Blackrock Caverns is the first 5-man instance in Cataclysm and as of the current state of the beta, one of only two which is functional. This is a full run through with a 5 man group, of this dungeon, showing you all 5 bosses, strats and a litter of puppies (no seriously).

@dylanseymour Mild trouble was only because we'd never seen it before. Bear in mind, you can get ICC level gear from basic questing in Cata, it's an entire reset across the board.
If the rest of the instances turn out like the way this one has, i will be so happy!
@Paddis92 Something I should have mentioned. In Cataclysm, BoM and BoW are the same buff, they merged them.

@shadowscorp12 I would imagine pro groups will quickly master this. This was our first run in there so none of us really knew what to expect. Bear in mind that this is normal mode, so as long as Heroic mode is TBC level of difficulty as opposed to Wrath, good groups will find challenges there.
@lifeiscomplexing Beta premades have no glyphs, enchants or gems. Also the 3% arcane damage ability we used to get is now a talent and the talent is broken (ie. impossible to learn it), so overall damage is lower as a result of all of that. I'm sure if I could get all enchanted/gemmed/glyphed up again it would be back to normally, maybe a little higher due to some talent changes.

Thanks so much for making all these videos. I can see that I'm going to have to practice my kiting skills on my hunter and probably on my mage as well. Looks like it's going to be fun!
@Xynthiaeu Calling them is the best option, they have staff on hand that can deal with compromised accounts. Calling them is usually the best way to start the process off.
@Joshualicious2 Don't base anything on my casting rotation there. I'm trying out different stuff because arcane does not work the same in Cataclysm.
@wimpywarrior Might and Wisdom are now one merged buff. I know, I flipped out on our pally for a second too before I noticed :P
@boneskillerrr Mastery powers up your talent-spec specific 'masteries' which very on a tree by tree basis. An example of one of them is Flashburn, which is like a double-ignite for fire mages. The Mastery talent will power that up.

That second boss with the melting armor is a very unique encounter.
@draakgast It's a pre-made beta character, I threw some stuff on my hotbar that would let me get basic functionality and that was that. I wasn't too concerned about having absolutely everything I could possibly need in every situation, I needed to get the video done as quickly as possible. That and it's a pain in the ass not having Bartender4 :
@XxVIPERxX666 Premades have full ICC level gear (Which you will replace immediately with Hyjal gtreens). Cataclysm is a full gear reset across the board.
@snarkamedes If you offtank those adds, you get a major stacking healing debuff and you'll become unhealable, so it seems fairly unlikely.
@flamefightr0 straffing is moving sideways with your "Q and E" keyboard buttons in default interface...variations of that also exist in pve (used for kitting) and pvp(usually by better than your average player).
kitting started as a hunter thing in vanilla wow and it consisted of straffing(or simple running)->jump->mouse turn->shoot from the air...abilities used were ofcourse instants: dps ones+ slowing and movement imparing abilities.
i also miss kitting so i'm glad it's back.

I can already see that there will be that awsome twilight drake for flying as a random drop or something. Cant wait.
BOSS 2: If your party steps in front of the lasers buffing the three mobs, they can stay there until 60 something stacks, get out of the beam until the stacks drop and get back in, the adds will not enrage or be any part of the encounter.

@djuz3 This is not true at all. Dungeon heroics are exactly the same, raids have hard-modes but they can be toggled on a boss-by-boss basis (not all details have been revealed yet)
I like how mobs and especially bosses have lots of health now. It takes some time to actually kill a boss, he doesnt go down in 10-15 seconds like in Wotlk, it more similar to raid bosses now.
@CoNKer180 Weapons still have it. Otherwise the stat itself still exists, but comes from intellect.
@polojine Rofl, yeah it's some kind of conspiracy, let's ignore the fact that 99% of the new content in Cataclysm is PvE and PvPers would just bitch if I put up a video of Twin Peaks anyway, since they would rather nitpick playstyle than look at the content.
@Blink182isPimp Premade characters can be copied over to the Beta realms which are all level 80 in ICC gear, for testing purposes.
@NeoTodesklingel No sorry, playing badly with bad people doesn't make instances hard, it makes your group terrible. If you play with randoms, expect to lose, a lot. Don't expect instances to be tuned to such a low baseline. Cataclysm is giving you an awful lot more reasons to be in a guild and if you aren't, you're not playing as intended and should not be catered to directly.

@amsn94 They're bringing out new heirlooms that work from 80-85, though I don't honestly see the point of using them.
awesome videos . Best commentary of all cataclysm videos on youtube. All the others sound like their either stoned out of their minds or just entering adolescents . Keep them coming. And I was wondering if you could do a worgen warrior video for us tanks.
@Mike190 80-85 is around the same length as 70-80, Kat Hunter confirmed that recently.
Looks like Blizzard is doing an AWESOME job on this expansion. Just watching your videos it's extreemly easy to tell. They have really listened to the community, and i hope they'll keep up the good work. Keep 'em comming TB!

