Luke's voice. Is like the Morgan Freeman of bowling, lol
Angels ball reaction is not what I expected. Ball really was sharp for her
Yay new testers. Love Angel since her roll is similar to my wife’s and my purchases are based on what I see here.
Luke being disgusted with his shot and striking are my favorite shots.
11:30 to 11:50 is real talk. Awesome stuff as always Luke!!!!
Awesome certified again!
Great video! I like the other perspectives and appreciate your feedback. Looking forward to 2024.
Looking forward to the review of the Storm Relentless.
I feel attacked for not moving my feet enough lol.
I feel like this thing is a min max ball that will be ready in the bag for anyone on tour throwing the original and want to avoid a drastic change.
I'm a financially challenged bowlers, I only get stuff after it hits the discontinued list and is discounted heavily. Just now finding out how great the night road is.
Me too! I'm just discovering the power of the helios and fate!
11:30 This makes a lot of sense as a fellow lefty. My tournament bag doesn’t have a lot of separation between balls. For example, I’ve found success having an IQTS, Tour Dynam-X, and a Hyped Solid in the same bag during a local sweeper, and I rarely move from the 2nd/3rd arrow zone.
Another example is the NU Blue and PH Reactive. When I feel like I’m in the right zone with the Blue, but the ball is hitting the pins like a wet noodle, I’ll switch to the Reactive and it becomes the absolute nut for the rest of the block.
Absolutely love your reviews Luke!! Im take your reviews very seriously because our styles are so similar. I’m torn between this Summit Peak and the 900 Sublime to pair with my Eternity Pi. Decisions, decisions…..
Yo thanks! The Peak kind of rolls like a symmetric Eternity, so if you want a similar shape but cleaner and sharper, I'd go Peak, but if you want cleaner and sharper but a different shape, would go Sublime.
@@LukeRosdahlappreciate the feedback. I’m ditching my Absolute because it doesn’t seem to suit my style very well even with some surface and whatever I get, will be taking that vacant spot in the bag. I’m thinking the difference in shape with the Sublime might give me a little more versatility.
Why do companies selling balls always say its $260 but we discounted it down to $170 or whatever. Its never $260.....Its always discounted because of the cost of drilling..
It's the trick Kohls plays on women lol. They send out 5 bucks in kohl's cash and make up some wild price so that the regular price looks like a deal. However . . retail bowling prices is what they should be charging relative to what it should cost to stay in business. That sounds wild but retail prices on bowling balls is what they should be charging to actually make money
I think the whole carrying the off hits thing is just like when you see a 2 hander get away with the dumbest shot ever. A ball with the strongest legal core numbers and having a juiced up cover from the phaze 2 is bound to make pins fly. So yes it does kinda carry the off hits but it's not magic
hi luke, terms of strength front to back and friction response how would you compare the sublime’s cover and tx-16 pearl on the journey
another great review as always :)
Both sublime and journey covers are definitely cleaner, i think the sublime cover is the cleanest but its tricky because they’re in similar zones but the cores all act different so its hard to see through that
But yes the sublime as a whole ball is strongest front to back, but covers by themselves, i think tx16 is earlier
Another great video is this ball comparable to the phase 5 IQ tour, Ruby, and the hy road pearl?
Oh no, this one is quite a bit stronger. The core is a lot stronger than the IQs and especially the hyroad, but the coverstock is also significantly stronger.
I wish i could find a 12lbs Revenant if they made 12 pounds. so many cool balls i cant even get cause i cant throw anything above 12
So regarding your take on finishes, would it be fair to say that the level you take the finish (either low grit or high) is somewhat dictated by the starting point of the ball and what it's design is? For example, I have a Zen Gold Label that I'm not totally feeling it with, and I could see me taking it down to 3000 or even 2000 from the reacta gloss, but not any more rough than 2000. So the range would be something like 2000-4000 (or even 5000). Whereas if I had something that was designed to be smoother and more continuous (take the Summit or Phaze II, for example), I could see the bottom of my surface range be as rough as 500 and as high as 3000.
I hope I'm making sense. 2000 or 3000 on a ZGL is intriguing to me. Like you said, better to try out some different surfaces than to just discard it and consider it a lost cause. I hope that question makes sense.
Thanks, as always, for the best reviews on CZcams!
Somewhat yes. If a ball is designed to be longer and stronger, chalking it up and drilling it to be earlier and smoother doesn't make much sense, I like to go the general direction of the ball design. Now sometimes stuff surprises me. Sometimes some dull stuff out of the box looks better shiny, like a Pro Motion, and sometimes shiny stuff out of the box looks amazing dull, like the Clone.
However, sometimes something in the middle works well, and sometimes there's a specific surface that works best for your game. Sometimes people keep everything shiny or everything dull because the ball to ball differences are still going to shine through. A Summit at 2000 is still going to be earlier and smoother than a ZGL at 2000, etc.
