"$100... We check the ebay prices", well to state the obvious, a flea market isn't Ebay. There's no protection for the buyer (good luck getting a refund), and seller wouldn't be getting $100, after ebay & PayPal get their cuts and delivery cost (which includes your time taking to post office etc), that $100 will be a distant memory. Or you could just sell it at a flea market prices in as-is condition, and stop wasting the time of everyone who gets up at the ass crack of dawn.
Not to mention the asshats on eBay that purposely overprice their games, making everyone think that their old system with common games that sat in their parent's attic for decades is worth hundreds
Yeah 100 USD for all that isn't worth it, especially at a flea market. In Canada I got a de-locked out, completely re-built, cleaned and boiled pin connector nes at a games swap for 50 CAD (roughly 35-37 USD). The thing works like a dream! Good luck on that 100 USD Bundle for someones old NES.
DaveSimonH yea I really hate the 'ebay' prices mentally. They'll never get the ebay list price in their pocket after fees and postage (plus time) .
That lady who said "I check eBay before I sell my games," made me cringe so hard.
Unfortunately, this is true since most indie game shops treat eBay as the Kelly Blue Book of classic Video Games.
what else are they gonna do though? if you don't research you'll end up like the lady who sold Pat pokemon silver for 5 bucks or the one who sold Contra Hard corps for $3 CIB on game chasers....
gamerguy425 this is why as shitty as it is we are at this point, I don't blame them at all. like you said what are you supposed to do. the one thing I feel like you should try to do if you go off eBay is price considerably lower if possibly, not just 2 dollars off. Otherwise do you. I'm not gonna tell you to rip yourself off, and at the end of the day it's as simple as me going "eh, thst might be a bit much." and walking away to end it and not buy your ridiculous priced game.
What they're supposed to do is not be an asshole. eBay SOLD auctions (how many people look at unsold listings as going market value? UGH) will give them a good idea on market value. Then they should cut that price by a decent amount because they're getting instant sales, no boxing or shipping, and less fees PLUS I drove out here to buy it. Something like 10-20%.. No one is demanding they sell diamonds for a nickel
I mean the problem there as Ian mentioned in the CU podcast is if they try to cut people a deal that's just bait for the resellers to swipe it up before the market even opens and sell it in the same market overpriced, it's like all it takes is one asshole to poison the well so everyone else has to be stingy if they don't want to get ripped off...
although some people are just as greedy as the scalpers even if they're selling their own items rather than reselling.
Pat knew we were gonna wreck that eBay price lady, that's why she left her in the video
StevenGaspard maybe the PSP girl not the nes girl.
People need to stop saying "I looked it up on ebay" Then pay the fees and sell it there. I hate hearing that at the flea market.
Right? So that's the ebay price aye? So that's the price that i would pay if i wanted to just buy it on ebay instead of rolling my ass out of bed and driving to a swap meet? I'll be sure to pay the ebay price next time I BUY ONE ON EBAY.
they do have to store & transport it while paying the flea market fee. If I am at the flea market with the game in my hand, what incentive do I have to buy it online?
A ton of incentive if you're not an idiot. Most of these flea market eBay people are quoting the upper end of the spectrum, maybe even auctions listed that don't even fucking sell. Mainly because eBay is filled w/ greedy morons nowadays. If I wanted to pay eBay prices, I'd stay home in my underwear, sleep til noon and scratch my balls while eating Fruity Pebbles.
you really enhanced the discussion with that brilliant and thought provoking comment.
Jack Shea even though on ebay they make up prices for the items
"I go on eBay before I price my stuff". Then sell it on eBay pay fees and shipping and the chance of return and you having to pay return shipping.
The flea markets have become such a horrid place for video games. I remember I'd go and leave with bags FULL of games, now most times I leave without buying anything or possibly something else.
"holy fuck it's Flea Market Madness" every time i see it in my sub box.
I wish Pat still did this. It was my favorite thing to watch
I cry all the time, I used to have 3 copies of EVO search for eden. My dad bought me one brand new, then our local video store was going out of business so we bought their copy. Then he found a random copy at a garage sale for $3. I literally had $600 worth of SNES games, and Im sure I sold them for pennies on the dollar to what theyre worth now
"Am I your parents gardener?" FRANK 2016
"I check eBay before I price it" UGH!! That happened to me onetime, it was so awkward, them pulling out their phone and going on eBay verifying the price as I stood there like 😐
Video Game Wizards did that to me at PRGE this year, after he priced checked everything, I asked if that covered buyers insurance for 30-days and tracked shipping to my house. He looked at me perplexed. I laughed and said ,then stop trying to ask for that price if you are not going to provide a similar value and left. I can't believe that a store would show up to a con and not have prices on their merch.
