    Hiya Emma,
Again, that was a fantastic video; thank you and Deputy Dawg.
It's good you are learning about the infrastructure on a farm, from collecting orifices in town to having all the needed parts where they are necessary when they are required. From diesel on upwards.
Your new sidekick is wonderful; I love him already. He'll be driving a tractor before long.
    Stay safe, Dear Lady, Steve...

You are in North Texas. Down in South Texas, the Rio Grande Valley, we have some corn nearly knee high and cotton already in the ground. Three crops a year down here if there is water in Falcon and Amistad dams on the Rio Grande, but the last few years have been pretty dry. Lot of us are growing grain (Milo or Sorghum to you northerners) as it doesn't take near the water sugar cane, corn, and cotton takes.

What kind of corn grows best in south Texas? Thinking about doing a corn maze in a few years so it doesn't need to be sweetcorn. Just tall, strong stalks!

Yahoo! My favorite INTERNATIONAL itinerant farmer! (I may yet find another favorite domestic itinerant farmer, but you'll always be my international No.1.)
A battery-powered soldering iron works wonderfully for rounding off those sharp edges left after cutting zip-ties. And I only had to cut myself 5 times to figure that out.

Come On Caroline! CZcams needs more great smiles like yours.
Don't you want to be stalked....I mean followed by 28,000 people like Emma??? lol!
But it would be nice to learn about farming in Texas.
Hell most folks think all there is there is in Texas, is Cowboys, Oil Wells,
and Senators that go to Cancun when it gets cold! You're proof it's NOT!
    I'll subscribe Caroline, I promise!

I bought the Field Tuff two row seeder to plant peas in February. Problem is, the tubes where the seeds far through the hoppers to the correct dirt depth got plugged with clay and I unknowingly didn't plant much further than half the first row. I didn't notice this until about three weeks later because I thought that the depth was wrong being the reason that nothing was growing. I saw in the video on huge planter around 5:00 that the seeds leave the tube, which is pointed in the backward direction. Does this prevent clogging?
If the seeds depth is wrong, what happens to the seeds there? Or, is that performed in an inconsequential part of the field where double planting at different depths wouldn't matter?
What temperature is the ground in Texas? I assume that at least 50 degF is necessary. Do they worry about freezing a few weeks from now?
What's applied to the seeds to make them green?
What NPK fertilizer are they using and is liquid preferred to granular?

    Hey Emma,
    Great farm friend choice.
Duke looks like he's gonna be a Terrorist. lol!
So when was the last time you watched Borat?
You need to get someone in Nebraska to bundle up with all their winter clothes, and film themselves just standing in the freezing snow & wind. Then whenever you mention Nebraska, you can edit it in, for like 3 seconds. (wevery funny!)
    One quick question.
Have you ever heard of Black Lung? (a coal miner's disease)
There used to be White Lung disease (girls who worked in knitting mills died from it)
There was a huge lawsuit about Talcum Power causing cervical cancer.
Talc, and Asbestos Talc are literally from the same hole in the ground.
Please Mask Up. OK? Lung Cancer sucks!
    XO!
    W

Graphite is carbon, not lead. Substitute for talc. I would be more concerned with the seed treatment dust, some heavy pesticides sometimes, but needed. Use proper PPE!
