Now thanks to you I own a pair of 990s the 600 ohm version and 1 kph30ik (with replacement pads) and one clear set which I just bought off Amazon ($5 discount)(replacement pads otw). I love these headphones so much I even bought a pair for my brother who travels all the time. These are literally the best budget headphones in my studio. Great reviews!!! Ironically, the headband usually is the first to go on the kph30i, snaps like a twig.
The cable does have an issue where the spring at the base of the cable can develop a bad connection and/or static when bent during normal use.
Koss ktx pro 1 are why I am a budget audiophile. I might buy a pair for the early 2000s nostalgia.

BTW, online there are so many different comments and preferences about KPH30i, ksc75 and portapro... one should buy all of them!
The portapro and ksc75 even share the same pseudo-balljoint system that connect the proper headphones to their headband/earclip.
so if you have both; you can create the Dirtiest Grados and the Porta-Er-Pros!

Anyone have any opinions on the wyze headphones vs these? They are almost around the same price and wyze seems to have alot more going on for features. Love the look and the weight on these though. Thanks for the video Z

unlike the other colorways, the clear doesnt seem to have foam behind the driver. Notice any difference in sound?

I never broke the cables on any Koss, but sadly broke the plastics on my first run Massdrop Rhythm Beige cause they were so tight.
Eyy, my brother just got his kph30i's today and he's borrowing my pads now. The clear do be neat tho. I'm not worried about thin wires, but to get good volume out of them I feel like I'm beating the shit out of em. The driver would probably go before the wire in my use.

0:55 didn't find out until some time last year that all those clear electronics I enjoyed in my younger years were most likely influenced by the needs of the carceral state.
The cable doesn't seem that flimsy. My pair of KPH30i broke at the headband. It just snapped when taking them off my head. Even paid Canadian import fees to get them :'(

These sound a lil bit different i dont know how to explain it, but the missing insolation the originals have behind the driver might explain the change in sound.

Have you noticed any difference in sound between the clears and the normals ones due to the lack of the rear driver foam in the clears?

sorry for the late reply. set-up: MacBook Pro 2020, khadas tone 2 pro dac/amp, Tidal + personal Flac+Wav library playing thru VLC. The clear plastic does seem like its slightly less durable than my grey pair, not by a crazy amount, maybe 5% differential. the adjustment sliders are also slightly looser on the clear pair. anyway, this actually helps the comfort quite a bit, the clamping is reduced significantly in comparison to my grey pair. assuming this is b/c of the clear mold having a bit more flex.
as far as sound goes, with the reduced dampening due to the rear foam being removed, I feel as tho there is an added hint of airy-ness, and the decay of notes from vocals + instruments is more pleasurable. since the clamping is reduced, the sound stage opens up a bit.
@@amada790 after A/B'ing the RB and CL pairs, I can about sum up my experience to be the same as yours.
It feels less like there's music playing into a "pod" next to your ears, they sound more like open backs now and less like semi-open headphones.
And they already sounded nice before haha
But yeah, thanks for confirming I'm not crazy. Can't wait for Z's vid on these, if he ever puts one out

If you're going to replace the cable with a decent braided replacement... Might as well balance it for shits and giggles. Not sq or power these are ez to drive.

I suspect with the general durability of the Koss plastic, having a clear headband = having a shitty plastic that get's sun damaged easier then the darker plastics, just like zip ties.
I would kill someone, for like a durable set of KPH30I's....
Though I am kind of curious if I can stick Grado pads on some portapros..., actually fuck it, order is on it's way.

In American Prisons (not sure elsewhere but im sure its the same) almost everything needs to be clear so inmates can hide contraband inside of personal items
But I already have a pair...
I am keeping an eye open for them, but the KPH30i are nearly impossible to find in Europe :_(

@@ducciboi it’s super hard to solder this small Mmcx pins and when you try to remove the cable you can easily rip out the entire mmcx connector.
Two pin is easier to solder and doesn’t break as quickly.
