Welcome to today's video where you saw the renovation of the old Banker's Lamp.
Table lamps are a must in any household.
It is a practical helper that looks good and saves our eyes.
And who invented the practical assistant?
The Banker's Lamp was an American invention, originally designed for use in banking halls.
The first patent for a lamp was filed on May 11, 1909 by the American engineer Harrison D. McFaddin.
The original design of the lamp was very simple.
The lamp had a brass base that held a shade of green over white glass.
This original glass shade was custom made at the Shreiber & Neffen factory in Rapotín, Moravia, today's Czech Republic.
The lamps were made in America and assembled at the McFaddin factory in New York and originally sold under the Emeralite brand.
The size of the lamp was such that it provided enough light while leaving enough space on the table.
The lampshade was made so that it could be tilted up and down to direct the light.
In 1929, a patent was filed for a British version of the Banker's Lamp that had a brass shade or reflector instead of a glass shade.
HG Mc-Faddin & Co. was sold in 1960.
The original lamps from before the Second World War are still a sought-after antique piece.
And that's it for today, thanks for watching.

A suggestion on the light switch; Usually those come with an additional locking nut that you install between the metal plate and the switch-body. This allows the switch to set lower in the lamp so you do not have exposed threads on the top. It also provides a means for you to tighten down the upper locking nut without compressing the switch body.
Agreed. Only the knurled nut should be on the top of the base plate, the hex nut should be hidden underneath.
Another beautiful restoration, thanks for sharing this insightful video. Great use of red wire to pull new wires through the lamp head. Additionally, awed by your use of clear heat shrink tubing at potential friction points.
You two kids are amazing craftsmen. Wishing you and your family a blessed week filled with gentle seasonally appropriate weather and restful evenings. Peace
Cute restoration. In addition, a shakeproof washer has been put between metal-plate and hex nut.
25 or so years doing lamp repairs for a living. I agree about the switch install: the hex nut goes under the opening. By turning it up or down, you can minimize the amount of threaded piece showing, making a more presentable appearance. I'm a great fan of heat-shrink tubing, but I usually used a heat gun for greater control, although I certainly used a mini propane torch on occasion. Using the old wire to pull a fresh piece as you demonstrate is the best way -- ease it through gently. I often used a length of beaded chain (pull chain) as a fish tape. All in all, a very nice job! I seriously envy your powder-coat capabilities!
Thank you very much for the compliment Paul. From an expert, it's twice the pleasure :)
Another fantastic restoration. At the beginning I thought that since this was just a humble desk lamp there couldn’t be much history. Once again you amazed me with the amount of history you uncovered for this all too common item that we have all just taken for granted.
Very nice desk lamp. The history was very interesting. While listening I wondered if the research took more time then the actual restoration.
We are a team. Me renovation, woman history 😉
Thank you so much Fred :)
Beautiful restoration. And thank you for the history of it.
Thank you so much :)
Many thx for new movie. I love watch when You put new live in old stuff !!
Thank you so much Michal :)
A great save on the lamp. Also a great history commentary, we usually don't hear that. Thank you. Narragansett Bay
Thank you :)
Beautiful authentic looking restoration. it all came out looking factory new.
The braided cable with bakelite plug was a beautiful finishing touch.
Thank you so much Sven :)
Hello Radek and Veronica beautiful restoration beautifully restored well done
We are delighted Vince, thank you both :)
I can only imagine the patience you must have to restore the lamp. The results, magnificent!
Thank you very much Dan, these beautiful artifacts of our past deserve the care and patience :) Have a nice day from the Czech Republic :) Radek
Amazing 👏. Very beautiful restoration. Much better than original. Thanks for a wonderful video.
Thank you very much for praising the result of our work Steve :)
Wonderful specimen! I also remember how the offices in old Banks had similar lamps with green glass domes as plastic was not a popular material at the beginning of the 20th century )
Yes, these are the ones that they spoke about at the end of Veronica :) They had to be beautiful with a glass shadow :)

This waa a beautiful find and when I saw the beginning I thought it was too far gone, but as always your amazing skills saved the lamp and even turn it into new again. I realley enjoyed watching Radek, thank you very much. 👍👍👍
Thank you very much for beautiful words :)
Nice restoration, i remember seeing some lamps of this style back when I was a wee lad.
👉👍😉 Thanks Larry :)
Nice work! Love seeing old items made better then new.
Thank you Pit :)
Very very good work well done, more more please, reminds me of the time my daughter worked with, xxxooo
Excellent work! The only thing I would have done differently would be to pit a washer between the spring and the shade, to avoid the spring damaging the shade.
Thank you Victor :)
Veľmi pekná práca. Klobúk dole pred vašou sikovnosťou👍👍👍👍👍👍.A ten retro kábel, to je klasická čerešňa na torte!!!!
Děkuji mnohokrát :)
What a beautiful lamp! I am interested to know more about how you removed the dents by using rollers on the lathe. Also I would love to see more about restoring the threaded brass rod holding the light bulb housing! Totally awesome job.
Thank you, next time I get better ... :)
@@VeradonaRestoration no need to get “better”. you both are so awesome and skillful. I always really enjoy your content and partnership!
Great restoration. I don't envy you pulling those wires. I really do like how the light socket is made. The normal ones in the US are not so fancy or sturdy looking. Thanks and have a great week.
Yes, Harry, it was a birth - pulling out wires, especially the old ones that someone had already left there... Have a nice day :)
Brilliant, thank you. And thank you for the background.
Thank you so much :)
This restoration really brightened up my day. Thank yo for sharing.
Wow, so I'm glad, thank you :)

Děkuji sousede za krásný komentář :)
Thanks again for a wonderful restoration of this common but interesting simple bankers lamp. It was good to learn that the Americans actually made something unique and not copied from their European background. Thanks again for sharing this video. Your Texas friend Paul.
Thanks for watching Paul :) Hugs from the Czech Republic :)

Excellent work friends, look's great have a nice day all !!!. 😀👍🙏
Thank you so much my friend :)
Excellent restoration 👍👍👍Thank you for sharing. . Take care of yourselves, be safe, and healthy 🇨🇦
Thank you so much :)

Beautiful work…….cool lamp.🛠️🔩⚙️🗜️🔨🔧⛏️👍
Thank you so much :)
DIVINAAA!!! FELICITACIONES!! 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷❤️🤗
Gracias Mariana :)
Excellent restoration with your usual careful attention to detail. This lamp looks very elegant. I like the fact that you even restored the porcelain and brass socket. It would be easy for a restorer to simply throw the old socket away, but you went to the effort to rebuild it. Smiles and thanks from the USA.
Thank you for your favor and following our friend :)
I have such a lamp on my desk. It gets used daily. :)
Great, I'm happy, thank you :)
I love your work. I was happy to know that you subtitled the video to Portuguese.
I'm glad, thank you :)
Good restore❤
Thank you :)
