- We took a month to drive from Lake Tahoe to Colorado, Wyoming, and then back home. We stopped in incredible places along the way - Eldorado Canyon, Boulder Canyon, Tensleep Canyon, and Rock Springs!

So years ago I considered a van and talked to an older climber. I ran the idea of van life by him and he actually laid out the numbers for me that he had done in prior decades of his life. The TLDR is it’s actually way cheaper to just own a 4 cylinder economy car and stay in hotels every few days while camping outside of the car in tents the remainder. Take that same cash for the cost to get into a van and use it as the beginning or even down payment on a home. I took that advice in 2019 and took the $10k I had to buy a house and rehab it in PA. It worked out then, but definitely wouldn’t work out now especially out west with housing prices. It’s hard to say if these vans are worth the trouble. Personally I’d get the van right enough to sell and walk away.
Anyway I’ve been following your channel for some time. I ran into you in Vegas on your way to the original route. I was going up to armatron with the two brothers visiting from Scotland. If you need a break from that van life but want to hit Vegas for a couple days, let me know. I have a guest bedroom/bathroom and tend to help a lot of people passing through. I live here now with my gf. Lots of great climbing year round, especially in mount Charleston.
He wants to live in his van so he can travel and rock climb. And not be tied down.
Just came back from a climbing trip with my friends. We were in Boulder around the same time as you! We broke down in the middle of Nevada on rt50 and by some stroke of luck, we met a mechanic in town that fixed the car for free and housed us. Stoked for more videos!
