In 2017, on Thanksgiving, I was in Kuwait. 5 or so people were selected from each branch of the military to have a video conference with President Trump, and somehow I was one of those. For the first 3 minutes he was surrounded by press as he made a brief speech. He then abruptly told them all to get out immediately so he could speak to his troops privately. And then he became a totally normal guy. Laughing and joking with us while asking questions about where we were & what we were doing, etc. He even doged on the Navy for having just lost the football game to the Army. It was 30 minutes of genuinely wholesome conversation that took away some of the sting of being away for the holidays. I've been in the Army for nearly a decade now, and that is by far the highlight of my military career.

You also got to do the research. Trump cancelled a visit to Aisne-Marne American Cemetery were 1,800 American soldiers were buried. His reasoning to the public was because the helicopter couldn't take off because of the rain. However they got him on tape saying "Why would I go to that Cemetery, its filled with losers" Then he continues to call the 1,800 soldiers that died their "Suckers" for being killed. Your only seeing what he wants you to see, but behind close doors he could care less.
People don't like him because he's "abrasive, cocky, and loud-mouthed" at best.... But I think we need more of that nowadays!

Without the media technology we now have, the things we laugh and joke about our leaders would have been lost to the next generations. Even lost to the current people living who only had newspapers to read. No video or internet memes. The only thing back in the day that you could learn of a persons faults that we laugh at today were the politcal satire cartoons. Before newspapers if you didnt see a leader in person the rest was gossip.

I guess there was just a little nice safety in believing that the average person is decently intelligent, these days we unfortunately know that is not the case and I humbly hate myself for being no different if we're being honest, I might be self aware but that just makes me aware of my own stupidity, not much else.
Then we also have the fact that we are scientifically getting stupider for every generation sadly. The theory goes like this: Hawks have insane eyes because without them they can't catch prey and die, Bears have huge muscles and claws for the same reason and have genetically kept them for that very purpose. Human beings had none of these, we had brains to build stuff, a brain now relaxed and replaced by the internet and phones, because of this we get dumber and dumber as we have no need to remain smart for we genetically evolve to focus other things sadly. I mean how many times have you yourself not thought, "I don't need to remember that, I'll just Google it later." Exactly... but it's fascinating to me though, how the brain got smarter and smarter to the point of inventing its own replacement then for dumber because of it, funny how nature works sometimes.
There's so much I'd like to add to this topic all jokes aside, but I think a fitting end is a quote from a CZcamsr that once said:
"Did the world REALLY get worse, or did you just grow old enough to start paying attention to the news?"
It's oddly fitting here I think, truth be told stranger, I laugh at the absurdity, but it's only to keep my mind off of the depressing reality that this is in fact the world I will live, grow up and later die in, not exactly the great world my generation was falsely promised... But at least I'm not blown to bits in a war like my grandfather's friend in WW2... Well yet given circumstances... But let's hope it stays that way too.
