Take the pieces off and make molds. Get them manufactured and sell them. These should be options for all bronco 2s
It was, just nobody ever ordered them that way because it cost extra, unlike people buying new cars today thinking they need every option under the sun in their new car, people back in the day bought what they needed, not a bunch of gimmicks and add on nonsense. The other issue is those things start leaking after being installed and removed a few times as did the sunroofs in them, so many wise people skipped all those things luckily.
3D printers have come a long way if someone wanted to get ambitious and make the brackets from scratch. The worst part will be how to attach the brackets to the glass since I think ford used holes rather than gluing. And you can't drill tempered glass so having these panels made to custom order will be tricky.
I have two 84 Bronco II's and i knew that these were an option. I've just never seen one in person. It's a really cool design imo. I'd love to have the brackets and such to install them on my truck.
It would be cool. I wish they all had them.
Wow those windows are awesome! I had no idea.
Wow I thought that feature was a myth. That's awesome, man.
Thanks!!!
So did I, I’ve only seen them in the old magazines. Pretty rare thing to see !
Absolute unit. Dream car. Might get my hands on a bronco ii to restore as my toy along side my ranger to get me to and fro school and work but those windows are absolutely amazing. Wish I could find one with that option around me
Well I'll be dipped! I worked for a Ford dealer during the 80's and 90's and worked on dozens and dozens of Bronco IIs. I've never see this option, I didn't even know it existed. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks!! It’s 1 of 20 made and the only known survivor to date.
I have a bronco 2 and would appreciate if you could tell me some things to keep in mind for all the stock components
My dad said they cut production bc of safety concerns, I saw something else that said the pop out windows became too dangerous in minor accidents as they came loose too easy and you can kinda see how from this video- it would be an awesome feature to have though! That means this one is ultra rare.
I know all the cool things in life are dangerous!!! Haha!! Thanks for comment!! I thankfully to have something so rare!!
I’d heard about the removable side window option but never seen one. I believe it’s very rare! Only offered on the first model year, 1984.
Yes, 1 of 20 made but I’m not sure how many survived.
Thanks, sir. Cool.
Do all B2 passenger seats fold up like that??
I'm taking inspiration from that paint job bro, turning mine into a trail truck, keep up the good work!
Honestly I’m wish it didn’t have the camo but I’m glad it’s helping you!!!
They do exist!
All of them should of been made like this!
Right!!
wow that's the first one I've seen with that removable window option other than on an 80's Motor Trend video
As soon as I saw I knew I had to have it!!
I wish mine had that. I'm contemplating chopping the roof off and having a custom top made that can be removed. but the bubble windows on mine are in good shape still.
I had the same idea before I found this Bronco. I still would consider doing it even now. Chop top Bronco II’s are cool if done cleanly.
@@GillansGarage I was going to massage in ranger bed rails and a tail gate and try to figure out some kind of cap for the roof line. I might still do it once I get that to that point.
That’s pretty much the same plan I have. The windshield edge is the stumbling block for me, I’m not sure how to finish that and make it look “factory”.
Nice job. Sweet old ride and window. You look very comfy in the back sea😀
Thanks!!!!
Very cool. Probably worth 4x if you had Maaco paint it the original color.
Thanks!! It deserves more than a Maaco paint job. Haha. I plan on a full restoration in the future.
You should be stoked! Freaking awesome. Like the other comment says, myth? What? I have heard of, but never seen that option. I am stoked just seeing it!
Thanks!!! Honestly sometimes I catch myself just looking at it amazed that it’s mine!!!
Wish my Bronco 2 had the passenger seat like yours, mine you have to flip the seatback forward then slide the seat forward, its a pain in the ass...luckily I don't have any use for the back seat it just stays folded down all the time.
Yeah, my 1989 Bronco II has the style you have.
Yoooooooo that’s so cool I’ve been looking at some to eventually buy as my first vehicle but never new they had the window feature. You genuinely seem like an awesome dude and hope you enjoy this well deserved like and a new subscriber.
Thank you very much for the kind words!! Good luck with the vehicle search!! I got a Bronco II for my first vehicle. Clearly I loved it, I have two now. They’re a great buggy but they’ll teach you their limitations quite quickly so you’ll want to be careful. This particular Bronco II was a Test Vehicle that originally was never offered to the public. Thanks again for the comment!!
Unicorn. Yep. Never seen a Bronco 2 with windows like that. Break one of those windows.........that'll be an expensive fix unless a regular stock window can be modified. Nice find. I have a 1989 Bronco 2 2.9L project on the back burner. Stored in my pole barn. Some years ago I parted out a 1994 Explorer. Swapped running gear into Bronco 2. 4.0 engine needs rebuilt. Some day.....😂😂😂
Expensive is right!! Frankly they maybe non-existent!! I’m always very careful. A regular window is tempered so that can’t be drilled.
I also have a 1990 Bronco II project that I need to work on as well!! Thinking about swapping in the diesel out of the diesel Ranger I have. I just need more time!!! Haha!!
Dam one has been found more rare then the plus that is amazing
Thanks!!