I think you're definitely on the right track or are thinking in the right direction.
Would you "ball down" to the peak after exo gem on a ths, lookin for a strong sym
Yeah that'd be a great ball down
Would Summit peak be good complement to my trusty ole Phaze II, I only bowl on league house shot typically
Yep, definitely. Peak would still be a half to full ball down from the P2, provided the P2 has some surface
@@LukeRosdahl
Awesome thanks man, I really enjoy the reviews and especially with Angel, cause her style almost fits my style and my wife’s style to a T
You should do a video about your release. Seems like both of you release with fingers above the equator of the ball yet you get good revs. Goes against everything I’ve seen in instructional videos
We never claimed to have perfect form lol, I'm not actually lefthanded and Angel doesn't get to practice much, but we keep working at it! Most people want to see average bowlers that throw the ball like they do though because it's easier to relate to that than to a pro that can make any ball look good.
Both of you are good bowlers I wasn’t knocking you. I’m trying to get better and watching you two has given me something different to try. I actually threw my best game yesterday trying your style. I haven’t quite got the revs that you have yet but I’m working on it. So why are you throwing lefty if you’re a righty?
@@mollynorthrop3657 Shoulder injury. I've tried switching back a couple times and it hasn't worked so I guess I'm just going to be a career lefty!
Sorry to hear about the shoulder… must have been devastating to a person that loves to bowl. I am impressed at how well you can bowl left handed though for sure!
Is there a spot in the bag for it with Reality, VBO, Eternity, Phaze 2 and Sublime
Its really close to the eternity. Almost identical feels
@@LukeRosdahl thank you
@@LukeRosdahl About the same for the Altered Reality or Nuclear Cell then?
Not quite, the Altered and Nuclear were definitely more angular and had more torque. The Eternity is kind of slow and calm for a shiny asym, but it's heavy rolling like the Peak.
@@LukeRosdahl thanks
Since Step 2 has been discontinued, what compound is a good alternative?
I haven't tried the Rough Edge or Smooth Edge compounds yet, but I've heard a lot of good things about them, and Rough Edge is the one that's supposed to be the most similar. Or if you'd rather go for something more tried and true, Brunswick's Crown Compound is good stuff.
How do you feel the peak compares to the sublime. I’ve been debating between these
The Peak is definitely earlier and slower, a little more forward too, but also a little stronger.
How does the peak compare to the VEBO and revenant?
Not close to either one. The Peak is significantly earlier than both, a little more directional because both the Blackout and Revenant are pretty round and continuous, and I think both the Blackout and Revenant are sharper on the backend. Ultimately the Peak is earlier and stronger for me than the Blackout is, the Blackout is actually a ball down from the Peak for me.
Hi im pretty new to bowling im currently using summit as my only/first ball for league and i was wondering if i should get summit peak or journey as a ball down/one two punch for summit, thanks in advance
I'd get a Journey, the Summit Peak is a little too close to the Summit
@@LukeRosdahl Thanks alot!.
I currently have the black widow 2.0 hybrid and I’m looking to add another ball for league. What ball from storm and its companies would you recommend for me to add. I’m a two handed that’s gets pretty decent speed and revs
Do you want something stronger or weaker than the 2.0?
@@LukeRosdahl at one point I’d like to add one stronger and weaker
For the stronger ball, would probably go with a Reality, then for weaker would probably go with an XPonent or a Hyped Solid
how does the Peak compare to the Axiom Pearl?
Not similar for me at least, but to be fair, the AxP was really bad for me. It never really hooked much and just gave up down lane. Did you like yours?
@@LukeRosdahl the AxP hooked a ton for me, it was smooth and had a lot of energy in the backend when I needed something to bite more than my Axiom Solid, and more ball than (currently) my Journey or Fate
Ah ok, well if you got one that reacted normally, this should be really close!
Summit, Summit Peak vs Sublime?
Summit and summit peak are obviously pretty similar, the Sublime though is quite a bit cleaner and sharper. It's still strong, but more of a long and sharp shape than these two
@@LukeRosdahl Ty for quick reply. 2 of 3 houses I bowl at use 30ml oil and the sublime sometimes can't make corner and splits but outside is OB. Tried Gem (hook/stop) Magic Gem (same as gem) and PI (great till 2 game when lane shine makes it flippy). When sublime is on it's lights out but looking for something just a notch stronger and hoping Summit might be it. RH, 320 RR, 17.5 mph, 5.5 over 3/4 up
Summit will definitely be it, and if its not, you have problems i cant help with lol
@@LukeRosdahl LOL .. That's a given!
I just started learning how to hook with my new Storm Tropical Surge. What would be a good Storm second ball to add to my bag?
By far the most over saturated market for a game in the history of sports/game.
