Nice. As a bassoon player, I respect the euphoniums, especially as we usually have the same parts.
Thanks friend, very similar sound features between basson and euph indeed. Glad you liked the video!
I respect the euphonium players as 1st trombone my director often puts me on a euphonium part and it’s not easy (we don’t have that many runs)
As a euphonium player, they’re awesome. It’s a combination of chords, quick notes like the woodwinds, and melody (for me it’s usually with the tenor saxophone)
as a euphonium player myself, i can honestly say that euphoniums are amazing
The Best! #euphgang
They’re overrated baritones get no love
Superheroes and the euphonium. My two favorite things
Double that all day! #euphgang
I’m in 8th grade and I play t.c. Euphonium and I love this because you have the treble clef piece on there as well as the bass clef piece
Yes, very good for learning clef transpositions isn't it? That's how I've learnt it myself :)
Bass clef baritone is where it is at
N a im just joking they are the same kinda
Same! Im in 8th grade too!
Played the double-belled euphonium in 8th grade, loved it. This video gave me chills, 50 years later.
Thank you!
I’m really loving your videos I’m so busy getting through them, so enjoyable.
This is Epic!! Great decision! My appreciation to the Ensemble and Director!
Thanks friend! Glad you enjoyed it!
Euphonium is the Best! Baritone is pretty awesome too. Love playing my euphonium. You always sound great!
Thanks friend! #euphgang
Always looking forward to some new content or music from your channel
Thanks Ellen, glad you enjoy the content friend! Your feedback always welcome :)
WAY under-rated! The BEST sounding voice in the band!!
For sure! And the second best sounding voice in band is second euphonium! Just my opinion :D
@@Matonizz Nah. That's a FACT!
Lovely!!
Duuude....The Sound of Music solo was of the charts awesome! Just...wow! Congrats!
Thank you friend!
I recently performed my bachelor's Senior recital. Watching your videos definitely helped me achieve success in my pieces. I always enjoy your sound. Thanks!
Glad to hear you find my content useful friend! Congrats on successful recital and thanks for watching the channel!
Wow! This is some tasty Euph content 🔥🔥🔥
Thanks friend! #euphgang
man i love this channel 😭😭😭
Much appreciated!
My #1 news source

Nice.. respect to euphonium..
Thanks friend!
Love this
Thank you friend!
Euphoniums are the best.
I was wondering if there would be a day where I saw you upload this song
Which one are you referring to friend? Make sure to check the excerpts in patreon, uploading right now!
@@Matonizz Both Captain America theme and The Sound of Music. To be honest didn't think I would see both of them in the same video. But glad to see them either way
@@scuttle1162 I will upload full The Sound of Music at some point :) Either way, glad you enjoyed the video!
@@Matonizz Always do. Keep up the great work!
@@scuttle1162 Thank you friend!
awesome
Thank you!
Cool arrangements!
Super fun to play! Cool euph and bari parts :)
@@Matonizz I was a music major in college, played in a community band in high school, and spent many summers at band camp; lots of really fun arrangements out there. Hearing you guys play brings back memories!!
@@Lolaismypoopydog2036 Thanks friend, band experience is second to none. Hope we will all be able to be back to regular playing schedule soon :)
There are not just two superheroes here the horn player be looking like colonel sanders LMAO
Very good. As a euphonium player myself I find the scales very annoying. You are my inspiration and keep up the good work 😎
Thanks for kind words friend!
Is this a reduced brass band? I see 1 euph, 1 bari, 2 horns, and a flugel. I'm guessing 1 of each tuba and 1 on each cornet part (2 on solo maybe)?
Yes, 19 instead of 28 :)
Best instrument!!!!!
YEEEES! #euphgang
Top de mais
Very nice.😎 I hope I'll get to hear the RCB do "Portals" from Endgame, someday!
Also, haven't seen that you've answered this (or been asked) but, what mouthpiece(s) do you use, normally?
Edit: I found it in the Q&A #4 you did about 3 years ago. Are you still using the Parker, or have you cycled in a new favorite?
Thanks friend and still use same Parker and once in a while Schillke if doing jazz/swing gigs :)
Stellar euph playing! Makes me miss wind band even more. I mainly play tuba now, and I'd like a proper tenor tuba to enjoy!
Thanks friend! We need our music back, getting sick of not being able to play on normal schedule as well!
@@Matonizz I'm not playing at all besides home practicing and my weekly lessons. I really want to have gigs again
@@tobysimard9638 Same. Need to have our live playing back asap! Hope that will be the case soon :)
@@Matonizz Me too! Especially with the school year almost halfway done. I'll be looking at my first year of music college. I need that to be in person
Waw so nice 👌 I really need these instruments if I can able to get them 🙏🙏🙏🙏❤❤
2:48
how do you play tenuto and staccato at the same time???
I am a student euphonium player and I wish I could play parts that cool!
Thanks friend. Keep practicing hard and you'll get as far as you want!
Bruh.............. always underrated. We get no respect sometimes. But when we get to shine we are always a head turner!
Yes! Totally agree! Need more orchestra pieces with euph as well RIGHT NOW!!!
