  • The Dualtron Eagle Pro electric scooter is the latest from MiniMotors and an awesome electric scooter. We go on a ride around San Francisco while giving some impressions on this awesome fast electric scooter. We perform some hill tests against the Dualtron Thunder, and go head-to-head with the Dualtron Raptor 2 at the top of Twin Peaks.

    Great review. Ya one thing I really like about the Speedway V is that stem hinge folding mechanism that's solid as a rock, no slack movement unlike all the Dualtrons that tend to wear with time.

    • @AlienRides

Was looking at the Victor but the deck was a bit smaller (and backordered for at least 2 months in my neck of the woods) and I got huge feet, lol ! Ordered some Nutt hydraulics for about $250 from Aliexpress since the stock mechanical brakes are ok but front brakes squeal like hell - scaring the hell out of pedestrians, lol ! Thanks for another great and informative video! I have been looking at Dualtrons recently. There are not as many good videos on Dualtrons as you would expect that are in English. I have really enjoyed the power the Kaabo Mantis has shown me on my commute to Fremont from San Francisco. Unfortunately it has been getting flats at a rate I just don't want to deal with anymore. I have just over 300 miles and have had to fix 4 flats that have left me stranded. They were all pinch flats and no sealant has worked effectively once the pinch flat happens. I tend to ride at full speed for most of my 16 miles per day on the Mantis and it doesn't take much to get a pinch flat with tubes at those speeds. The Mantis is a solid scooter and I would have experienced the same problem with any pneumatic tire scooter. I don't hold anything against the Mantis. I am in the market again for a hyper scooter and have narrowed it down to either the Dualtron Raptor 2 or Dualtron Compact. I am leaning toward the Compact as I like the foldability of the handlebars, wider solid tires and increased power. I am fine with the weight as it is only a little heavier than my Mantis. I am going to try them out at MinimotorsUSA tomorrow and will likely bring one of them home.

    • @AlienRides
      @AlienRides  Před 4 lety +1

      Awesome! That sucks about the flats, not sure how you're so unlucky. I do like the Eagle Pro a lot, but I'm not sure if it would help your flat story or not. Solid or tubeless could be a good option for you. Good luck with your decision, let me know which one you end up going with!

    • @RCDevotee
      @RCDevotee Před 4 lety +1

      @@AlienRides Will do! I just don't have good tire karma. I may try tubeless as tubed tires just suck. I am definitely staying away from tubed tires as tubeless are just much easier to plug without pulling off the tire. I think once I test ride the Compact tomorrow in San Rafael it will be coming back with me :) Maybe the Speedway 5 as that is tubeless and in my performance window.

      @@AlienRides Just got back from MinimotorsUSA and picked up the Compact after trying everything out and picking Cooper's brain. They also just got in (this morning) the Dualtron Mini and that thing is going to be super popular at $1400USD. I would definitely get that before a Boosted Rev and would give the Zero 8X a good run. @@AlienRides The owner of Last Mile (I think Kevin?) was at Minimotors this morning helping Cooper unload the container load of stuff. Last Mile picked up a few Minis for their store. Cooper mentioned they have one available today for demo. You should do a review of that beast ASAP. There are so few good English reviews of Dualtrons and that Mini is going be very popular. Cooper, Brian and I were looking that thing over quite a bit today. I almost decided to go the Mini route but solid tires pushed me to the Compact :) You need to see that Mini's folding mechanism and boxier look and feel. We all liked it a lot.

    Just got one of these yesterday and the model is slightly different as expected compared to this version. The turbo and eco button are leather buttons now and I believe we get a different remote for our latest model. I love how you can change the throttle settings to get all the speed out of it or turn it into a more 30mph or less scooter for more comforting extra range rides.
    The factory Stem lock is small and I can see why people would prefer a larger one for it to just simply not budge (Especially at higher speeds)
    My widewheel was a very nice starting scooter but just riding the Eagle for only 3-4 miles to get my new gloves, I'm extremely sold. At least I can ride all around my city which is pretty much the whole state to those who live around it.
    2k for this scooter is a very fair price to me for the performance it gives. Just very paranoid about flats since the widewheel has solid tires and my roads here are enough to crack the scooter's rims. Getting the Armor-dilloz sealent for the tires in hopes this scooter will be good for 2+ years

    Great review yet again👍
    I always went for thr biggest and fastest top of line models as love the thrill of the power though on tight tracks & scenic riding, it gets wasted.
    I love my THUNDER but heavy and getting around city and in and out of boot sux.
    I got one of the ALDI scooters and its severely underpowered 25kph max.
    Though only 15kgs so it gets places where the big boys cant... like carrying it u p stairs or rocks at a beach cliff lookout etc
    I ended up getting an Eagle Pro as its still quite light for the amazing power it has & the known quality of ride I am familiar with from DUALTRON.
    The stem should not be that wobbly, mine I got with 500kilometres on odo and 18charge cycles and its really nice and firm with no play...
    With my THUNDER it did loosen slightly over time though when I got it serviced by the AUSTRALAIAN importer, I mentioned it and he tightened it up better than new.
    So from how mich play yours had either clamp was slighty loose or something internal needs a tigten & bit of locktite.
    Im off to give preloved EAGLE PRO a decent test ride. Keep the great reviews coming.