I’m so jealous that you have removable side windows. I wish mine had those.
Thanks!! I’m super stoked to have the opportunity to own it myself!!
The pop out windows are a very cool feature. I have a 1982 Subaru Brat with the pop up T-tops (Fun Top as Subaru calls it).
You got love the Brats!!! The rear jump seats are cool and so safe too!!!! Haha
Where can I buy those pieces?
This guy's the only person that has a use for the instructions in the owner's manual. LOL
Hahaha!!! Thanks!! Best Comment Yet!!
Very cool I’ve heard of these but I’ve not seen one thank you for this
Thanks!!!
Is all that a factory option? Never seen an before..my 89 and 86 are solid fixed windows
Ford Factory Test Vehicle. Only 20 produced and at this time the only known survivor.
Ranger station?
Have always liked the Rangers and Bronc IIs that yr. 4X4...
💎 s
You have things in your bronco that I have been looking for years for my bronco2. So jealous!!!
Thanks!!!!!
Do all the bronco 2s do this? I’m looking at buying one from my wife’s grandfather
No, this particular Bronco II is 1 of 20 built and built as a Ford Engineering Test Vehicle that was most likely to be destroyed after the testing was complete.
It wouldn’t surprise me if you could use some mineral spirits or lacquer thinner to remove that rattle can paint job.
I have been wondering if that would work too. I know the paint isn’t perfect under the camo but I’m with you; it’s worth a shot!!!
I'm pretty sure this Bronco came from Tn, not far from where I live, not sure how that one ever snuck out of the Ford testing grounds, wish all the BII's had that option. Whatever you do dont break that glass
You’re right, that’s where I got it from. I’d love to learn more of it’s history if possible. I’m not sure either but I’m stoked it survived and honored to have it!!! It scares me to death to touch them so I don’t handle much at all!! Thanks for the comment!!!
I got a 1989 Ford Bronco II standard. Sadly I am about to start living in the city and I need something a little newer. It has a little over 80k miles to this day but it hurt when I had to post it.
I hope whoever buys it takes care of it like I did.
Oh my!!! Where? Can you email me the listing? My nephew has caught the Bronco II bug too. My email is in the channel info tab
@@GillansGarage I don’t see your email? I’m happy to share the listing.
Jjgillan82@gmail.com
I have an 87' BII with a pop out sun roof that I really think is factory, but not sure. Most just pop up, but it has a mechanism much like your pull pins to release the glass. Pretty cool find. get
You could get a Marti report to see what it came with as far as options from the factory.
This has "nixed for liability reasons" written all over it. In the end it was AMC/Jeep that had the better idea - give the rear passengers their own doors with wind-down windows - but this sure would've been cool if it were more widely offered.
You sir, have found a rare one indeed! I thought I would never seen one of those ever.
Thank you!!! 1 of 20 made and the only known survivor at this point.
@@GillansGarage Damn thats cool! I have some info on my 84; it is 94,???th one made, has all but 1 option (according to an 1984 dealer brochure). I'm going to get a marti report on my next paycheck thankyou for introducing that company to me.
@@p51mustang52 Glad to help!! Marti Auto Works is a great company that offers a awesome service to us Ford guys!!!
@@GillansGarage Im going to send my father a link to them so he can look up his 71 Bronco. Now all I need to see is one with the diesel motor.
You and I both!! I did get my hands on a diesel(video on that too). I’m hoping to swap it into a Bronco II.
Nice bronco2...I just started building mine...dident have enough power so currently finishing up dropping a 440 mopar in it...550hp should make it a bit more fun
Thanks!! 440 Mopar!! That’s one you don’t see in a Bronco II much! Have fun!!!
No it’s true
I’m Eddie Bauer wish I had this
Coolest window ever
Thanks!!!!
That is awesome! I’m restoring my Bronco ii finally.
I’d love to find an option like this! Just liked and sub’d !!
Thanks!!! Best of luck with your restoration!! I won’t be starting the restoration on this one for a little while yet. Thanks for the sub!!!
@@GillansGarage thanks! I guess when I say “restoration” I mean get it running to get it out with the family 😆
@@sharkerio Hey that definitely counts and having fun with the family is where it’s really at.
@@GillansGarage looking forward to it, cheers!
Gillan's where can i buy that window, my brronco doesn't have it
If only you could!!! I’d have it for all my Bronco II’s. This is one of 20 test vehicles Ford made.
Never knew
I love the windows! Where can I get some of those?
Thanks!! That’s a great question.
I've got an 86 bronco 2 and it still have factory everything, the only new stuff on it are brake lines, tires, and brake bads.
But I wish I had those awesome windows
Awesome!!! Stay tuned for the next video. I’ll show you my ‘89 Bronco II. It’s got 23k miles on it.
@@GillansGarage thats awesome! Mines got 130k, but still runs like factory lol
Rare, now if it only had the optional Diesel engine as well. Hold on to that gem and treat her almost as good as you treat your wife!!
I’m picking up a diesel ranger soon but I’ll find another Bronco to swap that diesel into. Does the diesel Bronco II even exist??? Don’t worry she will get a full restoration at some point.
