Madness, there are 2 another series about this story? 😵😵
@@novy21b Just one. It's called Secret World Legends. It's free to play. Highly recommend.
That is a massive doorway. I'm getting 5th Element vibes.
I was really unfamiliar with Lovecraftian style of games before I started watching this channel!
I really like it, they're really an unusual kind of horror I love it ~
Hahaha. When explaining the typical plot in a lovecraft story to a friend once I said "basically the end of lovecraft is one of two options 1) You save the world from the monsters and you die or 2) You don't save the world from the monsters and you die. Either way the protagonist is usually dead at the end. LOL
@@jenniferhummel7496 So true. You don't win Lovecraft, you survive Lovecraft. And sometimes that's worse that not surviving. Assuming, of course, death brings peace, which is also not guaranteed.
I finally finished catching up on moons of madness, the entire game looked so cool and looked like it was really cool to play. A little disappointed in the endings, slightly anticlimactic after the cool looking monsters we saw earlier in the game - I was expecting some giant beastie to pop out of the moon. Either way, the story was cool and I really enjoyed watching it. Your narration and reactions make it even more entertaining! Thanks Gab 🙏😁
2:46 "groans of G-force causing discomfort" lmfao
3 hours, the render time must have been mad
aaahh now i got this song stuck in my head
When it says corona at 1:53:10
This is probably going to be mind-blowing
Well we already know that Lukas's serum from the files is going to work on the roots because that is such an intricate puzzle to put the player through for nothing to happen in game
Thx for the gameplay Gab .
She was saying in Part 1 how familiar the main characters voice sounds....I think she's hearing Chris Parnell (Jerry on Rick and Morty)
Also I'm 200% certain the voice actor for Josephine is one for South Park
Super excited to play this game now! Thanks Gab ❤️
The 7th Element by Vitas is the song at the beginning mentioned. I'm surprised no on posted this before, it's a song everyone should hear.
Anyone else getting hard core Soma vibes from this game?
Just so many similarities I can't help but draw a comparison.
Also, if you enjoyed watching this or played it and don't know what Soma is, you should definitely look into it. The less you know, the better. Don't watch any videos or read about it at all, just trust me. It was made by the people that created Amnesia, but in my opinion, it was vastly superior.
Definitely a game that any horror fan should play at least once.
Yay something to watch after work 🖤 you rock Gab !
4:52 I don't know if that is entirely buddhist or a mix of beliefs, but in japanese buddhist mythology, hell have a multitude of different layers (like in a lot of other mythologies/religions), and between them there's one known as "Sai no Kawara", which is where spirits of children go, there, they are encouraged to stack rocks in order to build a stairway to paradise, but before they can make any significant progress, an Oni would appear, destroy their piles and beat them with a kanabō (Jizō eventually saves them). Because of this belief (probably), japanese people believe that stacking rocks will grant them protection and good luck, not just for them, but any deceased relative as well, each rock representing one person. *Now, this is surface level knowledge at best, so if anyone want to know more, Google is your friend;*
5:34 I don't know about that, at the very least, you can count my country off that list, people here are pretty superstitious, but being a country pretty much entirely christian, something like that would never happen;
15:36 That doesn't happen with me, the only things that get stuck in my head are things I hate, which must mean that my brain hates me.
. . . Talk about an off-topic comment~
So not to be completely off-topic: While the "just tentacles" in the end was a bit disappointing, it was indeed a great game. Now, besides this, Call of Cthulhu and The Sinking City, which was the other game you mentioned? Because I don't remember it, so considering you have a playthrough of it, I would like to go take a look.
Also sorry for the wall of text.
WOO! Looking forward to this!
I know that song you mentioned in the beginning and love it. Lol
Glad your a lot calmer. Everyone else would have been screaming and asking questions. It's like bruh I don't know I'm just watching the play through.
not gabs fucking roasting them for their font
Some games Im fine with just watching. thank you.
Your stream are always the best 🤩 keep doing what you love 💗
A wild lust for potatoes
Oh my god I figured it out! I was thinking " the filth" isn't really a Lovecraftian theme, but it's not a Love raft game at all... it's Ligotti! Read "The Night Class" and "Nethescurial" to get what I mean, he's SO GOOD.
Well, you're right, PT isn't a full game. I'm pretty sure PT stands for "Playable Teaser". It is just a demo.
Plus it sucks, it's just a haunted house walking simulator. The only reason everyone jizzed themselves is because it was a hideo kojima game with Norman Reedus, and everyone thinks it's the best thing ever but it sucks an incredible amount of ass mostly because we will never see the finished product but also because all you do is walk around and get a spook every now and then. I've had encounters with flying roaches more terrifying than the PT demo, and unlike the PT demo my encounter with the roach actually had a conclusion 🤣
Watch as Thobos's tentacle fetish slowly infects the whole universe.
Late but this actually reminds me of Amnesia: Rebirth but if the plot was messier
My first responce at 2:01:55
Its a giant artichoke 🤔
So this was a game about waking up Azathoth...... well that sucks. Goodbye all of everything. haha!
