Everyone I know liked the beverly hillbillies. A pleasant, funny show. Every character in the show played their part perfectly. I loved Mrs . dresdale., and "sunny", their son. And I remember when jed and granny thought some beverly hills person was behaving wrong, they would say," pityful, just pityful". I've been doing it too, ever since. Such a good show.
True, but I think shows like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad kinda proved that theory wrong. People will apparently invite murderers and criminals into their homes too. We’re a different culture now though
@hlf_coder6272 Though on those shows those characters were still characters people wanted to invite into their homes so it still counts with what the idea is. Nobody said they had to be likable or "good" people they just have to be interesting and entertaining.
The first Halloween, which they didn't understand, and they saw two kids dressed like gruesome monsters. The Mom said, "I told you to stay inside until dark!" Granny said to Jed, "Can't blame the poor woman for wanting to keep them young'uns hid." Pure genius. Hilarious. 🤣🤣
Paul Henning insisted on being the star & playing Jed. When they said no, he wanted to play Jethro. When they said no, he said he wanted to play Granny. Well, Irene Ryan beat the cwap out of him & left him on the floor a bloodied heap. Only then did he acquiesce, heh heh heh, TO BE THE WRITER, BEHIND THE SCENES!! UH HUH!!
The Beverly Hillbillies represents the genius of SITCOM. It was played out by remarkable actors and actresses and they even did a decent job with the movie.

AGREED. But its Drysdale...
Such an important point about creating endearing TV characters that viewers wish to see again and again.

Loved the comment about inviting the characters into your home. That's so different from today. Modern writers spit on the fans at times.

Granny was right!
This was filmed in 1989. You're welcome.