@@Matonizz only ask and you know I’m on it! I promised you a piece and delivered (hope y’all love it!) and you know if donor again!
@@dsgalanjr On my bucket list. Haven't had a chance to play your piece yet. We'll have some smaller gigs with piano (hopefully) soon so will put that in our rehearsals, maybe get you a recording or make one on youtube as well :)
Hey! I was wondering what your opinion is on long tones, as your warm up pdf that you released a while back did not have them, only breathing, freebuzzing, chromatic scales, and arpeggios. Thanks!
Hi Christopher, long tones are SUPER GOOD for you. The simplicity of playing long tones allows you to isolate pretty much any area of fundamentals (maybe except fingers for most part) and focus solely on it without worrying about the texture of the exercise. You can practice inhale timing, smooth transition from inhale to exhale, airspeed control, aperture control, tension control, tongue movement, posture, vibrato and so many other things through it. I do long tones on freebuzz and whistle exercises for around 20-30min everyday. I didn't cover that in my routine since I felt the need for a separate video which will hopefully come out in a very near future. That being said YES for long tones. Hope this helps friend!
Alright, thanks so much!!!
@@christopherklacka3449 Most welcome!
I played french horn since the 6th grade. My band teacher says I was too good to play anything else... love euphonium though
Ich geh sofort üben.
Nice! #horngang
You can always follow your heart’s desire later on, but the reality is that you will have more professional/playing opportunities with the F horn and your teacher knows you as a player rather than some random on CZcams 😂
Have a look into the Bb/F Wagner tuba- they are played by horn players in certain pieces by Wagner, Stravinsky, Bruckner instead of French Horns but are a little baritone/euphonium like. Apparently the Wessex ones are not too bad. I’m not too sure on mouthpiece size though. Good luck.
Love baritone but I love trombone more
So im a student plaayer and I have questions about sound control and how to not have bad tone not in volume but in good sound does that come with time or is it like a mental thing or what?
Honestly the more you play the better your control over your air will be. Always make sure you are opening your throat, open up your mouth and use plenty of air
Hi Mr. Matonis,
Is the second song (sgt. pepper and the lonely hearts club) available for purchase somewhere? I am searching for a recording of exactly this brass band arrangement, but sadly can't find it. Ideally it would be a recording of the band shown in the video, this way I could support you by purchasing it :)
Thank you very much.
For some reason that is penny lane not sgt peppers lonely hearts club band
@@benjitrombone4701 thank you very much :)
can we get a live video anytime soon? maybe working through a technical piece of music?
Yes, want to start doing live stuff again soon. We've been working full time to ensure you guys have music content every week to listen to, as soon as my schedule frees up a bit the plan is to start investing more time again in livestreams. Thanks for feedback friend!
Wooooaaaahhhhh. Baritones??? Steady on
:D:D Well that's what scientists and sources say, I'm just a messenger :D
I did this before at after school
I notice that he puts two writings in his videos, one in clef of Fá and one in clef of Sol. Regarding the euphonium, are both ways right?
Yes friend! Euphonium is mostly read in Bb treble clef in Europe and as a C instrument in bass clef in USA. I put both so everyone could follow the music :)
thanks! Congratulations for the work!
Im curious as to why the treble clef isn't actually treble clef, is the euphonium transposed in some strange way in brass bands. The notes are are a whole step above where they should be in the sheet music
CyanideWolf03 Baritones/Euphoniums in a British Brass Band are treated as Bb transposing instruments.
All instruments except bass tromb are. It made it easier to swap players between instruments and teach in a group setting when bands were being formulated. Basically all valved instruments use the same fingering for the written notes across the whole band.
Treble clef euphonium is read like trumpet music and at least where I am from most euphonium players that read treble are previously trumpet players so it’s easier for them to just read like that
@@brasschick4214 Great answer, thank you!
When reading in treble they are Bb transposing but are concert pitch when reading bass.
@@brasschick4214 ah I see, that does make things easier, I was wondering how that worked. I’ve learned how to read multiple clefs but when I saw them play Bb when the treble music read C I was very puzzled
I love euphoniums...but dat tuba doe. Lol
Trombone and euphonium have similar sounds since they’re both low brass, but I kinda wish I would’ve chose to play euphonium instead of trombone now
There are some really cool features on trombone as well in brass bands :)
Wish i could play a brass instrument....literally dont’t know how ya’ll do it
How do y’all tongue so fast!??!
Fingers go brrrrr....
Tonto is playing a baritone.................cool.
Lol, had to google what's Tonto :D
@@Matonizz He was the side kick of the Lone Ranger.
I kept on hearing the Star Wars theme in the Beginning
Funny, because if I didn't run out of time I was going to be Imperial March in this video as well :D
@@Matonizz maybe next video 😳
As a Baritone player in a British Brass Band we are under rated but as someone who has also played Euphonium I believe they’re in the overrated hence why you don’t really see many Baritone solos but tons of Euphonium solos.
Less baritone students my best guess would be. I did my undergrad in UK and the ration in studio was normally around 5:1 but there are definitely some great bari players in bands around UK
Yooo, Adam Sandler plays euph?
Euphoniums and baritones are underrated. Definitely not bias, definitely don’t play euphonium.
