So nice you see a Black woman doing what I want to do!
So reasssuring ❤
this video is great! i’m graduating this fall with my bachelors in psychology and sociology. i want to follow the forensic psychology route and will apply in 1 to 2 years. this video really helped with understanding the application process! :) for a suggestion, i would love for you to talk about the financial aid process and where to find scholarships in a future video, if possible!! 💖
Your videos def showed me the reality of forensic psychology and honestly made me want to persue the career even more, thank you!
Great vlog Sis!
thank you for this!
Great video! I just finished my bachelors and am hoping to apply to clinical forensic psychology doctoral programs soon. Would love to see more of your process of applying :)
Congrats!! And I will have more videos on the application process
Thank you!
Wow you are amazing thank you! I also have ADHD aha
Hi, sorry I'm quite late to this! I'm writing as a freshman who is just starting college. I'm currently majoring in psychology, and I'm actually just learning about the different fields, so I'm now just finding out about forensic psychology. I really liked everything you touched in your videos about this topic because it makes me more interested in pursuing this career. I wanted to know- is it a good option to do a double major in both psychology and criminal justice/ criminology? Or do you think I should minor in criminology and stick with my major? Also, do you think you can explain more on transitioning from a bachelors to masters?
Thank you for taking the time to read this!
I can 100% make a video on the transition process! But either option is great! I double majored & triple minored but that’s because there was a lot of overlap
I hope you can help me what kind of course I need to study in my first year in college to pursue forensic psychology?
Ty
I’m starting at Drexel next year ☺️
I applied there as well (:
I really want to pursue Forensic Psychology :(( I am currently a BS Psychology student but the problem is schools for this field in my country is so raaaaaare and finding one would cost me so MUCH like a $1958 for the fees :((
I want to go back to school but I got my bachelor’s degree 5 years ago…getting the letters of recommendation would be challenging and I didn’t get my Bachelor’s in Psychology. What would you recommend for me?
Thank you so much for posting these videos, there’s not that much material on forensic psych out there. Would you consider this field subject or objective? Can 2 psychologists arrive at vastly different results regarding the same pt, or is there objective criteria to follow that doesn’t allow room for opinion. Thank you 💕
It can be both. The hard part about the field is studying human behavior which can vary person to person. There’s also cultural factors so what is abnormal to me may not be abnormal to you. There’s standards for the field in general though
Also if I am interested in doing my M.A in forensic Psych. Then my psy.d in clinical with forensic could that be a good route?
Please answer my question I don't know anymore what best course to pursue forensic psychology.
Hi there! Thank you so much for your video- I was wondering what your advice was regarding degrees and “emphasis” or “concentration” routes in forensic psychology. There are extremely limited options for a Psy.D. in Forensic Psychology so I was wondering if I could still become a practicing forensic psychologist with a Psy.D. In clinical psychology (a more generalist psych program) or if this is rather frowned upon?
Thank you!
Yes you can! Most people do go the concentration route. If you can receive training in forensic psychology you're all good to go
Yes. I am in counseling psychology and you can take internships in that field and get that experience and work in that field.
I have a bachelor's degree in Translation. Can I persue a Masters degree in Forensic psychology or would I have to do an undergraduate in Forensic psychology first?
so i want to become a correctional psychologist.. so i start at liberty university for my bachelors in criminal justice - psychology then getting my Master in Forensic Psychology.. so should get a PHD in Psychology or PSYD in Clinical Psychology?
Thank you for this video! I’m writing as a junior in high school. I’m thinking I would like to go into Forensic Psy - should I look at schools that offer a BA or BS in Psychology?
Either one would be great. You would take primarily the same classes for both degree choices
How do you balance working and school to stay independent? After I finish my bachelors degree I want to work full time and go to school part time for my masters in Psych. Just curious what works for you.
I prioritize things that are the most important. I try to get as much work as I can before work, after work, and on breaks at work.
hi!! i'm applying for college next fall, what majors or schools would you recommend? is it better to major in psychology then specialize in forensic psych in grad school, etc. or would it be better to find a college that offers forensic psych as a bachelors degree and start there right away?
I was wondering the same. I think a major is psychology gives you a wider range of choices though, uou know, in case you change your mind or anything
When applying for graduate schools, does it matter what kind of program you apply to or does it have to be forensic psychology?
For example if I get a bachelors in psychology and go on to get a masters in criminology or criminal justice, would that set me up where I need to be pre-phd.
If that makes sense
Thanks!
it doesn’t matter the program. you can go from a masters in criminology to phd in forensic psychology. however, keep in mind that there’s a difference with forensic psychology and criminology/criminal justice since one looks at the societal reasoning of things while the other is more individually based :)
also, keep in mind that some schools will required pre reqs so watch out for those. i recommend to always read the requirements of getting admitted into the program of whichever school you desire to get into! it
will tell you a lot and make you understand better on what you have to do!!
@@starrytiffany So you can basically get a degree in anything that relates to the field? Would a PhD in “Developmental Psychology and Law” basically be the same thing as forensic Psych?
At Georgetown for a Psych PhD they have concentrations in either “Human Development and Public Policy” or “Lifespan Cognitive Neuroscience.” Would the HDPP concentration work with going the forensic route?
@@haylee42 yes, any degree works as long as it relates to the field and you fulfill those pre reqs. there’s differences between developmental psych + law and forensic psych. one focuses more on the legal system while the other focuses on the mental health of offenders and if they will offend again. HDPP i believe will have it’s differences from forensic psych. yes, you can work within the legal system, but i believe you will be required to do different types of work. you should definitely decide on what kind of path you want to follow. also, compare the HDPP program to forensic psych programs. they bit ask for different kinds of classes and require you to do different things to receive the degree. again, the most important thing is to research
Does this involve math😔😭
And I do have adult ADHD
What school did you apply to for your undergrad degree for forensic psychology
I graduated from Western Illinois University
Does it matter what concentration you had in your psychology masters degree if you want to go on to a psy.d forensic psychology program?
No! As long as you have the pre reqs to get into the program you're good
@@kayladanielle2358 thank you!!
hello i'm not sure if your still replying to comment since this post is a year old but i'm a senior in high school and i'd like to know what exactly would i need to start studying to get into forensic psychology.
Hi, did you find out lol? I am now a senior :)
I was wondering if I can happen to communicate with you personally I have some specific questions I want to ask about being a forensic psychologist
Yes! You can shoot me a DM on Instagram!
CAN I study Bachelor of Science in Psychology or AB in Psychology to become a forensic psychology ?
Hi, you need a doctorate in psychology and must be licensed under the BOP.
I have an English degree , or I am an English degree, do I need to double major ? Or can I still go to grad school with my English degree
If you have the psychology pre reqs you may not need to double major to get into a forensic psych grad program
Im a human service major with a double minor of psychology and sociology do i stand a chance getting into forensic psychology in graduate school?
As long as you meet the pre reqs yes!
is it essential to have a Bachelor's degree in Law in order to do forensic psychology ?
People in the forensic psychology field typically receive forensic or general psychology Bachelor degrees. A law degree is not required to be a forensic psychologist, just the licensure and typically a Ph.D. or PsyD in Forensic Psychology. People take different routes though, I've seen people who work as forensic psychologists have degrees in just Clinical Psychology.
Can I still be a forensic psychologist if my bachelor major is just regular psychology or does my major have to specifically forensic psychology. I want to know if I should change it but I also might want to be clinical psychologist but I don’t want to ruin my chances for either one
Yes you can! Your graduate level degree can be in forensic psychology
I legit have the best references of letters of recommendation. They work in the fbi and atf 🫶🏽