Can do one better on that one with Video Game Wizards at PRGE. Found a copy of the Guy Game for xbox that was dug into a box that had a $20 price tag on it. Took it up to buy it, and they told me they can't honor the price; and had to price check. They came back with $50, which I just promptly told them to keep it. Left a sour taste in my mouth for that shop.
VoggNogg - OMG lol that game was in my stack as well, was loose in bin with no price sticker on it... Im just going to avoid them next year, or walk away from their booth avoiding the register altogether.
Their booth is not worth it, barely any organization at all; and not having a separate entrance or exit just creates further chaos. Better chance of hunting for deals elsewhere at the expo.
VoggNogg absolutely, I found many good deals, some just outside their booth. overall I had a great time.
Really like this series! In the 90's there was a public access show in the L.A. area where two brothers went to swapmeets hunting records, video games and books, Pat's guerilla style reminds me of them! Excellent work, Pat!
'my parents gardener?' was harsh
Listen to the line again. That's not what he said. "Am I your parents gardener?" Completely different unless you are trolling on purpose.
Please don't stop flea market madness. I love these adventures and I gain knowledge by watching this while collecting for my games. Hope I strike gold this summer
Too bad this series isn't continued. This is the best way I've seen flea market hunting videos edited.
No more deals.
Pat, I started off on cinnemaasacre and I found myself on your channel and really enjoying it. My favorite are these flea market madness, keep doing them and finding retro stuff! 90s and prior games, toys, memorabilia, just keep the videos coming man!
go sell it on eBay then why rent a booth.
I'd tell em I would give them their asking price minus 15% which ebay and paypal would take from them anyway.
so they can rip em off for physical cash I guess...
Ahh the old "I check eBay prices" routine
I was at the Englishtown flea market last weekend and I was surprised at all the Lego vendors. Crazy this stuff is the new hit thing. NJ MISSES YOU PAT!!!! Run for governor and save us from Chris Christie!!!!
About time for a new episode
Hell yea! I thought this was more or less discontinued. So glad to see a new one!
thanks for cheering me up pat! today i woke up and i had blood all over me and i was in quite a bad state, then i calmed down and saw a new market madness video, and when that wonder boy song came on that made me smile :) thank you
The Wonder Boy music at the end will be forever etched in my memory.
Hell yes....After a long day of work busting my ass. Sweet to come home and see there's a new episode of Flea Market Madness up. Rock on!!!!
Nice pickup you got Pat with Silent Hill 3 :)
Such a great game.
ahh the Wonder Boy theme used at the end of this video just reminded me of playing the master system at my grandparents house in the 90s, thanks for the nostalgia trip Pat
I wish I was in America at a flea market with a gran . That's my ultimate destination in life!
Yeah! A flea market madness! A video I'll always definitely watch!
yes, bring flea market madness back pat, these are your best videos.
I like how you've started adding the picture references Pat. Great channel.
Ah, no wonder the gap between #30 and #31 was so large. My flea market's become the same way, it's a crying shame.
"Wizard of the Upper Amazon?"
Holy shit, that's the story of my great grandfather!
When the sweet intro music kicks in... vibez! Love these vids
Flea market madness back finally man I love these
I wish I had flea markets like this why I live, the only games they seem to sell at mine are 5 copies of the same PS2 game at each stall.
THX 1138 is actually one of the best films I've ever seen. I was very surprised Lucas made it. I definitely suggest it.
Love these vids! Just like the old ones! Hilarious! Nice to see Frank , and you, getting so much recognition! Keep it up, please
"Sounds like you're at home. I don't hear any ambient sound"
How can Frank always be such a legend, and so effortlessly?
lol Love that you're still doing these.
Man thats a great movie, the original Taking of Pelham 123 is a fuckin classic. Nice find.
I had to watch a rooster teeth ad to get to my flea market madness. Only for you Pat.
Yay!! So glad to have a new episode!
Thank you for another great episode! Love the content, bud.
@4:42: I'm impressed that Frank managed to get those films. I know some-one else who would be...!
Yes your back pat! I love this series!!!!
You can totally see the renewed energy in Pat's videos now that his book is finally done. The blue action figure is Battlestar Galactica Commander Adama I believe. Is there a manufacturing stamp/date on the other two? I can let you know by that. You got to hit those Jewzey fleas next time your on the East Coast, there's gaming gold in these thar' hills!
