Aren't they lovely. Which varieties have you got? And easy to propagate from summer cuttings too if you want to raise some more.

Hi, great video. Looking for help please. I planted 2 mixed buddleias last year, flowers were lovely and have grown quite big which i love but about 6 weeks ago the leaves started to look curled up and was covered in teeny tiny black insects very difficult to see with the naked eye both plants seems to have been attacked particularly at the tips. I read somewhere you can spray washing up liquid mixed with water which i did but leaves turned white and plants look awful. Should i chop the whole plant back or just leave it as i want to see if they will flower again this year? Its heartbreaking to see this upsets me very much dont know what to do hoping you can guude me in the right direction. Many thanks. Mrs B

How disappointing! It’s awful when pests strike, and every gardener faces this with one plant or another.
This does sound as if it could be blackly, and rather like greenfly and other aphids they can often be treated by spraying with a soapy spray, although you have to get the concentration right.
I would prefer to buy a suitable soap-based insecticide rather than use a dilution of washing-up liquid.
Now you have a decision to make. You could just leave alone and hopefully new shoots and leaves will grow away and produce flowers.
If you did cut back some of the unsightly stems then you could get healthy new shoots developing from these, but probably not as long and vigorous as the existing growth.
Perhaps opt for the middle ground, cutting out a few unsightly pieces but leaving the rest.
I hope you do get to enjoy some flowers later this summer.
