In this Home Sweet Home Guitar Lesson I will not only demonstrate how to play all the guitar riffs and solos note-for-note, but I will also show you an easy way to play the piano part on the guitar as well. :)
"Home Sweet Home" was originally released on Motley Crue's 1985 album Theatre of Pain. "Home Sweet Home" became a massive success for Motley Crue and it's status as a power ballad became a formula that many other 80's bands would follow.
In the first video lesson I will demonstrate how to play the opening piano section, the acoustic guitar verse overdubs and chorus. The piano part can actually be performed almost note-for-note on the guitar without much difficulty. I do use a fingerstyle approach to play the piano parts so if you don't have much experience with fingerpicking it may be a bit of a challenge. However, the picking pattern is a very simple one that repeats over and over so it can be a nice introduction to the technique of fingerstyle guitar.
Over the opening piano verse you will also hear a nice complimentary arpeggio picked acoustic guitar riff. This riff is an excellent picking exercise that is not very difficult to play.
The 3rd and final thing I will show you in the first lesson video is the chorus riff. It is quite unique in it's construction with it's combination of power chords and staccato descending licks. However, once again there isn't too much to worry about here on a technical level.
In the 2nd lesson video I will demonstrate how to play the guitar solo note-for-note. As most Mick Mars solos are, it is a highly melodic solo with a little bit of flash as well. Mick Mars has always had a knack of writing solos that are instantly recognizable and become a big part of the song.
There are a couple of fast licks within the solo but they are very repetitive which should help you grasp them very quickly. Just isolate those sections of the solo and practice them over and over again in a loop while trying to keep everything as precise as possible. Pretty soon the muscle memory will kick in and you won't have to think about it very much at all. Those fast notes will just seem to pop out of your fingers.
So I hope you enjoy this Home Sweet Home Guitar Lesson. Get your lighters out for this one!!
Carl..
GIVE THIS A MILLION LIKES this is my favorite song and I can't find a good guitar lesson or tab anywhere
Dam...is there anything you cant play? You’ve almost covered the entire western musics library!! Thank you carl!!! Love your channel!!
Jesus is there a video you haven’t made?? love ur channel sooo much
Yeah, once I have close to 10k hours of guitar practice under my belt, I would become a world class guitarists, and soon afterwards all the major record labels would be chasing me. I would choose and sign up with one, choose a manager, choose a producer, chose a tour manager, choose a roadie, choose a technician and tour the world promoting my newly launched album, many a songs from which would feature consecutively in top 3 all across the globe from Tokyo to Toronto for weeks or months on end.
Since Mr. Brown isn't a time-traveller, he hasn't made a tutorial of my global chartbusters yet.
By my calculation you have exactly 71 more lessons before you have covered every song ever written. What then Carl??
Steven Foubert Haha... I will write my own then I guess!! Gotta keep these daily lessons coming!! :)
😊
Jokes on you, Carl never stops and production quality only increases
Thank you so much!!! Ready to learn solo and other parts as well!!! The only tabs and videos I can find are over the piano part and this lesson is what I want!!!! Thank you so much!!!!

I tried this with the motley music video and there’s was a half step higher so idk what
is there a way i can make a sound similiar to the whammy bar dive before the electric guitsr lick?
I dont know what im missing, but im in tune with you for the beginning piano part until you go to the actual gtr parts in D shape chord, then im about a whole step higher? what am i missing here?
Motley plays a full step down DGCFAD
Carl, greetings from Perú, I'm fun of your tutorials from where I learn a lot. I want to ask you something, regarding about your tuning of that guitar on this video, I can see that is a floating bridge, but it doesn't happen nothing with all fretboard, I mean it is not twisting all it, once you tuning down?
Floating tremolo, dive the bar on the open string, d standard tuning.
Could you do Starry Eyes by Motley Crue?
Matts D I agree
🇧🇷
Is Mick Mars tuned down to a D when he does the guitar parts though?, cuz i would really rather leave my guitar tuned to E, start the guitar part of verse 2 with C and doin the pull off from f to e on the e string, then the next chord going down to B on the A string, etc.....So that I dont have to retune my guitar between songs if im just playing a few songs for someone or something
I know you asked this 5 months ago. But In theory you could play the entire song without tuning down. You'd just have to shift the entire thing down on your fretboard two frets. For the notes that are played open or lower you'd have to figure out where to play those on another string
Charmin Ultra Strong Toilet Paper thanks
Sweet Class Saludos desde Monterrey Mexico lml
What pickup position did you use?
Devin M would like to know as well
Rock you like a hurricane solo?
Per le accordature particolari, se non fai suonare corda per corda, il non musicista come me non riuscirà neppure ad incominciare. Solo a orecchio se le fai suonare ci posso tentare
Please do Welcome Home Sanitarium by Metallica please!
