Thanks for the review. Just bought one on ebay and am looking forward to working with it. I've wanted one since I was a Marine in Vietnam during the "Pleistocene era.......All of the correspondent who were brave enough to come out with us carried Leicas, I suspect those were R2 or R3. Anyway, enjoyed your take on this camera.
Film loading on this camera is simplicity itself. If it isn't, you're doing something wrong. You can actually load a film one handed (if you know what you're doing). Not many film SLR's you can say that about.
Well, "there really is no such thing as Art. There are only artists" An image doesn't need to be in line with the work of other people, but it does need to be pleasent and significant to you, so any picture you are truely pleased with will be as good as any picture I'll find on Flicker. That's my opinion. But I'll check it out regardless. Thank you for this conversation
Thank you for the feedback. You are absolutely right. Unfortunately, I no longer have the R7. So, a do-over will not be possible. However, going forward, I will try to go more in depth. I really do appreciate the constructive criticism. Thanks! Brian
I bought a Leica R7 in Oslo way back in 1997 when my R4s failed. (I was told that the R series were nothing but Minolta bodies assembled in Portugal. The R6 was the first German made SLR camera) Since I had 3 lenses I went in for R7. The metering system failed within a month. It was sent to the Germany for service and I got charged US 600. I was told that I had probably dropped the camera. After a few weeks it failed again. I soon got rid of the camera and the overrated R lenses. My Olympus OM1 bought in the 80's was a much more reliable camera and it still works.
Thank you for taking my criticism into consideration! I would (If I may) suggest to never start a review while the camera is loaded, and present at least a couple of images, along with "subjective" data. I can definitely understand the joy and excitement of having a new "toy" to play with, so I know why that happened, and I myself am seduced by the Leica Rs, so that's why I was particularly disappointed. Anyways, Enjoy your new Leica and enjoy making future videos! Have a good day
I'm sorry, but that was quite a bare-bones review. It would have been better if you demonstrated something; images taken with it, shutter sound and frame advance sound, the horrible film loading system you were talking about, the unorganized viewfinder... something.
I'm not so sure my pictures are going to be the best examples you will see. However, I always suggest checking out flickr and flickriver.c*m for sample images. You will find much better work than mine! Thanks again!

How could you make a "review" without ever letting us hear the shutter or see a photo taken with it?
How to change the mode back to manual?