I never heard of voluntary rock stacking until now.
that looks like a good game! i wanna play that
most people can't do a pull up.
for the clone issue i'd argue that Shane atleast is the original, he has the scars and mental traumas in place, i doubt terran tech showcased in that game would be able to reproduce Shane 100% accurate, or accurate enough so the eldritch taint from his childhood would still work
the game : 39 min you found the z series injector
me : oh look's like a phaser
Yes Gab I know that song lmao. Have you heard Opera 2? It's another song from him. First one I heard from him and I actually thought it was amazing. Amazing high notes.
Me: *walks in*
Me at spooky parts: ohhhh fuck nope nope nope nope I'm out.
I kind of want to know what that list because I agree: Alien Isolation is a phenomenal game and should definitely be higher than 23 but I also want to know what the Top 5 are though. That list is clearly subjective and I want to do what type of player the author is based on their Top 5
Bloodbourne is on 5
Deadly Premonition #4
Bioshock 2
Dead Space 2
PT
Okay so I do not know what "PT" means but it seems like that author enjoys story-driven horror games that involve guns... Well I know Horror games get a bad rep sometimes for the lack of story with excessive jump scares but there are better games out there. I enjoy those games but I still think there are better options
Oh you've played Arkham horror, that's so cool
Pretty cool, but a little disappointed in the monster at the end. I wanted it to be sooo much bigger. Oh well, off to find my next adventure!! Thanks Gab!!❤❤
I think the closest thing to habitat in Dutch would be 'leefruimte' or 'leefgebied' or something?
14:58 "That was a really cool diarrhea tree"
they probably wrote that artical the way they got scared like the games they played that scared them nad yes pt is not a game its a demo
Shane graduated from Lovecraft's Miskatonik University.
I got creeped out at the beginning because all day I’ve had that exact same weird Russian song stuck in my head 😂😂😂
Wow, I won't be able to watch that video in one take :)
Navi went crazy in the box. HEY LISTEN HEY LISTEN... LISTEN.... LISTEN
"Hold Tight Lucas"
I held my breath with him. smh
Why are all the Lovecraft games alliteration?
Call of Cthulu
Sinking City
Moons of Madness
People also stack rocks on hiking trails in South Africa, usually at the highest point.
Also I read a discussion about Lovecraft once and it said that Lovecraftian horror works best before it is revealed. It's the ineffable horror that we imagine that is worse, so when it is revealed as a physical monster or given a finite form that it is inherently disappointing. That's why the endings of these games are always a bit of a disappointment. I can't remember where I read that though!
Lol girl I’ve NEVER been able to do a pull up! My arms are sooooo weak!
1:00:49 I LITERALLY. THOUGHT IF YOU ACTUALLY GOT AN ACHIEVEMENT CALLED FUCKING TREE HUGGER 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Automatic like coz I'm loyal like that,
P.S
This girls awesome!!!
“Droid” is a term trademarked by Lucasfilm. Legally, it shouldn’t even be in this game. I remember when Lucasfilm actually sued and won the lawsuit against the Android phone company when they made phones called “droids”
*after serious interaction with mom*
Gab: I’m getting a zit.
Video game mathematicians and nonsensical bullshit on whiteboards or chalkboards. Name a more iconic duo.
Japan sounds so cool. Not sure why anyone would leave. I heard they are giving away houses in the Suburbs. idk
You mean the best song from one of the best Bruce Willis movies the fifth element of course I know that song!!!!
his voice reminds me of Chris pine
Wow that 25 list is pretty bad lol PT can't be #1 when it's not even a finished game, or a game that will be released in the near future. That's highly discrediting the other 24 games, that are released games.
This game is insane, the creators are either really smart with biology and astronautics or they did a heck of a lot of research.
Really neat game, fun to watch.
Really enjoy your videos! Keep up the awesome work!
The voice reminds me of Connor from Detroit: Become Human
You are the best 💖
Get him to listen to another Vitas' song called Opera. 😂 I bet he can't get that high note out of his head.
The main character sounds like Nathan Fillion a bit
The shiny suit, tounge guy?
1:22:17 Haha
1:53 "A corona surrounds the dark" hmmmm watching this in 2021....
Yeah, same :D I chuckled a bit when she immediatly thought of the beer - past-Gab has a big storm incoming
The voice actor reminds me of Keanu Reeves
Was Outlast on the list?
Today on Let's Play, Gab discovers Vitas, and hates it.
Lol
Speak friend and enter.
Mellon :D
A song in your head. That is weird
How is _bioshock 2_ a horror game?
Bioshock 2 beats Bioshock?
corona
She is cute.

Gab uploads excitement doubles
Gab I♥️ u xoxoxo 💋😘
Meh endings but drifting in space is one of top 5 fears 😅
(ignores repeated prompts to strike) It doesn't tell me what to do!
I like the way you sometimes cough, It's quite a casual, soft calm one and very pleasant to hear. ^^
(...I hope It didn't sound wrong D:)
ok