This looks a lot better than many of the wotlk instances, cause they were just so easy. Reminds me of the vanilla instances, where you really had to stop and think what you're doing, and also, this much longer dungeon than any of the wotlk things. :D

@TitoWinA its the pallies moves, they can use Divine Plea to regen mana, and use Seal of Wisdom, so every hit returns mana. and Judgement of Wisdom.
@hollow44771 It's easy. First, you walk up to a mob, staying within max range of your bow(or gun, if your a dwarf). Next, fire an arrow(or bullet). The mob will come to you. Run for a time, keeping them within range of your bow(or gun). Fire an arrow (or bullet) at the mob every few steps to keep them on you. Turn off your bow(or gun) while running. Wash, rinse, repeat, and adjust as necessary.

just three manned this with a 82 druid and hunter and a 83 druid...none geared past throne of tides...and only one wipe....this video helped us everystep of the way

I ´m planning to play again soon. I really hope that the cc will be back, so that the individual "tricks" like sheeping, zap, etc comes back. Hasn´t been around much since BC started, and it was one of the things that made the groups work together
on the 2nd boss you can get in the way of the lazers powering the zealots to stop the buff that stacks 100 times on them, when if reaches 100 they turn into evolved dragons, the buff stacks really quickly and when you get in the way of the lazer you will be the one who gets the debuff stacking to 100. if it stacks to 100 you die so change people getting in the way of the lazers
@TheXdynamas They're changing Might in Cataclysm and merging it with Wisdom, so that multiple paladins won't be needed for all of hte blessings, and one can use hte new buff on the party, while hte othr uses kings. It's on the paladin class changes page on the forums.
Thanks for the videos and insightful (also humorous) commentary. You're one of the few commentators (regarding WoW, anyways) that I can truly enjoy. It's too bad some of these ignorant people are taking simple pragmatism and regarding it as "arrogant elitism".

I agree with you about the open run before the boss though, gives you a chance to get mana and focus and whatnot back.
@Bonestormlol Nope, Might and Wisdom are the same buff now. You might want to consider that people playing the beta know a lot more about the beta than you do, before hammering out your comments.

@NotermansProductions They are increasing all health pools, but keeping damage and healing similar, so mistakes aren't so instant death and healer mana actually matters.

have three ranged stand in front of the beam that comes from the dragon to the adds. this will prevent the transformation. when you get a stack of 80 from the beam move to drop or you will be transformed. repeat as needed and keep up attack on boss while blocking beams.
The puppy killing should definitely be optional. It'll lead to hilarious conversations before running Blackrock Caverns.

I'm wondering if newly dinged 78ishs would be able to run through it with the same ease as you. I doubt it.. In fact by the looks of it, i think you should expect to end with the same group that you started out with. People these day have zero patient.
Made me happy to see that CC will be brought back though. That is something I've missed a lot. Oh btw, I play a tank xD

@AyumiFortunex May I make a suggestion. If you're not in the beta, don't make stupid assumptions. For instance, complaining about lack of dps when pre-made characters come with no gems, enchants or glyphs and half the talents are broken. Complaining about Blessing of Might when in Cataclysm, Blessing of Might and Blessing of Wisdom are the same ability. Complaining about bars when addons are disabled in the beta.

@Sgurd People that don't play beta shouldn't open their mouth on such things, lest they look stupid, lots of things have changed, including the fact that Might and Wisdom are now a merged buff and arcane has significantly changed. No point applying Wrath logic to Cataclysm because it doesn't work.
@i8fiveZigZagz What exactly were you expecting? They're not going to completely overhaul the combat system, it's always going to be push button, kill man.
The mechanic you missed is that you can stand in the way of the beams and absorb the energy. If you get to a 100 stacks, you Evolve and kill your group.

hi, just to say brillient video, but there is a mechanic on the 2nd boss, you have to pick people to stand in the beams, a stacking de-buff will be put on you, when it reaches 80 get out of the beam, let it reduce and step back in and rinse and repeat. that way nobody will turn into those huge things.
@DeusExMachina360 Tier10 drops are replaced by greens, seriously.
@pimpin111 Sounds similar to the Wrath launch. I didnt replace T6 until around lv78, some even retained until heroics. So I'd imagine that ICC Heroic loot will factor out around lv83/84 with some of items not being replaced until into heroics.
It's good that they've kept this in place, the amounts of complaints they recieved at the start of TBC....

Um, just a helpful tip though for your regular gameplay. Might want to try out the enemy name plates only, and have them overlapping. It's a lot easier to find targets, etc, and if you get a mod when there is large aoe it shrinks them because there's only supposed to be a x amount of plates in a given space. Sorry for the run-on, too lazy to fix. :)