I guess I should be counting my lucky stars that I found a flea market in my area that makes me feel as if I've gone back 10 years in past for retro games and just things in general. Part of it must be because it is a heavy rural area. However, it took me forever to find a place like that since it was so unknown. I'm sad that the bigger flea markets have become physical ebay stores. When I heard 100 on that NES set I almost cringed at the price.
Frank seems like he's a really nice guy :)
This the 1st time I've watched this series. I like. Keep watching it with everything else.
Pat, I believe those 3 action figures were (from left to right)- Ardella (Buck Rogers in the 25th Century), Durant (The Black Hole), and Commander Adama missing cape (Battlestar Galactica). I had all 3 series growing up in the 70's/80's.
Correction: the first one is Draco without his gold robe (Buck Rogers in the 25th Century), not Ardella.
if she wants to sell her shit for the prices they go for on ebay, why doesn't she just sell them on ebay?
Lapras-GD never sold anything on ebay before?
the buyer pays for the shipping, not the seller. material is free. USPS has the boxes in the entryway of the post office for you to just grab and leave with. they even give you free packing tape.
ebay and paypal fees are actually the same fee. and its pennies on a dollar.
I love when they haven't priced it yet and then look it up as soon as you ask. That's when I walk away. Yeah let me pay an ebay price from you instead of ebay where I have a guarantee and can get refunded if it's not working.
abstractheory1 ebay fees are 9% of what your item sold for, and cannot exceed $50. the time and gas spent going to a flee market and opening a stall is more expensive than the fee. ebay is incredibly easy to use, i don't know why your primitive mind is so intimidated by it. people do not go to flea markets to buy things for the same price as they could have gotten on ebay from the comfort of their own home, and literally no one pays ebay prices for games sold at flea markets, so you're wasting your fucking time.
+abstractheory1 people don't go to flea markets to pay eBay prices; they go looking for good deals. Otherwise then they could just stay at home and shop online. If the seller wants eBay prices then sell your shit on fucking eBay. Also learn to spell before you call someone a moron "kid".
abstractheory1 Aww you're cute, calling people kids when you probably the youngest person here and still living with your parents. You want to know what's real life, not giving a shit whether someone's trying to get the most for an item that they'll selling, because fuck them. If we can't get it from you for what we want it, we'll just go somewhere else clown.
Its time to take Flea Market Madness on the road @Pat the NES Punk. That way people don't know you, and you don't know the people.
Always glad to see a new FMM!
will finish watching tomorrow, it's cool you still find some joy in it, I get bored sometimes.
2:15 OMG CHOPPER STRIKE!!!! i've been trying to figure out the name of that game for years! it was one of my absolute favorite board games as a kid. thanks, pat!
Some day I would love to see the Flea Market Madness song be sung in the Completely Unnecessary Let's Play jingle style....
Been awhile, I still love my fleamarket madness!
4:13 - right before this is American McGee Alice, something I'd hoped to never see again... Weird I never noticed back when I first watched this video.
yes!!!! keep em comin by far my fav and the reason i subscribe.. like the senseless gaming too
distilled version of Pawn Stars and Auction Wars covering the things I like. Wish this was on TV...
Finally a new episode! You made my day Pat 👍
At least you have outdoor Flea Markets to go to. If I visit Diego, I am so hitting the flea market.
please never stop making these videos
I'd love to witness Frank and James Rolfe have a conversation about old school movies
We need more of this asap
My dad and I used to play Axis and Allies when I was a little kid. He has his from the 80's. Such a fun board game. The Pc game is also fun.
Missed flea market madness so much!
I always love these guys. Makes me want to find some sales in my area lol
Haha he passes on Fun N Games for $5. I guess he didn't know its value, where he doesn't like SNES.
Yup caught slippin.. $50 game
Or he could already have a copy or 2, and wanted someone else to get the deal because he did not need it.
Not just a $50 game,, but really hard to find in the wild. Bummer.
No way he'd pass up on a game he could flip so easily.
Honestly, you can't know everything about everything. Pat doesn't seem to care much for SNES, so it's not surprising he could miss something like that
Flipping a flea market find is why there arent that many good finds at the flea market anymore.
Love the Wonderboy music at the end(C64)
video game hunting has become a thing of the past.
Not at all, in fact its more of a thing of the present now than ever. Hence why its hard to find deals.
Tactics just needs to be adjusted for todays interest. Try used book stores, I find that the ones in my area (Near Seattle) don't seem to be as clued in as even the thrift stores.
