    1990 Mustang GT with Edelbrock heads, E303 cam, Edelbrock intake, 24lb. injectors, underdrive pulleys, BBK equal-length headers,
    BBK off road X-pipe, Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back and other bolt-on mods with 4.10 gears in the rear. Messing around with it a bit before heading to the track, unfortunately only ran a 12.9 but after a TFS intake swap and tune it ran mid 12s.
    I shot this footage many years ago in the early '00s. Sadly Nate has passed away a few weeks ago. Thankfully I was able to capture many memories on video back in the day. I had many good days running around with Nate in our 5.0 Mustangs. We will miss you old friend...

    I had a 72 chevelle with a 454 and nos and I swear where I lived everyone had a 5.0 mustang and they were 90% of the cars I would end up racing. We would win every time but that’s because the chevelle was set up,for the quarter mile track so I had it running in about the high11s in the quarter mile which was not very common to find a car with those kind of et,s on the street and the mustangs would get so pissed off because they were usually the faster car on the street at that time. I’m not trying to brag I just really miss seeing so many of the early 90s mustangs when I was at that age that was the car to get they were everywhere and every one I would run into would want to race.and we would smoke them but it,was not fair at all cus like I said mime was geared for the track . I still give the mustang props cus it would be the only car that could even come close to keeping up. They were definitely the car to have back in those days man I miss them even tho they were my arch nemesis lol. Much respect to whoever still runs one and what ever you do don’t sell it. That was my mistake and I have regretted it still to this day . I got into the whole crotch rocket phase and I will miss my car forever. If u are lucky enough to,still have a 5.0 on the street keep killing it man cus they are beautiful cars and harder to find every year that passes . Keep older 5.0 mustang era alive I 💕 love it wen I see one that has been kept up and still ripping up the streets.

    12.9 ain't bad in a heavy full dressed GT model with an "old" standard bore 302 with Edelbrock performer heads-intake and E303 cam, 24lber's, pulleys, BBK/Flowmaster exhaust and 4.10s. This GT weighed 3,300+lbs. with a 200+lb driver (total weight was probably creeping towards 3,600lbs)..... not bad at all.

I just drove on the scale and looked up at the digital readout, then drove away, lol. But anyway, I would think your car is somewhere under 3,100lbs give or take.

    Just like any cam, the E-303 cam is great when used in the right application. Most guys quick to trash talk these cams just hear someone else trashing them on a forum. Like, "junk Letter cams"... or "out-dated Alphabet cams"...but most of those fellas don't even know the difference between dual pattern cams & single pattern cams. Sure it is silly to install an E-cam with TFS or AFR heads, but a budget build with stock heads & bolt-ons a B-cam works great, or ported GT40P heads & F-303 cam also.

    It really all depends on the purpose... Drag, street or road racer? Cam specs and intake design? The long intake runner design makes loads of torque at lower RPMs, as well as having an extremely low 1st gear in the T5 tranny... I personally think that 3.55 and 3.73 gears work well in the 5.0 and 4.10 and 4.30 gears are better suited for the 4.6 models as they don't make the torque that the pushrod motors make and need a torque multiplier off the line. Put some 3.73 gears in it, lol.

    It's only a standard bore 5.0 with the typical heads, cam and intake, and other supporting bolt-on mods and gears... with that said, 300hp to 350hp is the limit for a basic under 180cc heads, under .500 cam and the tuned-length style intake setup.

    Probably around the 230hp range (give or take)... there is a old company that CNC machine ports the E7 heads as well as adds 1.90 valves, etc... do a search for "Power Heads" and expect an addition 40hp from these heads. With the CNC E7 Power Heads and a decent Cobra or GT40 intake you can probably get your car up to around 280hp. You can send your heads in or better yet, buy a cheap set of stockers on eBay and have them shipped there. They've been CNC porting these heads since 1996.

    Nothing like a Fox! I recently bought a 93GT with Cam and full bolt ons. Much to my dismay it has 2.73 gears! Whats the best gear ratio for a cammed full bolt on Fox in your opinion? 3.73s? Thanks

  • @nedaCFilms
    @nedaCFilms  Před 11 lety

    Depends what you intend to do with it... the new-edge cars benefit well from 4.10 to 4.56 gears. The Fox-Body 5.0 motors have loads of low end torque and can perform great with 3.55 and 3.73 gears, but if you want to kill people stop light to stop light, or be an 1/8 mile champ, you can run 4.10, 4.30 or 4.56 gears. 3.73 is really the best middle ground gear. Then again, there is a fella on here (TooSlo86) that runs a GT40p engine, with a cam and 4.56 gears (alot of tuning) and runs 11s, so...

    Hey Nedac! I'm getting a fox soon, what do you think of 4.10s in a foxbody? My friend has them in his new edge and they are shoooooort. are they too short for your liking? Debating between 3.73s or 4.10s but i feel they're too short for such a small car

    That car comes out of the hole nice and that dude can drive. Was that 106 mph? Not bad at all and there's not a lot of money in a build like in the video description.
    Parts are cheap and plentiful for these 5 liter Fords.

    uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh so nice. Currently swaping out my loveable 1990's inline 2.3 for a 4.9 1979 pace car replica's 5.0. The pace car is so rusted its not worth saving. So im ripping it out (with some help of course) and dropping it into my 2.3's body. Its got no rust and the frame of the car is perfect because well.... 88hp stock doesnt exactly twist or bend the frame haha. I just hope one day it will be as bad ass as this one holy fuck i am addicted to mustangs.

LX Hatchback with suspension tuning crappy radials exhuast,intake,4.10 gears 31xx with me in it ran a 13.4 all day with a 1.97 60ft They arent fast stock form but it doesnt take anything to wake them up. plan for gt40 head swap and more tuning suspension upgrades. hoping for mid 12s

    12.9 is a bit slow for all those parts, may have needed more tire suspension who knows. there have been pleanty of full weight GTs still rocking the stock heads and cam, with a good intake, a good tune, the right gears, right suspension, the right tires that are just as fast. stock gt40p heads will get you the 300rwhp with the right cam and tune. that e303 cam was killing that combo.

      Nick C. Yeah it's the "entry level" FMS cam, even though the "B" has a lower designation and lower lift, it's actually more aggressive when retarded 5-8 degrees.

    • @Savineyard3
      @Savineyard3 Před 10 lety +3

      12.9 is about right. The track didn't look that good of a set up as far as the surface goes, especially at the light to the 60 foot mark where most races are won or lost. Also don't forget about the air temp. which way the wind is blowing if there was wind, also humidity can make or break a drag race, as well as the elevation height at or above sea level which a lot of tracks won't give you a altitude correction factor time slips. Don't forget about the driver and the traction of the tires as well as the life of the clutch and tranny and the proper shifting RPMs because a lot of drivers like to max out 7000 RPMs on every gear thinking it will make a huge difference. I am very guilty of that so I had to teach myself to stop or short shift at the very least. Any way I thought I will add my 2 cents just for anybody that doesn't know these types of things. Thank you to whoever for reading this.

    It was pretty nasty back in it's day (late '90s - early '00s) but now not as much with factory 400+hp Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers running around, lol. This thing is probably putting out a little over 300hp to the tires, and it's a full weight and optioned GT model, so it's a bit heavy... if he would have trimmed the fat it would have been much nastier.

    I agree... but in this day and age Camaros and Mustangs are running that off the showroom floor. Hell, the 98-02 LS1 F-bodies have been known to hit high 12 second times with perfect runs. But you are right, considering this car stock was a mid-to-high 14 second runner.
