As a Nigerian I don't feel like Burna became big all of a sudden, he has been big since 2012 and has stayed at the top since then. I became a fan after his "Run my race" song in 2013. His shows have been selling out in the UK and all over Africa for years.

M CH of course you will feel that way. I feel that way too as a Nigerian, but you have to keep in mind that Burna’s audience in 2012 was typically Africans, whether in their respective African nations, or in the U.K./USA. Most were just uni students who were playing his music, along with other African artists. African music as a whole, (not just the Naija/Ghana popular sound) just didn’t have that global audience at the time. Now that we have big name artists doing collaborations and gaining more visibility, more light is being shed unto our African sounds! No be only Afrobeats wey dey for our continent oo na plenty sounds dey 🌍

M Ch I agree burna boy been big since 2011 but people in the states are late to his success. If your Nigerian and you follow what been happening musically on ground you would know he had huge hits like abeg abeg marshals castles remix and like to party

Yeah he has been consistent... He has been creating music since when the 9ja industry like the award shows were Shawning him... But now he is bigger than them. He has been persistent enough 4 albums, hit music right from day 1, mixtapes... He's now reaping the reward and blowing globally... Featuring Damian Marley no b small thing

Burna boy wasn’t a hit in the UK since 2012, people only started realising and noticing him since Ye and then from there he just released African Giant in early 2019 which made him to skyrocket. Maybe in Nigeria he was a hit but 2019 was definitely Burna’s year in regards to recognition in the UK

And I am so glad. Not only do people of African decent an culture need to be respected, people need to know that yes they DO have the juice and should have NEVER been shamed.

His music is beyond amazing. I am Puerto Rican and I’d love for him to collaborate with some Puerto Rican artists such as Marc Anthony, Azuna, etc.... That would be AMAZING.!!!!!!!