Also nothing beats building a relationship with people. I've been hunting for about 5 years now, great hobby to supplement vacations with.
You can't find deals, not because they don't exist, but because they get shown to you. Why would anyone offer less than what the average person is willing to pay? If they don't know you, they have no reason.
Network with ppl, any game you could reasonably want is a double is someone collection who isnt greedy.
Cody Love resellers are the devil
'Resellers' are an obstacle to be overcome....
Wolfi resellers and eBay everyone looks on eBay and think they have gold.
when one collection obsession dies, move onto another one.
but then that obsession dies and I want to return to gaming only to be only even more dissatisfied. Hopefully games are just like comics in the 90's at the moment...
No pat no end I love these episodes!
I remember the flea market days where I found a snes, sega genesis, sega CD, and n64 with cords, controllers, and a couple decent games for each for $65. Now that same seller at the same flea market barely has a few busted up bad nes games. It breaks my heart that this and retro game hunting in general has died out
It hasn't died out, its dried up, many more ppl out there buying it up before you get there ( or even before the flea market seller can get there)
TheMadD0G garage sales are the next best thing. you can get better deals at them, but you gotta drive around and get exercise for it lol. but no seriously, garage sales are where I'm scoring these days. of course you are still fighting for those games amongst other collectors as well, but you have better shots at good stuff. big neighborhoods often have young couples getting rid of their childhood stuff, or old couples cleaning out their attics. one tip I'll day is this. ALWAYS ASK IF THEY HAVE GAMES!!! Sometimes they forget they have them laying around and they will go grab them. it's worked for me on many occasions.
Oh, man. I'm still laughing my tail off at 3:02. It's not just the finds, but it's how they're presented-- and Pat still does a great job of making me laugh at least a few times in every FMM.
Just out of curiosity, Pat: Do you have a Microvision unit somewhere in your collection? My cousin had one in the late 1970s; we used to play Block Breaker and the Star Trek game a lot. It was a pretty neat idea for its time, though it was eclipsed by other games in the not-too-far future.
Finally love this series
as mentioned at the very end of the most recent cupodcast, this bubble is going to burst very soon. prices are too high and people are going to get tired of paying for it. it happened to cards, it'll happen to games. just be patient folks. and I'm speaking to those who have been in the hobby for a while. If you just got it recently and have blown tons of money I'm sorry. prices were not this high before. I got a copy of mega man x3 for 15 bucks one time back in 2003. that was high back then according to the seller and this was at an old local flea market...
Just seeing this video now. Thanks, CZcams subscriptions!
Yes - What a gift. I wish these were monthly!
I love these swap meet videos. More soon please!
Surprised you didn't have Wonder Boy already. One of the all time classics imo. I still have my one too.
need more episodes please.... ive watched all these at least 3 times each
Holy shit I thought this show was done, thanks!
I 'believe' at least one of the unknown figures @1:41 are from Disneys SF classic - The Black Hole!
one out of three are.
Yes! A new Free Market Madness!
Thought I'd never see a flea market madness again!
finally, been waiting for a long time
jaw dropped when i saw that wonderboy pop up- so jealous!!
"Oh hey.. Do I know you?" classic Frank
I don't care if you don't buy much, I love Flee Market Madness!!
The cabinet of DR. Caligari is a cool movie 4:52
omfg yes!!! no way i thought these were over!!!
If you have no luck at the flea markets, you could always check yard sales and thrift shops.
Nice, was thinking you might not get around to doing any more these due to the various reasons you've mentioned.
Even so, you still know how to make it interesting. The real payoff from flea market/swap meet visits are the videos themselves.
So glad fleemarket madness still alive. Hope to have a flee market madness myself in the near future. Have you ever thought about colabing with James R for a special fleemarket madness?
bout' time! yay more Flea market ... and frank! YESS!
Pat is the lovechild of Chris Kattan and Todd Glass.
MORE FLEA MARKET MADNESS PLEASE
Pat, at 1:30 there was a vintage hotwheels case. Sometimes those are filled with GOLD!!!
sorry I mean 1:20
He said in a previous video that he knows absolutely nothing about Hot Wheels collecting. xD
3:30 20 bucks for a Captain Power figure?! Damn I know they're pretty rare, especially on card, but I didn't think there was a market for them. Hell for the longest time (from the 90s to 2005) I thought I was the only one who remembered Captain Power and the Soldiers of the Future.
man i wish there was something like this Miami all you get here is a small area with ppl selling fake PS3 controllers