    It ls identical to the Dualtron II lol except for some extra deck lighting. DT2 is still selling in some markets, with the new controller same as the Eagle. I think the Eagle deck length is same as the DT2 LTD, 2.4 inches longer than the standaed DT2 model. The length is nice for riding but makes it 2kg heavier than the standard DT2 MX/EX and also a bit harder to manhandle into a lift, lol (something I do with my new DT2 MX every day, and I wouldn't want any more length or weight for this)
    The eagle also comes with the folding handlebars as standard which is nice i think.
    Everything you mentioned about the Eagle Pro is stuff I've found with my DT2 as well. The split rims and the motors that are separate parts from the rims is a great design feature. Another thing i'd mention is the head/tail deck lights are nice and bright, plenty enough to see at night (altho as usual for escooters too low for motorists to easily see you)

      @@AlienRides its funny I bought my II MX with the optional folding handlebars. I noticed how much the same the Eagle looks in photos... So I started looking at more and more photos of the Eagle and found hey I got an Eagle! Lol apart from obviously the deck graphic and the under-deck lighting, and the eagle being a little longer and heavier with the LTD deck.
      Another thought... With P settings adjusted I think the Eagle would be able to accelerate faster. I have to really brace myself at pretty much any speed below 30mph it pulls so strong, I would NOT be standing as casual as your mate with the raptor and accelerating even faster than that.
      I mean, it could be they have different controllers but I doubt it, mine is a recently built one with the Eye3 throttle/dash.

The split rim design is also nice! It's sad that they're only making a limited amount of Eagle Pro's because it's one of their best all around scooters in my opinion! So anyway, Apollo scooter's told me that they don't want to sell an Apollo version of the Zero 8x because their customers didn't like it that much so they offer a set of solid honeycomb tires for their Apollo pro (Zero 10x) instead. You can also find the 10x2.5 solid tires on AliExpress. I guess tire slime can help prevent flats but I don't know how well it works with tubed pneumatic tires. However it works great with tubeless pneumatic tires I heard. Yes solid tires are less comfortable and have less traction but they take my anxiety away when it comes to flats lolll!

      I really don't have much hands on experience with nanrobot. I've heard that nanrobot has some quality issues in the past, but I would like to try them for myself. I think you get more bang for your buck with nanrobot, but the Eagle Pro is going to be a higher quality scooter.

      Both are awesome scooters, and I think you would enjoy them very much. I do think they are in a bit of a different class though. The 11x is a lot bigger and weighs a lot more than the Eagle Pro. The 11x is also probably going to be a bit of a more smooth ride compared to the Eagle Pro, just because it's so large, but it also might be a bit too large for bike paths. The Dualtron Thunder might be more comparable to the 11x.

      @AlienRides  Před 3 lety

      @@ColinTBlack I can certainly do some range tests, they are just a bit longer on the power scooters. The emove will definitely get you longer range, but that's only because it goes much slower. Going as top speed on the Eagle Pro eats up a lot of power. Based on my previous tests, I can empty the eagle pro in about ~22 miles or so at full speed. But I can also get about ~30-35 on it if I'm riding slowly, so there's a wide range there depending on rider speed and conditions.

      These are great questions, and only really answerable by people who have had the scooter for a long time. From what I know, there is a bit of play in the handlebars, similar to other dualtron models. It can ride in a light drizzle, but you should do some custom waterproofing using silicon or something.Tire changes are easier than something like the Spider from what I hear. Good luck with your decision!

      I have ~300mi on my Eagle so far. The stem does have what I guess you could call a little play, but it has never bothered me, nor do I feel it's detrimental to the ride in any way. I don't really have anything else to compare it to except for my first scoot, a dinky Hiboy Max, so maybe ignorance is bliss? I have only ridden in a light rain/slight showering I got caught in for a short time once. When I got home, one of the axles was squeaking a bit, which I solved with some WD-40 White Lithium. No issues since. I haven't done any other waterproofing since I really try to avoid riding in wet conditions anyway(not a commuter). I've also only had one flat on a ride so far. I had no tire protection and I'm almost positive I was under-inflated(should be between 45-50psi). I have since altered my filling procedure and added tire liners and armor-dilloz tire slime. I used red, but they have a new blue version specifically for scooters now. So far so good, but with only 300mi in about 3 1/2 months of ownership, I'm not a very heavy rider. Also, changing of the tire itself, once you get the procedure down, is really quite easy. I recommend having the right tools though. Something akin to a tire iron and a rubber mallet to remove the support arm is the biggest hurdle. Removing the hex bolts on the rim can take a bit of force due to threadlocker, so you just want to be careful you don't crack a bolt. I didn't have any issues though. Other than minor maintenance on disc brakes(typical and I'm still looking to do a Magura hydraulic upgrade), I absolutely love this scooter. I weigh a good 200lbs and I never feel underpowered with it. You can easily economize for increasing range(I have easily gone at least 30mi without a lot of economizing, nor fully draining the battery), and can hit speeds of 40mph, which is really faster than I'm comfortable going. Even with the new crop of DTs coming out, I still think the Eagle is a great solid mid-tier high-end scooter in its price range.
