Yes, Em used to battle, and yes he lost - but this man has been refining his craft for 20 years. 20 YEARS YA'LL. He's expanded his vocabulary. He's been in personal battles with his demons. He's grown and matured as a man, but has kept that little bit of crazy. He's always got Slim Shady locked in that cage ready to bust out and eat whoever is in front of him.
Listen to his recent music. Kamikaze is an entire album of nothing but battle bars. Imagine Eminem has an opponent and time to prepare for nothing but that one opponent. Killshot was written in less than a day. His brain works differently than the rest of us. He can find ways to twist words that shouldn't rhyme into sounding like it was always supposed to be that way. He will use entire schemes that are double entandres. Nobody else is doing that consistently - NOBODY.
There are people who can go bar for bar with him, but to maintain that output for 20 damn years? Come on. Anybody who says there's a rapper who's on that level is tripping or hating.
As for the beef with Nick Cannon - he doesn't even have to respond. The reason battle rappers aren’t recognized like industry rappers is because the Main Stream audience doesn’t want real lyrics. Their are only a handful of lyrical rappers in the industry.