2 cool wish mine had those
Leaking may have been an issue that’s probably why?
That could be but I’m guessing it was the liability that killed it.
Does the rear window on the rear gate open?
Yes, the rear hatch window opens as well.
@@GillansGarage LUCKY
That's a rare feature buddy I drive a 1988 everyday.cant beat them.gave 200 for it 10 years ago and still driving it.id nix that ugly camo paint job they look good 2 tone original
Thanks!!! That’s the plan, get it back to original.
Not sure if I should try and convert my bronco to be like that or just chop the roof
I’ve always wanted a chop top Bronco II. Go for it!!!
How you do that paint job? That’s amazing!
Haha!! I can’t take the credit for it!! That was someone before me. Thanks though!!!
Thanks for sharing!
Glad to share it!!! I’ll have it at the Ford Nationals in Carlisle PA in June if you want to check it out in person.
RARE!
How do you go about changing spark plugs and distributor cap?
Well I haven’t done any maintenance on this Bronco yet but I’m guessing you should be able to find a couple here on CZcams that should help you with the work you’re looking to do. Best of luck.
hi, just wondering what you did for brake line extensions on the front? thanks!
Honestly I bought the Bronco with the lift so I’m not sure what the installer used. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful.
Why does mine not have this😭😭
Curious if you can find the ford part number or NSN on the hinges and latches.
Maybe when I take it apart to repaint it.
@@GillansGarage I appreciate it. I’m going to run them through a database used by the DOD and see if I can locate any more. I plan on doing a custom modification using Lexan then eventually get some custom tempered glass.
Wher can i found that things for the windows I really liked
Hard to say, considering this was a “test vehicle” I don’t think there many out there or parts laying around.
@@GillansGarage thank you :(
Looks like camo throwup
Yeah, it’s a crying shame someone did it!!! But with time all will be right again.
Did they offer a rear window that opened? Mine is fixed and I would like it to open.
No, this is a Ford engineering test vehicle. Ford only made 20 of these vehicles but many would have been destroyed. At this point it is unknown how many survived. I wish they all opened too, the hinges could be reproduced but the glass is drilled for the hardware before it is tempered and I doubt Carlite will make any more of those.
I was afraid of that. I'll just keep driving with the lift gate open and tying the spare closed with a bungee. Enjoyed the vid. I bought mine new in 89. Best driving vehicle I ever owned.
@@bongomakers You could get a liftgate with the opening rear window and at least you could run with the hatch down. My first vehicle was a 1989 Bronco II bought in 1998 with 74k miles. I drove the wheels off it before it rusted out. No winter driving for this Bronco or my low mileage ‘89.
This is after market right?
No, this is a Ford test vehicle. One of 20 made by Ford however I’m not sure how many made to the public.
@@GillansGarage dang that sucks. I wonder if I could convert one
Sucks!!! Hahaha. I’m pretty stoked to have one of the rarest Bronco II’s ever made!! But I get what your saying, it would be cool if more Bronco II’s could have it option!! Thanks for commenting!!!
I'm with ya on the insta, twrtr, facedanot. Lol
Thank you!! I really appreciate your support. I feel like a slacker lately!! Haha. I’ve working behind the scenes on the shop. More content to come soon!!
Is that a stock feature.
It was a pre-production option that was installed on this Bronco II as a Test Vehicle for Ford Motor Company.
Absolutely love it. I’m assuming the back tailgate window is the standard flip up & not latchable like the sides.
Have you talked with Jeffs Bronco Graveyard or James Duff Broncos to see if they’ve ever seen one?
Thanks!!! Yes, it’s just the standard tailgate window.
Yep, if it had the optional flip open glass, it just flipped open, it didn't come off, at least not as an option, you could unbolt the hinges of course and remove it permanently but wasn't made to be removable.
Tou know how to get rid of the pecking those 2.9s make my bronco 2 pecks like crazy and sometimes it will do it and sometimes very rarely it wont
Check your valve lash on the rocker arms or it could be worn cam bearings.
Yeah I've been told it could be rocker arms or a lifter imma tear it down soon and fix it all
Its a valve train issue, quite common on the 2.8L, 2.9L, and 4.0L engines. Using the right oil, changing the oil at the proper interval, and keeping the valve train adjusted helps a lot. They'll usually clatter for a bit on cold start up but quickly goes away if the engine is properly maintained, if it doesn't then a lot of times you'll find that oil passages are plugged up with sludge from lack of maintenance.
Just adjusted valve lash on my '90 for the first time last weekend. Two were way loose, now no more ticking.
@@ceesklumper Good to hear!!
What year is this one?
It’s a 1984.
Go mid evil and use air jet stripper on it
Won't that damage the original paint underneath?
@@GillansGarage .... that’ll take down to the metal
That’ll come with time!! I’m not ready for the restoration yet. I’d like to gather more restoration parts first.
@@GillansGarage ... well I hope everything works well for you when you get to that point. I hope you have a wonderful week.
@@garrimic3 Thank you sir!!! You too!!!
