Having so many windows in our house, bird accidents were bound to happen. Our living room window has always been a hot magnet for birds. It's been a while that I said we must do something about it. I've looked thru several options like having fake birds or owls or lights perched in front of the window but we could never come to a conclusion how we are going to mount the fake birds or lights up there as the living room window is on the 1st floor. Doing anything up here is dangerous as there is only a small platform for one to step on.
Eventually, I decided to create a rope with leaves, strung across the window. It should be higher but husband is worried he may fall if he brings up the ladder on the small ledge to climb on it so that he can drill the hooks higher up the wall.
So far, even with this simple DIY leafy rope, it has reduced the incidences of birds flying into our window. Happiest moment is when I see birds resting on the rope! They provide entertainment for the cats too.
