@@kevingome2137 I'm 21 and I remember watching my friend play Prototype and being jealous because all I had was WWE 08 and plug n play games. Finally got Prototype 2, Bioshock and Fallout New Vegas when I was like 9-10. These games are plenty of adult's childhoods.

Man it's a shame everyone sleeping on one of the best monster apocalypse game series ever. The way the environment evolved with the infection was ahead of any game of its time. I still have yet to see another game implement this tpe of environmental evolution on this scale in an open world game.

A Prototype remake with a fixes story would be so cool now. I can't even remember the last big power trip type game. Oh also in the comics leading up to Prototype 2 it builds Alex as someone who lost faith in humanity. He saw the absolute worst of it around the world and that's why in Prototype 2 he wants to infect and control everyone.

He never was a hero. He released the virus that basically destroyed New York and killed thousands.
Mercer sees humanity as a failure and cruel no matter what. So he decided to take matter into his own hands. He's kinda like Eren Yaeger basically

Best example of a good guy turned villain that actually makes sense . So glad more people are talking bout this game
I played the first Prototype a couple years ago and fucking loved it, and I thought Mercer was awesome. But immediately after starting 2 I was disappointed with what they did and felt like they ruined him. :/

What I found interesting that I didn’t even know until recently is the fact that Alex Mercer isn’t even the real Alex Mercer. When he released the virus at penn station he died, but Blacklight, the virus, consumed his corpse as it was the closest living thing and made it his base form. The “protagonist” is actually Blacklight, it is a living virus. That’s why I’m the beginning it seemed like he had amnesia it’s because at that point the only thing it’d consumed was Alex and the only thing it could remember were the fragmented memories that it took from Alex. The same thing would eventually happen to Heller, and also happens to Elizabeth Greene and her child Pariah
For some reason this series and the inFAMOUS series feel so similar and I love them both. I would love to see cole and alex battle
Miss these types of games and this was made back in the old times. Imagine the amount of potential with the current technology and giving into the right hands to make this game a big ass fun open world sandbox badass destruction game.
Insomniac Games could do the trick but it will release it in PlayStation only.

Replayed this one fairly recently, and it still holds up remarkably well. It goes without saying that a new entry in the series with today's technology would be absolutely amazing.
They're doing a sequel to Space Marine 13 years after the first game, what's stopping them from bringing this series back even so long after the original Dev team shut down?

Prototype was always my favorite game series to play when i was younger and i always loved the idea that the character you played as wasn't in the right. Which was what i was used to at the time.
Tbh when i learned that he would be antagonist in prototype 2 i almost lost my shit. I was a teen back then, and it was hard to accept that he is antagonist rather than anti hero like in first chapter. But when i played prototype 2 i liked him as a character even more, even if he was an antagonist, his motivation lined up and he is cool af
Also, Alex is actually a hero who was turned into an antagonist because all of the humans he worked with in the game eventually turned their back on him. His last straw was when his "girlfriend" in the comics betrayed him despite ganing his full loyalty like the man or the VIRUS (cuz alex died in the beginning of the prototype game you only play as the virus thinking itself as Alex mercer) just wanted to help people but instead of atleast showing a bit of gratitude, they treat him like shit. He assumed that the humanity is evil because of those behaviours until he met james. He knew he couldnt change the world because he himself created the whole thing so he infected james without killing him so that james actually keeps his humanity instead of being just a walking virus like alex. At the end alex wasnt even trying to kill james, he always wanted james to win because he saw the humanities best qualities in him. You can see it by the fact that alex actually tells you to equip a different weapon and not to copy his like he was mentoring you. at the end alex accepted his defeat and welcomed james for him being ontop of the predators he knew that james can save the world so he let him consume him, cannonically james actually killed all the walkers on alex's city so there's that. and dont worry alex wont die because he's a virus, and during the events of prototype 1 the virus have evolved to the point where even a single droplet of blood would be enough for alex to regenerate on.

Alex mercer also said "If I'm human, where do I fit in? How can I rejoin humanity?" which questioned me a lot.
He did find his answer that disappoint him that’s why on prototype 2 he went antagonist because he wants to change the world where sickness,greeds and hierarchy doesn’t exist.

Alex Mercer in P1 stopped Gentek's Nuke from destroying the city because there were still non infected people left. He only turned evil during the events of the comics where he lost all hope and believed humanity cannot be redeemed.
One of the best games ever for gameplay. Just felt like a badass and progression never felt slow.

Dr Alexander J Mercer had a rough childhood being in foster care untill he was 9 and given back to his mother when he was 10. However He liked his foster care more. His father was dead shortly after he was born. It is also evident that his mother and father separated ways as was seen in a web of intrigue. Alex was however gifted with high intellect in science which helped him get in gentek. He was a really paranoid and was borderline sociopath might be because of his rough childhood. He was also the only parental figure to his sister Dana Mercer. They both used to play games and watch scary movies. Alex also had an interest in martial arts and fighting evident from his prototype self. After getting in gentek, he quickly rose up the ranks and soon became the head researcher of the facility. He was then given a sample to make a "possible cure" of the Hope,Idaho virus. Mercer soon was endulged into his research work and successfully was able to create a sub-genetic trait of the virus codenamed "blacklight". Even after he was informed that gemtek is a bioweapon research facility , he still continued his research stating "morality is not my job, modifying chimering genes are". However when Alex heard that gentek scientist were silenced one anfter another by blackwatch. He attempted to flee with a sample of the virus as a "insurance". However he was cornered at Penn Station. In a fit of rage Alex smashed the vial to the ground and the blackwatch soldiers shot down Alex immediately. As Alex fell on the virus. The virus started reconstructing his body cell by cell. However as the living host was already dead and his DNA not being resilient enough like James Heller. The virus thought itself to be the original Alex Mercer which was not the case.
Man, i think his most op ability is Musclemass, it amplifies everything, i use it many times with canonball and bulletdive drop.. man good times
