HOT AXLE:
The Hot axle is a very serious axle defect. The unnoticed hot axle can cause journal cut and leading to a major derailment.
SYMPTOMS:
Metallic Creech or whistling sound,
Burning smell,
Smoke out of the axle box,
Grease or oil splashing over wheel surface,
Flameout of axle box,
Discoloring of axle box cover
Wheels not rotating

Brake Binding Meaning in Hindi
Airbrake System की सबसे बड़ी समस्याओ में से एक समस्या है ब्रेक बाइंडिंग. Brake Binding को असल में हिंदी में भी ब्रेक बाइंडिंग ही कहते हैं.सबसे पहले तो ये जान लेते हैं की ब्रेक बाइंडिंग कहते किसे हैं? जब ट्रेन का ड्राईवर इंजन के हेल्प से पुरे ट्रेन में ब्रेक लगाता है तो ब्रेक लग जाता है लेकिन जब कुछ देर बाद ट्रेन ड्राईवर इंजन से ट्रेन का ब्रेक रिलीज करता है तो कोच/वैगन के कुछ ब्रेक रिलीज नहीं होते हैं, इसी को ब्रेक बाइंडिंग कहते हैं.ब्रेक बाइंडिंग की समस्या icf and lhb coaches दोनों में ही हो सकती है.
ब्रेक बाइंडिंग किसी भी ट्रेन के लिए चाहे वो पसेंजर ट्रेन हो या माल गाडी हो बहुत हानिकारक होता है.ब्रेक बाइंडिंग से ट्रेन को बहुत नुक्सान पहुचता है और अगर ब्रेक बाइंडिंग को सही समय पर नहीं देखा गया और उसको ठीक नहीं किया गया तो ट्रेन का चक्का ख़राब हो जाता है और साथ में रेल लाइन भी छतीग्रस्त हो जाती है.ब्रेक बाइंडिंग के कारण आग लगने की भी संभावना होती है इसलिए ब्रेक बाइंडिंग को बहुत ख़राब और खतरनाक माना जाता है.
Brake Binding in Coaching stock:
Whenever brake block grips the wheel with excessive
braking force, it is termed as brake binding. It is the
burning problem of the day in all types of rolling stock.
Repercussions of brake binding in operation are as
under:-
1. Detention to trains causing loss of punctuality of
trains.
2. Flat places on tyre of wheel leading to bearing
failure, weld failure/rail fracture etc.
3. As a preventive measure, detachment of coach/
wagon en-route causing inconvenience to the
passengers during their journey.
4. Ineffective percentage of coaching stock increases
and thus, maintenance cost is also increasing.
5. More Tractive force needed by locomotive to haul
even light load train.
2.0 Brake Binding
The brake binding occurs in all types of rolling stocks
irrespective of air brake or disc brake. During release
even after restoration of brake pipe pressure to 5.0
Kg/Cm2
, the brakes do not release due to various
reasons and thus wheels not move freely on the track.
This phenomenon is called brake binding.
It damages the bearings
It gives discomfort to the passengers
It leads to detention to the trains
It leads to detachment of rolling stock enroute
It leads to train parting
It leads to High power / fuel consumption
It also damages the track.
