She did have both parents around growing up though in Vietnam. It's weird how many people from the US think people in other countries don't have a good life over there, when most of them did and do have a good life in their home country. Just because the country isn't as wealthy as the US does not mean they are sad, on the contrary usually they are happier in general than we are in the US.

As an asian, I think I can rightfully state that in general we tend not to verbalize our emotions, especially when it comes to immediate family. As my mom said, “my love is seen through my actions.” Her actions were incredible but sometimes you just want a balloon arrangement on the wall. I love this and I’ve got a couple tears to share with mango man.
I feel like Hispanic/Latino culture is similar in that aspect. A lot (at least my grandma and her parents) don’t say I love you but show it through their actions and with gifts.
