    To learn more about the Waismann Method® - Rapid Detox: www.opiates.com
    Discovery Health program Medical Diary takes a look at Sergio, a young husband and father who's become addicted to heroin and decides to undergo rapid opiate detox. The Waismann Institute in California treats Sergio in a hospital where he is given intravenous medication to push heroin off receptor sites in his brain. During this, he is under light anesthesia to prevent a dangerous and painful withdrawal.
    Waismann Institute treats addiction as a medical condition, careful to never label or treat patients as criminals. Sergio takes a daily dose of Naltrexone to control cravings and after two weeks of being home reports he is opiate-free. He is looking forward to his future for the first time in a long time.

    I personally have a close friend who did this. I’m skeptical only for one reason. Yes you’re body is cured which for me as a recovering addict myself is absolutely remarkable, my friends wife said it was an awful experience only because he was physically better but his mental didn’t have time to catch up

      For many people there's the body's physical dependence on the drug and the psychological addiction. This treatment is for the physical dependence which is why we offer aftercare and an assessment by a licensed psychotherapist. He works with clients to determine a plan and makes recommendations based on their individual emotional needs.

      Greg, most successful patients, after detox, go back to a productive life and put addiction issues behind them. We call them throughout the first year to offer support because we care. I'm sure you will have a comment about that, but it does not matter. We know what we offer is the most effective, safe and more importantly, the most humane form of opioid detoxification out there. We treat people as patients and provide them with an opportunity to work with their emotional issues without being affected by drug abuse. That is pretty awesome!

      You are right and I apologize. We usually don't take such defensive approach, but we lately we have been bombarded with people trying to convince others to use Suboxone and Methadone, and for that, they have to prove that no treatment is worth trying. Although we cannot claim to fix everyone's emotional and personal issues, we give them the best chance of reaching an opioid free state in order to better adhere to any emotional assistance.

      There's no absolutely pain free way to get through opioid detoxification, but this is the most comfortable option. Your body goes through the worst part of withdrawal while you are sedated, but once you wake up there is a regulation period. Opioids effect all of your major organs so the body needs time to adjust and find a new normal. We support you during this period and treat the physical and emotional discomfort.

    • @jgx0x0
      @jgx0x0 Před 4 lety

      That is 100% true, I did this and in my opinion while your sedated, you skip days 1-3 and have some left over symptoms but nothing near the horror of the first three days. This DOES work, only if you want it though, like anything when it comes to recovery. The mental aspect is something entirely different. Also aftercare plans. Good luck & god bless

      Patients are usually in the hospital for two to three days and the remainder of the time at our recovery center Domus Retreat. At the recovery center, we assist each patient with the emotional and physical transition, which substantially maximizes the safety and effectiveness of the treatment. We also provide many different therapeutic services to make the recovery phase much more comfortable and successful.

    Yeah.. but with my luck as soon as I wake up from the anesthesia I’d have the super rude awakening and I’d still be going through intense, intense withdrawal.
    I take 145mg methadone daily, so if I wanted to detox cold turkey it’d take months. I feel like if I did this I’d basically be put under anasthesia and as soon as I wake up (if I do wake up) I’d just be at the peak of the miserable withdrawal symptoms and they wouldn’t be able to do anything for me except say “Well, here’s some clonidine. Good luck. Now get out of our facility.”

    • @WaismannMethod
      @WaismannMethod  Před 5 lety +8

      This is not necessarily the case. While there is usually no physical cravings after rapid detox, our treatment not only induces the withdrawal process, but also condenses the process usually between one to two hours. If there are any symptoms, our doctor will help minimize these symptoms. As fast as we do rapid detox, the body still needs to regulate itself after detox. Our detox option is not a miracle cure, but probably the most humane and respectful option for opiate detoxification you will find.

      Our medical director has been doing these procedures since 1998 and he has perfected this method. Of course there are risks anytime a person undergoes anesthesia or even if a person withdrawals on their own at home. By doing this treatment in a full service hospital with board certified specialists, and a thorough pre-examination it is as safe as possible. Not every patient is a candidate for this method so we properly assess each patient to make sure this is the best course of treatment. Detoxing patients in the hospital is also more costly since we don't own the hospital, but we never sacrifice good medical care for profit.

      No the Nalrexone/Vivitrol doesn't cause any withdrawal because it's not a narcotic and it just blocks the opiate receptors. Some decide to take it for just a couple months and others for 1-2 years because they prefer to have a safety net.
